Unfortunately, Selita's failed with the first impression. We walked past a very small bar and into the dining room, which had a musty smell. The green walls, red leather tufted seats, and mirrors on the walls gave the place a very dated, old-fashioned feel. Since it was our first time there, we decided to play it safe and just order a couple of appetizers. We had the grilled octopus and the eggplant Parmigiana. The eggplant Parmigiana was tasty, but we would not consider it an authentic Italian dish. The grilled octopus, on the other hand, was a completely different story. It was incredibly tough and chewy - honestly, it was like eating a garden hose. It really seemed as though it had been cooked ahead of time and then reheated. When we left, my wife looked at me and said, "We're never coming back here again." Unfortunately, I had to agree. That's really a shame because we genuinely wanted to like Selita's. It's close to home, and we were hoping to find a new local favorite. Unfortunately, that was not the case. I suppose that's the chance you take when trying a new restaurant.
