We've been hearing about Eccola for years - so glad we finally made it here. The homemade pastas are delicious and the menu, overall, is so well-rounded, there's something for everyone. Cocktails were pretty good too - some a little on the sweet side but, again, somethin' for everyone theme throughout. Tonight we enjoyed the risotto as an appetizer and the beet salad - both delicious. Some others in our party had the mushroom soup - tasty and a huge portion. For entrees, my wife asked them to make an off-menu gnocchi bolognese and they obliged - and she was quite pleased with it. I had the gnocchi special with chunks of short rib - impossible to ever go wrong with anything with short rib! Very tasty! Our friends had a variety of pasta and veal dishes - the veal chop special was Wow! All enjoyed their choices. We skipped on dessert because everyone usually climbs into my SUV "bus" for ice cream somewhere nearby. The adventure continues! This is a rough business. It's so hard for a single restaurant to stay in business for this long but Eccola has stayed relevant in an uber-competitive North Jersey market. Eccola means "Here She Is!". Good for Eccola still going strong after all these years. My first time back in a lonnnnng time. Hostess and bartender were very friendly and welcoming. However, we did have to wait a solid half hour past our reservation time with no apology. Our waiter was unfriendly, if not rude. I don't think he said more than 10 words the entire night and didn't seem particularly thrilled to be there. But otherwise, attentive. Food was solid. Grilled calamari came out lukewarm at best but was tasty. Mussels good but nothing special. Great complimentary bread. We all really enjoyed our entrees - salmon, orecchiette, and clams over linguine. Chocolate mouse cake was good but the biscotti pretty standard. Place was busy with a nice vibe. However the restaurant could use an update. Light fixtures, booths and some other design elements scream 1992. read more

I was at Eccola's this past week. I've been coming here for over 30 years. Always enjoyed it. I would say over the last couple of years it has definitely declined in quality. First for what they charge now for food the portions are extremely small. The other night was awful. I had the Snapper Marrciatta which I've have had countless times. I was going to return the fish, as it tasted super fishy and bad, but I decided against it because I didn't want to cause a scene as I was with other friends. I used to be a regular where we were coming here a few times a month, but now I think I'm going to stop. This used to be one of my very favorite restaurants and my go to Italian restaurant. Unfortunately, not anymore. I was served by Lisa who is excellent and deserves five stars for her service. read more

We recently celebrated my father's 80th birthday at Eccola and the meal was fantastic. Our party was large, but they did a great job with everything and the food was great. Eccola has been in Parsippany for a long time, but it has really held up well. The service was good and you could tell everything was made with care and they were open to making adjustments as needed. They let us take our time a day had an impressive wine selection. We had some really good appetizers and salads to start out. The meals were mainly meat and pasta dishes and it was all wonderful. I strongly recommend checking this place out when you are looking for a good Italian meal in Parsippany that is a little more upscale. read more

We celebrated my friend's birthday meal here. The staff was nice and the space felt like a homey Italian restaurant. I enjoyed my pasta dish of pappardelle with sausage and tomato sauce, but my friend's cavatelli with broccoli was pretty bland, from what she reported (and from my one bite). So I'd check photos and/or ask questions before ordering if you're unsure. Portions are quite big here, so it's good value. read more

We have been coming to Eccola for well over a decade, which makes this experience even more disappointing. During our most recent visit, we found not one, but two hairs in our food--first in the calamari and then again in the steak tips. Finding a hair once is unfortunate; finding hairs in two separate dishes back-to-back is frankly disgusting and raises serious concerns about the cleanliness standards of both the kitchen and staff. What made the situation worse was the response when we brought it to the owner's attention. Rather than addressing the issue with concern or offering an apology, he appeared to dismiss our concerns and simply walked away. As longtime customers, we found that response incredibly disappointing and disrespectful. We've enjoyed many meals at Eccola over the years, but this experience left us questioning the restaurant's cleanliness and customer service. We hope management takes food safety concerns more seriously, we won't be returning. read more

Outstanding venue and dinner to commemorate a friends birthday at Parsippany's Eccola Italian Bistro, located on Rt. 46 West in Parsippany. We have a few "excellent Italian restaurants" in the Parsippany area and Eccola is one of those few that never disappoints. Each perfectly prepared dish was cooked to perfection and expertly presented. The service was above reproach, and the overall ambiance only enhanced the meal. The evening started off with a complimentary appetizer consisting of asparagus and baby shrimp. . Our server recommended the house group appetizer consisting of an array of sea food; it was plentiful and fantastic. We also went with a serving of classic Escargot Bourguignon. For my entree I chose the wild east coast halibut, piccata style, which was servec over smashed califlower and spinach. I would not hesitant to order it again. Others went with the Veal Scaloppine, topped with asparagus and crabmeat, and finished with Hollandaise sauce, and accompanied with mashed potatoes. Also ordered was their house-made Ravioli, filled with prosciutto, mozzarella, and roasted peppers, tossed in a marinara sauce with Italian meatballs garnished with shaved ricotta salata cheese. A couple of bottles of Daou Cabernet, Paso Robles was a great accompaniment to our meal. My dessert of pistachio cake and a cappuccino was a perfect way to cap off this great culinary treat. Brilliant food! I tried the chicken breast with asparagus, peppers and mashed potatoes. Really loved it! To get started we got free bread, which was warm and very tasty. For dessert I got the pistachio cake. So so so so delicious! Like just super moist and so flavorful. I'd go back for that alone! Overall fantastic food. Friendly service. Wifey took me out for an early Father's Day hot date. We've lived in our town for 24 years and for 24 years we've wanted to eat at Eccola. Tonight we found out how stupid we were for NOT eating here. Everything was excellent - food, service, ambiance, and the prices weren't over the top either. We started with a couple drinks and shared two appetizers. Wifey had the White sangria and I had the Missing Paper Airplane (Bourbon, Nonino Amaro, Aperol, and lemon), which was like a sweet Manhattan. We also split the Burrata Appetizer (burrata, arugala, strawberries, hearts of palm, avocado, crispy prosciutto, and a balsamic reduction) and the Pear salad appetizer (roasted Bartlett pears, arugala, goat cheese and a balsamic reduction). What a start... We both ordered a glass of wine with dinner...Wifey had a very nice Chianti and I had a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon. For our entrees, Wifey had the Ravioli special (homemade ravioli with prosciutto, roasted red peppers, and mozzarella in a homemade marinara and topped with Italian meatballs and ricotta salada cheese). Let me be honest, I would come back here for a bowl of this marinara sauce and some bread...it was AMAZING (so were the ravioli and meatballs, but DAMN). I had the pasta special (House made bucatini (which is like a very thick spaghetti) topped with rock shrimp, middle neck clams, and broccoli rabe finished in a roasted garlic olive oil sauce.). When the plate was out in front of me, I thought, great I'll get two meals out of this ... no way. I hammered it. While it was a big portion, it reminded me of the meals we had in Italy. Not too complicated, simple flavors that all come together for an amazing experience. Though stuffed, we HAD to have dessert so Wifey had a decaf, I had a glass of black Sambuca Romano, and we split a piece common their pistachio cake. The cake was a perfect finish. It was a lighter cake that didn't overwhelm with sweetness and the icing had. Nice richness to it without being too sugary. Overall, extremely disappointing Pros- beautiful ambiance and attentive wait staff. I thoroughly enjoyed the Chicken Kiev entree. The chicken, potatoes, and mixed vegetables were prepared to perfection! Cons- anytime I see Tuna Tartare on a menu, it's a must for me! Unfortunately this must was a total miss. There was absolutely no flavor whatsoever...no ginger, no soy sauce, no sesame oil...completely tasteless. Unfortunately the dessert was a complete miss as well. Was in town with family. Came here with my wife, her sister and husband. I was expecting the usual red sauce fare. I was wrong! This place blew us away. All the pasta is home made. Superb wine list. The grilled calamari with tre -colore salad was fresh and delicious. For my main course i had the veal sorrentino that was done to absolute perfection. The dessert of pistachio cake was dope good. Went for Monday evening for dinner. Reservation is must since the place is jam packed every single day. Online reservation is very simple too. Parking was tight and bit odd place for the pricey menu next to Patel Brothers. As per the restaurant, feel free to park in the American Express parking lot adjacent to it. It was much more decent and sophisticated environment after getting inside. 90% tables were occupied at 7:30pm on Monday evening so the place was bustling with noise and crowd. If looking for a quiet place for dinner, this is not the place. The food was superb, service was awesome so if looking for a great Italian upscale restaurant, this is a great place. While we waited for the food, they got a heavenly freshly baked hot bread and butter.. really awesome !!! We enjoyed every bite of it. Carbs limited to the appetizer section doesn't make you too guilty. Fresh Salmon with great quality and quantity was outstanding !! Vegetarian - spinach ravioli was super ! Meatballs were great and too filling after having a white bean soup from appetizers which was irresistible. My favorite was salmon and the bread that they serve in the beginning. Great experience. I hadn't been to Eccola in several years and decided to give it a second chance. We had reservations and were seated, a nearby table had 6 " gentlemen" that appeared to be there just for after work drinks. Their language was more inline with Boot camp rather than an upscale restaurant on a Friday night. The maitre d did speak with the " gentlemen" at the table, and told us, let's see what happens. Here's the deal : Eccola is located in a small strip of stores on rte 46. It's a upscale but casual restaurant. Great for a date night or group of friends. There's an full bar towards the back of the restaurant. The main section has tables for parties of 2.4,6 parties they also have booths which definitely provide a more casual atmosphere. There pasta is homemade with entree prices usually in the $25range They have specials which never disappoint!! The service is very friendly and they're always willing to make accommodations for different palates! Hint There are two stores in the strip that gobble up most of the parking in the front. Eccola has some outdoor seating in front which is great!! That said you'll probably have to look on the side or back of restaurant for parking. read more

Excellent and classy restaurant with modern decor. Classy in the sense that they have fine dining tables and tablecloth napkin. Modern in the sense that they have designed the interior of their restaurant with a bar and TVs, an open kitchen where you can see the chefs cooking. Whether if intended or not, the restaurant had a great balance of fine dining, classiness, and casualness. When we went there the restaurant was surprisingly lively and loud due to a big group of people dining by the entrance. It added a pleasant ambience to be able to casually dine. The food is excellent, although I feel the portions for the pasta could be better. The pasta is hand made so it takes a while to make, but the sauce and texture of the pasta are excellent. I can't rave about this place enough. Literally the best branzino I've ever had! I've been here twice and I literally dream of this fish! You wouldn't even think this place was an Italian joint passing by it. Don't let the neon lights outside fool you. Inside it is a dim and intimate Italian restaurant. Come here for the food! Had a couple of drinks at the bar, I do have to say the bar menu needs some help. The cocktails were way too strong but not in a good way. The food is impeccable! We've shared bites of each others plates and even after dining in Italy, we think this is the best Italian you can get in the northeast! Don't take my word for it, just try it. read more

Always so good when we are in from out of town! This is one of our go to places. It's nice for a group dinner as well! The staff is very friendly as well. Seven of us had dinner here ... the food is always so good. The calamari and anti pasta .. so good! I especially like good Eggplant Rollatini when in New Jersey ...which they have....however there chicken rollatini is what I went for and it was delicious. Carrot cake for dessert rounded out the oh so good meal. My only complaint ... why when you have a party of seven do you try to squeeze them around a table for six ... feels cramped in especially sitting in a corner.
