I genuinely enjoy seeing what other bakers create, tasting their specialties, and supporting the talent and hard work that goes into a small bakery. I stopped by Country Bake Shoppe and picked up Whoopie pies, cupcakes, and a pecan bar. Pumpkin nut bread was NOT on my original list. Then I tasted the Whoopie pie. Y'ALL. It was so good that I had to go back and get something else! That's when the pumpkin nut bread came home with me too. When something is good enough to make another bakery owner turn around and go back for more, that says something! There was something so comforting about this little country bakery. Nothing pretentious--just beautiful, homemade baked goods that taste like they were made by people who truly care about what comes out of their kitchen. As the owner of Sugar Daddys Bakery, I spend so much of my life creating things for other people to enjoy. Every once in a while, it's wonderful to be on the other side of the counter and simply enjoy another baker's work. And Country Bake Shoppe, I ENJOYED YOURS! That Whoopie pie got me through the door, but it certainly won't be the last thing I try. From one bakery owner to another: well done. There will usually be a couple things on the menu to satisfy most everyone. The restaurant itself is in what appears to be a remodeled old house. It is cozy but not tight or cramped. It seems to be a local favorite because it was pretty busy when we arrived. We got the last spot in the parking lot. The lot is not paved (dirt and mulch); however, if you have a Tesla they have two charging units in the lot. Staff are very friendly and inviting and they do a good job of cleaning and maintaining the coffee station and customer seating areas. Prices are competitive to other businesses in the area, although the coffee is a bit expensive in my opinion, but it is delicious. I ordered an Americano and it was one probably the best one we had on our whole trip. Nancy and I both ordered coffee's, the Americano was $5.75 and her Coffee of the Day was $4.00. For our breakfast we decided on the Bacon Quiche $7.50 and the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Biscuit $6.95 to share. The Quiche was on point; it was much better than the Biscuit Sandwich. Don't get me wrong both items tasted yummy it's just the biscuit was quite dry. Nancy had to ask for Jelly to spruce it up. They didn't charge extra for the jelly and after adding the jelly the sandwich was actually the bomb; something for the menu development team to ponder. There is not a lot of seating here but it seems most customers are in and out quick except for a few that are working on laptops and whatnot. All-in-all, a great spot for a quick breakfast or brunch and fresh ground and deliciously brewed coffee. I recommend them if you are in the area.

But overall it was a much better experience. The tasting at this small boutique winery was personalized: I sat at the bar and tried the "Premier Wine Tasting." Two choices were offered: dry or sweet; 5 small pours in total. I got the dry. The bartender was informative and, as I was the only one there at the time, I got his undivided attention. He even threw in two extra small tastes of wines not in the flight that I asked about, no extra charge. Though the wines were expensive, they were quite good and I did buy a couple bottles, wanting to return home with a collection from my travels and I liked the place. I also liked the fact that they allow customers to bring their own food. Many wineries prohibit that, even if all they have to offer is prepackaged charcuterie platters. And I liked their "Serenity Now!" tee shirt enough to buy one of those too, though I'm normally opposed to paying a business to advertise their own business. Views and the inside space were nothing special. But they do have concerts and a food truck most weekends. The stage and patio looked like a good place to enjoy some wine, snacks, and local music.
