I bought a piece of dark chocolate pretzel and a bag of chocolate raisins. Everything was fresh and delicious. It was a bit sweet at first, but after a few pieces, it was just right. 1st- inventory, wow barely anything, at least 1 display case is gone, the two remaining cases are just filled with duplicates case to case. Used to be a great and varied superior chocolate offering, colorful and joyful and definitely part of the holiday experience. Now "tastes waxy and off" as another contributor noted. 2nd Essentially they ran a very poorly worded "give away" that lists one of the prizes to be picked up in store as a $60 I store credit, but in reality when we went the person behind the counter told us it was only good online, this after he stepped away to call "someone" to get clarification. 3rd the service the last few times we were in there were lacking much in the way of friendliness or helpfulness. Such an adorable little place in Dahlonega, GA. They have all kinds of great treats and you can watch them making the goodies. Rainy day in Dahlonega, but we found shelter in this cute chocolate shop. Everyone chose one chocolate to eat. Salted caramel, chocolate truffle, mint chocolate and a white chocolate pretzel. The most hilarious chocolate shop I've ever seen. I come in and ask what the price of a peanut butter cup is. "It's by weight." He weighs it, looks me dead in the eyes, and says that it's $4.49. No, not a jumbo peanut butter cup. A single quarter sized cup for $5. Compared to a reese's which is only 75 CENTS a cup. I don't care if they grow their peanuts on the alps or have monks that brew their chocolate for years, that is highway robbery. I'm the kind of person to shell out a little for novelty and convenience, I would've even paid $1.50, but that's downright unethical read more

Upon arrival at the Barefoot Hills Hotel, the concierge made a special point to explain how the hotel has a partnership with Paul Thomas Chocolates in Dahlonega. She gave us a coupon that said (and she very explicitly said) it was good for one free piece of chocolate bark *per each person* in the party, so my partner and I were entitled to a total of 2 free pieces of chocolate bark. When we took the coupon to the chocolate shop, the young man working there refused to honor it. He said he had always been told to give one piece of chocolate only. We asked him to read the coupon again because this was not what it stated, nor was it what the concierge said. He still refused. My boyfriend told him that the partnership needed to fix its coupons if the shop wasn't going to honor them. I was especially disappointed that he refused to honor the coupon as we were buying about $30 in additional items, so it's not like we were just there for free chocolate, although if the store had a partnership with our hotel, we were certainly entitled to that. read more

There were two staffers near the gelato counter who were making what seemed like chocolate balls and a guy behind the register chatting with a couple people who were making a purchase. Did not realize that black people were still invisible in some places. Hovered near the gelatos. Looked around the store. Overheard the two staffers talking with each other. OMG chocolate lover beware. I have traveled the world and never have I experienced better tasting milk and dark chocolate I was fortunate to meet Willy Wonka himself whose name is Paul. I complemented him on the excellent service Lori gave me and the exceptional chocolate. Paul told me that Lori is his wife. Excellent chocolate. I especially love the coconut cashew crunch. And the Twinkie covered in chocolate was my kids favorite. I plan on sending these chocolates as gifts to all my friends and family I enjoyed them that much. Come-on, its' CHOCOLATE....what could ever be wrong with this place other than having an allergen to chocolate; OH the irony of that thought! (All apologies and sorriness to those people who do actually have an allergen to chocolate...I really do feel for you!) Despite the obvious competition to the older established local Fudge Shop of which I would frequent often when I attended the nearby college, Paul Thomas offers nearly the same luscious diabetic coma inducing products at competitive prices. My Fiance seems to think Paul Thomas has a bit better chocolate, but I'm at an impasse on that thought; I guess I'm just going to have to indulge in more chocolate from both shops in order to make up (never) my mind on the subject; pass me my piggy bank (better if it was Fort Knox)....I need money for chocolate! WOW, just WOW. Salty bacon covered in chocolate, heaven and you can get it with milk chocolate or dark. THEN what did I discover but chocolate with jalapeño and wasabi. I mean holy cow, they couldn't have done better if they had filled chocolate with rum. Good chocolate isn't cheap, this is good, so figure it out. You think Hershey's is good chocolate, don't go here. If you are a true chocolate lover, you MUST stop here. A GREAT NEW OPTION! This was my second chocolate shop visit of day. The first time, it was all about the caramel nut clusters and this time I decided to go with the milk chocolate options and the almond toffee. Lord, Lord, Lord, those little toffee bars were everything, clearly the star of the show. I am a nut for nuts so I did enjoy the almond, cashew and pecan milk chocolate clusters but absolutely nothing could compare with that toffee. This store was not just a chocolate shop, it was a really nice gift shop as well with plenty of items for purchase. Most of the gift items were Christmas themed to get you in the mood. If you walk straight ahead into the store, you will encounter the kitchen and can actually see the candy being made. How cool is that? This shop reminded me of my favorite candy shop in Pigeon Forge, TN, and is so nice to know that I now have another option closer to home. read more

First stop in Dahlonega because chocolate of course! SO MANY chocolate and candy choices, i had a really hard time narrowing it down. They had even had chocolate-covered potato chips and bacon. I settled on a half-pound of the truffles which you have many choices for. I made an awesome decision. You get 12-13 nice-sized truffles, impossible not to sit there and eat the whole thing. Honestly I wish I had gotten 12 of the dark chocolate raspberry truffles because holy crap, they were so delicious. They also have doggie treats which I got and my dogs loved them (bow-wow biscuits).
