Stopped by for quick lunch last afternoon. Was busy but we got a table for 3 in less than 5 mins. Found parking in the lot nearby.Friendly welcoming staff. Had the spicy shrimp n grits, kitchen sink omelette and the breaded chicken w mozzarella, roasted pepper, arugula n balsamic. All generous portions. Hmm the spicy shrimp n grits was so delicious w the peppers n chorizo.was to die for. The kitchen sink omelette was v healthy n tasted good. Came with home fries that was good too. And the chicken sandwich was good too. The side salad was fresh refreshing n tasted good. Tx u for a great Sunday lunch. Will be back again.

We had family visiting that used to live in the area and they were back to visit and insisted that we go to Hapgoods. Being so close to home, Hapgoods was a happy little surprise for me. Met them for brunch and got the Eggs Benedict along with the maple pecan latte. The latte was very tasty. Food was good and service was fast! There was a very short wait for a table - plenty of available seating outside and inside was buzzing! After eating we decided to check out the new bar area that they opened on the other side. They opened the bar late this summer and are now serving dinner!

It's a nice place with good service. The food to me for lunch was pretty good. Deli type sandwiches and salads. I would like to try breakfast here one day. I had the steak sandwich. We tried the cheesesteak which was just ok. The shrimp wrap was also just ok as well.

Came here for an early Mother's Day lunch and was beyond satisfied with the food. Food: my entire family enjoyed their lunch with great options such as shrimp avocado wrap, but the appetizer of confetti fries and meal of chicken and waffles blew me away. Chicken and waffles were nearly perfectly done and offered a great apple cinnamon butter which accentuated the meal. Service: expect a little bit of a wait when it is busy as there busing a lot of tables and it appears nonstop busy. Lian was excellent and took care of all of our needs. Ambiance: deceivingly large place with multiple styles of seating and outdoor seating where we stayed nestled away in a nice residential neighborhood.

Good spot for friends and families gathering; good food and nice contemporary ambiance. We had their pulled pork fries nachos with Mediterranean wraps, and both were delicious.

I did not like the burger or the fries, I thought the burger tasted salty and did not have enough of a mushroom taste, and the fries were really lacking in cheese and just mid tier. For how expensive this was it was a huge let down and I will not be going back and can't recommend it for anyone. I can say The service was good, the waitress was friendly and attentive. And the inside was nice and had lots of seating indoor and outdoor.

Inconspicuous location. Wouldn't know this gem was around if it wasn't for Yelp. Inside it looks like it's an old home turned well made restaurant. The service was super prompt and great overall. The food was excellent and huge portions. There's a lot to try and a large breakfast/brunch menu. Will be back to try more dishes in the future!

No restrictions for baby feet posted in the restaurant.

The food is delicious priced according to the quality and the location. Service is excellent, everyone is welcoming and attentive. The atmosphere is charming, an updated version of an old building captures a time when things were different and slower in New Jersey.

Lunch with friends at Hapgoods in Mountain Lakes. As close as it is,I can't imagine why I haven't been here before. Lively, vibrant place with a great vibe and interesting architecture. An original 1912 refurbished Hapgood house; this building has a lot of history behind it. Spacious, airy, casual, and comfortable, it all came together to provide an enjoyable dining experience. American cafe type menu, offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with a nice array of choices on the menu, and the food was very good. Cold beer, wine, and cocktails are also available. The service was excellent; thank you Fernanda. 08/09/2024

This place is HAPpening for sure! Very busy location with street parking in front. Be ready to adapt to different seating options or to wait for a table - Hapgoods is a busy place but I'd say worth it. Food is slightly pricey, but average for the area. Waitstaff seem a bit overwhelmed here and it's loud so it was hard to hear and order while seated at the high counter. I really think some sound reducing measures would make this place better. I had a lovely sandwich with coleslaw and added fries as a friend suggested them. Glad I did! Had some tea which I was brought a second mug for without asking which I felt was nice but I really didn't want or need a second cup. No extra charge so hey, no complaints here!

Yogurt, Fruit, and Granola - my daily go to.

[Blowing on my nails.] The menu is a mix of American comfort food and gastropub classics, but with flair, and has a bit of everything to satisfy different palates. Our eyes were probably bigger than our stomachs as we ordered 2 apps, 2 entrees, and 2 cocktails, and it was an enormous amount of food. The portions are definitely what you'd call hearty, and everything was very tasty. Thursdays are all day happy hour so we picked the fried calamari appetizer at the HH price (still a full and generous plate and didn't seem like a downsized version) which were tender and well-battered, as well as the hot honey wings which were meaty and substantial. The short rib parpadelle with housemade pasta and a perfectly medium-rare, well seasoned hanger steak with truffle fries completed our satisfying and belly-stuffing meal. The cocktails are serious as well - the presence of a drink with egg white is my personal litmus test for a bar that knows what it's doing, so the Thyme to Bloom special had my name on it. I'm salivating just looking at photos of dishes I didn't order, and am already plotting my return!

It's my daughter's go to favorite for this place and I know she will be happy to have some of my leftovers since the portion is so huge. Hubby liked dipping his fries in the sauce (as did I). Such a joyful meal! I highly recommend it! He got a coffee and we split a piece of cheesecake. It was a large plate for a small piece. It may not have been too small, but perhaps some Whipped cream or a smaller plate to appease the eye. The service is fantastic! We sat and had menus right away, whenever we finished a drink or food. What changed? * As noted last time, this is definitely Northern style barbecue here. I had said before it's not very BBQ inside, but I'll reframe that. You still absolutely get friendly service and not a very long wait. * I said before the meats are clearly prepared previously and just warmed to the order. I don't think I'll say that again. The meats were perfectly done, moist throughout, perfectly seasoned and smoky on the outside. * When I had gotten the two-meat plate, the brisket fell apart on my fork. The pulled pork was the opposite of what I expected - in fact, I'm wondering if they gave me pork or chicken now that I think about it... but it was good. Didn't occur to me at the time, but that might explain some of the taste and appearance. * This time, I got the ribs. A half rack of ribs filled me up, and YUM. Some ribs fell off the bone a little more than others, but oh boy was that perfectly good. My parents loved their chicken and brisket. * I think they read my review about how much meat you get for what you pay. It's not cheap here, but we all felt that we got a good amount of meat, mac 'n' cheese, or whatever else we ordered. It's great when a place listens! * Last time they upcharged me a dollar to swap cole slaw for cornbread. This time they gave me chipotle BBQ instead of regular BBQ without any charge at all. So again, maybe they read and responded! Still loving the flavors, textures, sauces, cornbread, and mac. This is a winner and earned the fifth star - we're all coming back!

Full disclosure, the first time Wifey and I…read morecame here was when they first opened, we came kind of late and we didn't have the best experience, but I PROMISED myself I'd come back before reviewing because I honestly believed I just hit them on a bad night. Had a good friend recently tell me I needed to come back, so we did. Tonight we ordered a half rack of ribs, a pulled pork sandwich, and the pulled pork Mac-n-cheese. In a word, the food was fantastic. I've had BBQ in a LOT of places and also have my own smoker that I've gotten pretty good at using it so I know good BBQ...and this is good BBQ. The ribs were delicious - cooked perfectly the way the want them in competition...not fall off the bone, but with a little bite, and the flavor was great. Amazing bark on the outside with tender meat on the bone. The pulled pork sandwich was so tender and delicious that I wish I didn't have to share it with Wifey. And their homemade BBQ sauce is absolutely great...a little spice on the back of the tongue, but still sweet without being overly sweet (they have four kinds, but I only wanted the traditional). The pulled pork Mac-n-cheese was very rich but full of flavor with a nice breadcrumb topping as well. Each platter also came with cole slaw, something often overlooked by BBQ places, but not here. Very tasty, very fresh, though I think it needed a pinch of salt. I do wish we had gotten some cornbread, but honestly, we walked away very full. The service here is super friendly and our food came pretty quickly...and I really love the layout and vibe here. I spoke to the owner about how much I loved the food tonight and how it was such a difference from my first experience. I'm so glad we came back. The people behind the counter all seem to LIKE what they're doing...and that means a lot. Real BBQ places are always pricey, because you aren't paying for just the food, your paying for the hours and hours and hours of cooking it takes to get the food to taste as good as it does and to be tender. You can't take shortcuts with BBQ. So yeah, Embark isn't cheap, but if there's one thing I've discovered over the years it's that you DON'T want cheap BBQ. Embark is a BYOB place so bring your favorite beer, order some great food, and sit with friends savoring the deliciousness. I will NOT wait this long to come back again.

We were discussing burgers yesterday and Habit came up. I'd never eaten at one. He wanted one. Perfect. Pulls in at 8:45, takes a few minutes to figure out the ordering kiosk. I will therefore note this is an issue to anticipate. The order itself didn't seem to take too long. As for what came home with my friend: * Intrigued by the dragonfruit limeade. Would be something to keep in mind if I find myself at Habit again. * I enjoyed my burger. The patty was the weakest part, very plain and underwhelming. But the portabello mushroom and associated toppings? Mwah. That all made the sandwich. But the best burger places know how to make the meat score points. * My friend got the tempura green beans. Apparently those were just OK, maybe not tempuraed enough. I noticed when looking at the sides, every dipping sauce costs money besides ketchup packets (m'eh) and none of them really looked that interesting to me. So the upsides? Good value, tasty mushrooms. The downsides? Limited selections, uninspiring burger meat. I'll call it a strong 3 stars and if I do end up here (or another Habit) I will reconsider.
