Filet Mignon Gorgonzola
Nina C.

Took my clients out to dinner here after a productive meeting at their office nearby, as this place has been recommended to them. It was a little tough to find, but very cute once you do, and it's actually built into the train station. We headed inside and we walked downstairs into the main dining room, which has a vintage, ornate ambience, with dark burgundy tablecloths, and cloth napkins. Their menu was extensive, with a secondary menu of special apps and entrees given to us separately that was available for the season. I tried the pear martini, it was good but nothing special. My colleagues tried the blood orange martini and margarita, said they were yummy as well. We shared some apps around the table - the jumbo shrimp ajillo were really good, served with corn which you don't often see, but well cooked/seasoned with just the right amount of char. The stuffed avocado appetizer was refreshing and tasty, and the ahi tuna was good quality and i loved the fresh seaweed salad it was served with. For entrees, a few of us had the filet mignon Gorgonzola. It came with shoestring potato fries, to be honest i was a bit underwhelmed by the overall dish. The presentation wasn't really inviting and the shoestring potatoes were overcooked. I personally don't feel there was much of a cheesy taste to it either. The steak itself was perfectly cooked, medium rare like i asked, and i mostly pushed off the potatoes and ate just the steak, which was flavorful and tender. The stuffed salmon with the crab was okay - i would have preferred a bit more difference in the texture, the crab was mushy and then the salmon was also cooked mushy with no char, just wasn't my favorite . I also tried an espresso martini, but I am a purist and ask them to leave out the Baileys as I don't feel this should be part of a genuine espresso martini. Again, it was good, but not something I would come back for. My colleague tried the regular espresso martini as it came and did not like it. The service was good and they didn't bring the bill until i gave him the silent signal even after we declined dessert, which i appreciated the subtlety of as we were still having a work-conversation. Still a solid meal, i enjoyed my time here.

Had an amazing late lunch early dinner. Sat outside on a beautiful day. Music was playing and we had great service. We had cold antipasto for 2. Delicious!! Our main courses were plentiful with amazing flavors. Highly recommend

Ordered: The Station Spritz (~$14): Ketel One vodka, peach orange blossom, Aperol shaken and poured over ice with Prosecco and a splash of club Baked Brie in Puff Pastry (~$14): served with bourbon poached pears Firecracker Fried Calamari (~$17): garlic, scallions hot peppers, olives, balsamic vinegar Shrimp Horseradish & Capers (~$29): served with a dill creams sauce over spinach fettuccine Bread Pudding (~$9) Grandma's Chocolate Cake (~$8) Fresh Berries & Cream (~$9): just strawberries Aya's take: What a wonderful dining experience! We stopped by on a Monday around 5pm for an early birthday dinner for a friend. We made a reservation for a party of 4 which wasn't really needed (but per our waiter, definitely necessary from Thursday-Sunday). The Station has a very old yet classic feel. I started off with The Station Spritz which was honestly just okay. The Baked Brie in Puff Pastry was warm, flaky, and pretty tasty! The Firecracker Fried Calamari was a good try but it got soggy way too fast and some pieces had way more balsamic vinegar than others. I almost would've preferred to have the firecracker sauce as a dip rather than on top. The major highlight of this meal was the Shrimp Horseradish & Capers. Truly one of the best pasta dishes I've had! It was light, creamy, slightly sharp from the dill and horseradish, briny from the capers, with large, succulent pieces of shrimp. I mean the whole dish was absolutely impeccable. I even had some for leftovers and it was just as good! We decided to split 3 desserts, but unfortunately none of them were worth getting. They were dry, dense, and didn't have good flavors. All in all, the pasta dish alone is worth a visit here. It is great for a date or business dinner as it is pretty intimate. Definitely recommend checking it out!

Great appetizers, service and ambiance. Main dishes were a bit too salty for my family's liking.

We've been hearing about Eccola for years - so glad we finally made it here. The homemade pastas…read moreare delicious and the menu, overall, is so well-rounded, there's something for everyone. Cocktails were pretty good too - some a little on the sweet side but, again, somethin' for everyone theme throughout. Tonight we enjoyed the risotto as an appetizer and the beet salad - both delicious. Some others in our party had the mushroom soup - tasty and a huge portion. For entrees, my wife asked them to make an off-menu gnocchi bolognese and they obliged - and she was quite pleased with it. I had the gnocchi special with chunks of short rib - impossible to ever go wrong with anything with short rib! Very tasty! Our friends had a variety of pasta and veal dishes - the veal chop special was Wow! All enjoyed their choices. We skipped on dessert because everyone usually climbs into my SUV "bus" for ice cream somewhere nearby. The adventure continues! This is a rough business. It's so hard for a single restaurant to stay in business for this long but Eccola has stayed relevant in an uber-competitive North Jersey market. Eccola means "Here She Is!". Apparently, here she remains! Salute!!

Good for Eccola still going strong after all these years. My first time back in a lonnnnng time…read more Hostess and bartender were very friendly and welcoming. However, we did have to wait a solid half hour past our reservation time with no apology. Our waiter was unfriendly, if not rude. I don't think he said more than 10 words the entire night and didn't seem particularly thrilled to be there. But otherwise, attentive. Food was solid. Grilled calamari came out lukewarm at best but was tasty. Mussels good but nothing special. Great complimentary bread. We all really enjoyed our entrees - salmon, orecchiette, and clams over linguine. Chocolate mouse cake was good but the biscotti pretty standard. Place was busy with a nice vibe. However the restaurant could use an update. Light fixtures, booths and some other design elements scream 1992.
