First time visiting this restaurant for all you can eat hot pot lunch with my family. When I first walked in I thought I walked into the wrong place because it looked like a store at the front. You would just have to keep walking in to see the tables. The food options were great but I was quite disappointed with their dessert options as it was very limited. I also like how you get your own pots and you choose your own soup base. However during our meal, one of our pots stopped working. The waitresses tried to fix it but wasn't successful so we had to change to another table. Overall, the service was great but they should work on improving their dessert options.

Unique concept. You take a rolling cart around as if you are shopping for ingredients from a freezer almost the whole length of half the restaurant. Many options to choose from. But wasn't a fan of the additional foods you can choose to order off the online menu. Did not like the sushi here. I still prefer the traditional hot pot experiences but maybe that's just me.

**3.5 star** Came here for their lunch special at $23.99 pp and soup was included. There wasn't much variety but for the price I'd say it's okay. Dessert was very minimal with just jelly or ice cream (one per person). Upon entering, it's a supermarket and they have the seating in the back. The hostess explained the different menus and what was included. They have shopping carts for your food and everything was self serve. The food area for lunch can be quite cramped if everyone goes at once. I do appreciate the individual pots and the middle seats has coat storage. The restaurant is not tight but not that spacious either, but the lighting is nice.

This spot is the first of it's kind in the GTA. They have unlimited hotpot and sushi for just $59.99. this premium set includes Lobster, Dungeness Crab, Sashimi and Sushi. It's self serve and YOU get to shop for all the ingredients you want! There's also cheaper options available including their amazing lunch special. They have plenty of broths to choose from. I chose the spicy vegetable oil soup base. I'm a HUGE spice lover and I'm usually disappointed when I order spicy dishes. This broth delivered. My mouth was on fire with that tingling Sichuan heat. I love that the hotspots are personal sized. No more fighting over the ingredients!! My soup was so yummy. I also ordered some sushi and I was so incredibly full. I love the combination of both sushi and hotpot. Staffed were attentive and kept topping up our hotspots with water.

Can't make up your mind about what kind of food you want to eat? Check out Gourmet Tribe! You can have sushi AND hot pot! I think this type of place is pretty popular in Asia but this is the first I've seen in GTA. There are a couple unique things about Gourmet Tribe other than the fact they do hot pot and sushi. For both, you can do AYCE or a-la-carte. They have an AYCE hot pot menu and an AYCE hot pot + sushi menu at varying prices. Second unique thing is its setup. It's actually market-style! So you get up with your little cart and pick and choose your ingredients. Like an IKEA cafeteria. I had their AYCE hot pot. I thought the "pick-and-choose" aspect was a pretty fun activity. They had fresh ingredients and a good range as well between meat and seafood. They also had a variety of soup bases you could choose from. Their "market" is also split up into different freezers that hold the AYCE items and the "Premium" items. I took advantage of their birthday special a few months ago where they give you a "Wagyu" cake, or basically just a few thin slices of Wagyu on an ice block. Cute idea, didn't make much of a difference, but it got me to try it out! While I thought their Hot Pot was pretty decent, I'm actually more interested in their market aspect. I saw pretty luxe items like Foie Gras, Bone Marrow, and premium sashimi there. If I wanted to indulge at home, I'll know where to go!

Located on John and Woodbine came here with my family and friends. We had 8 people on the table. Pros: - lots of selection - soup included in price and each person can have a soup - table seating was huge where we sat - pretty cool supermarket-like experience - all you can grab ice cream Cons: - when we came the wait to be seated was SO LONG. There was only one person before us. Took about 15mins to sit us down. Some confusion with the reservation, we booked through opentable via their website. Maybe they're not used to it yet?? - when we were seated we were told to wait so the hostess can tell us how everything works. Had to wait another over 10 mins but we had to call her out to come to our table (we were seated right beside the hostess - the sauce station was so dirty, no one's really looking after it - hardly any sauce bowls/soy sauce container for sushi, I guess they're not being washed on time - we got the premium AYCE, two people had bdays and we were only able to get one of the wagyu bday cake - wagyu beef tasted like regular beef - beef in the freezer were freezer burnt - their sushi options were good but the fish itself was not that good. Felt like I was eating gooey salmon for example - the lobster was too watery so when cooked it tasted too sandy-like - a lot of the food was honestly not good - our used plates were cleared twice only - we had to yell for the staff to get their attention Truthfully it was just so chaotic and not worth it right now. Not sure if it's because they don't have a good enough flow.. I would not come here again and do not recommend.

Taking a hot pot experience to another level. I love the concept of market shopping experience where you walk up to the freezer and pick which food you want. At first it was overwhelming but as the more you walk back to grab your food again the more you get familiarized. There different sectors you find all the meats, seafoods sauces desserts and vegetables. Where food contamination is minimized and it stays fresh which makes Health Canada happy. Price level starts at /$40+ $10 for soup base, but if you opt for $62 this all includes soup base sushi crabs and lobsters. The beef is good tender and flavorful. Making your sauce is a bit challenging there are a lot of options but non what you really wanted. The frozen foods are well placed in the freezer however some of them are mislabeled where I ended up getting pork uterus. Dessert are limited unless you are have a sweet tooth I wouldn't recommend going to this place 1 fresh fruit option canned peaches and Neapolitan ice cream in 3 separate cups. The basic all you can eat will set you at $50 with $12 you will get sushi with is good but not the best and crabs and lobsters which are heavily salted that you can hardly take a second bite. Overall place looks very clean ample parking, price is on the higher side and I don't recommend paying another $12 to get sushi crabs and lobsters. It's been almost 6 hrs since dinner my lips are still dry and parched, i had only 2 peices of the lobsiand 1 piece of the crab that tasted so bitter because of too much salt. I can't say about the broth. Will probably try the $50 option next time

This is probably just about the most unique hot pot place I've seen so far. Built around a marketplace concept, the entrance is basically a glorified meat and seafood section of a supermarket, which you actually could buy and take home...but when escorted to your table, a brief stop to pick a paddle representing the type of broth you want, and then at your table, grab a shopping cart and head back to the fridges to pick your goodies. I had the $59.99 seafood premium set which includes AYCE Lobster, Crab, Abalone, Whelk, Sushi in addition to the standard meats and balls. Everything was fresh and delicious, except I'd maybe pass on the sushi, which was mediocre and a distraction from the greatness of the pre-cracked lobster. Do grab a cracker for the crab, though as that's not pre-cracked. Within 2 hours you should be stuffed. Hot tip - if you come during your birth month and show your ID they'll make you an A5 Wagyu cake!

I really like the concept, pay a la cart for meats but veggies and noodles and tofu are all you can eat. There are literally aquariums so you know the seafood is fresh! BTW you can ask for rice and it's free. For dessert they had watermelon, melon and cantaloupe and some tasteless clear jelly (???) That you squirt brown sugar syrup on. They also had raisins and hawthorn flakes idk i didnt really understand so maybe someone more asian than me could explain. I got the Tom Yum broth and found it so so, tastes more like coconut red curry than the delicious Tom Yum broth from Ajisen Ramen that will live forever in my memories. Cost after tax and tip and everything was $95 for two people and we had plenty of leftovers to take home.

The oysters are a good deal: $13/dozen!!! Don't order their sushi though, very fishy and overpriced.

After we checked out the fridge, we went to this table on the left to choose which broth we'd like for our hotpot.

Yeah!! I finally got to try an authentic Taiwanese restaurant at First Markham Place. "Hoja" means…read moredelicious in Taiwanese and that caught my attention since last year. The decor is full of colourful lanterns and simple furniture. However, the metal chairs are not comfy at all. That could be changed. The service was quick for lunch. I got the business lunch set which the vermicelli noodle soup came quickly. I wish it was hotter in temperature and that it had more coriander. I also had to ask for the black vinegar to go with it which it should have been given. The spicy sauce was already at the table. The pickled cabbage was a nice crunchy side. The winter melon tea was nice, but not enough tapioca since I paid extra for that. The popcorn chicken was amazing. They nailed that one and also, the deep fried tofu. It reminded me of my trips to Taiwan. The boiled veggies were a nice touch to the meal. To end it off, we shared a hot tofu dessert dish. Overall, it was a great experience. There could be some changes to the restaurant, but I know their focus is on two main traditional Taiwanese dishes.

Saw many reviews of this place when it first opened and I finally got to try it this year…read more Small portions but great if you are looking for something light. Got the mixed noodles and mixed chicken and pork rice. Also got the sweet potato fries to start, very sweet. It's similar to the honey butter chips. The noodles had a Smokey flavour, very different than any noodles I've had. Loved the intestines and beef, tender and flavourful. The space was nicely decorated. Order via app and pay at the counter. Food came out quickly, everyone looked cooked already on the hot table.
