The service is very friendly and attentive--they check on you often without being intrusive. The cocktails are amazing, and the food is delicious with a modern, stylish presentation. The ambiance is cool and lively. It does get a bit loud, but you can still chat comfortably and no one is shushing you, which I actually like. We finally made a visit to Joey's for dinner and it was worth the wait. We were greeted by a friendly hostess. Our server John promptly came over to welcome us with a big smile and continued his friendly, knowledgeable and attentive service throughout the meal. We started with delicious cocktails. For an appetizer we had the Manila clams scampi style and it was delicious. The clams were tender, the sauce was so flavorful and the warm bread sopped up the sauce perfectly. For entrees we had the steak and cake which is grilled bison filet and a crab cake served with roasted potatoes and spinach. The bison was cooked exactly how we ordered it, medium rare. It was so tender and a nice change from a beef filet. The crab cake was full of lump crab meat. We had the the special, Prawns with heads on (they gave the choice of heads off but all the flavor is with heads on) with a corn risotto with peas, mushrooms and tomatoes that was heavenly. We didn't have dessert but we will next time because I can't stop thinking about the Bourbon pecan pie with vanilla gelato that I passed up. Joey's lives up to its name, the flavors are bold. My friend and I heard great reviews about Joey's so we had to go try it. The place was packed on a Thursday night. We sat down and found out that it was ladies night with a choice of a pre fixed menu. We chose the ladies night menu and we were glad we did. Our salads were fresh and delicious. We had lobster clams for our appetizers and shrimp lemoncello for our main courses. Everything came out delicious. Our waiter couldn't have been more accommodating and professional. The plus side was I saw local people eating there that I hadn't seen for years. We finished our meals off with pistachio tartuffo which was delicious. One of the better meals we have had in some time! Have been wanting to try this place for a while now and we finally made it, 6:30 reservation and seated as soon as we walked in. Great service from John, attentive and informative from the menu to drinks to special requests. For the older locals, they have "Lawson Pup" style steak tidbits on the menu and they were outstanding, if a bit small in size. Bucatini carbonara was outstanding as was the antipasta salad and the calamari. The owner Joe came over and we asked what his favorite dish was, he said the Beggar's Purse, we told him we were going to get that but had to get the tidbits, he brought us the Beggar's Purse on the house just to try! That is a great way to build your business.............and they were great! My only complaint is the noise, we had to shout to speak to each other, the place is extremely loud but worth it. The chopped antipasto salad was enough for two couples, but we also shared an amazing non traditional fried calarmari. There was a traditional option as well. The owner recomended the bison filet minion paired with a perfectly cooked crab cake which was absoultely delicious. My spouse and a friend had shrimps and scallops over linguini with a flavorful light red sauce which they both loved. Another friend had the ribs which he loved. The caupachino along with a shared different but decadent Tarimuso was enjoyed by all. We dinned for almost two hours.At least on a Saturday reservations are a must. Highly recomenrded. My friends and I went there for the first time last night. Our reservations were at 5 and the restaurant filled up quickly. My friend and I had the osso bucco which was served in a beautiful covered dish and my other friend had the steak and crab meat. They also ordered the eggplant meatballs to go. Only problem is a rather high noise level ... guess all the guests are having a great time. The drinks are well mixed and the wines are very reasonably priced. This trip our appetizers were Prince Edward Mussels...out of the shell, in a delicious sauce served in a sort of cocktail glass. If you like mussels then it's a must. The baby arugula "squash blossom"salad and the "Joey's sort of Caesar salad" were big hits. For mains, the Shrimp Limoncello, the Sole special and the Chicken Milanese were winners for all of us. I dined with a party of six and everyone was impressed with their appetizers and entrees. The sides that accompany main courses are simple comforts, like the roasted potato wedges and sautéed spinach that are served with the bison fillet and crab cake. The service was impeccable and when food was brought to the table the server didn't begin what I refer to as "the auction": "veal parmigiana?", "pork shank?"; They knew who ordered what. Desserts were wonderful, the Nutella empanadas were a stand-out with a light, delicate dough wrapped around the warm filling. Both food and wine prices are very reasonable. The waiter recommended a couple on entrees, so we went with them. Both were a hit, the beggars purse was in a rich vodka sauce with asparagus and prosciutto. Although it is noisy & crowded, the best food ever makes up for those things! The scallops on the half shell, the Shrimp Limoncello, the shrimp & scallops and the duck were awesome. Had a 6:30pm reservation. We had to wait. There were no tables available. Of course, they asked if we wanted to get a drink at the bar while we waited for a table to open up, which we did not.Five people walked in after us who had reservation and they were no tables available for them either. It took about twenty minutes past our reservation to be seated. We ordered two drinks which took quite a while to get. The restaurant and bar were packed with only one bartender serving both the bar and tables. We had lobster baked clams which were all breadcrumbs, hardly no lobster. My husband ordered the Beggar's purse. Portion was not very big. I ordered shrimp and scallop over linguine which was supposed to be spicy. It was not spicy at all and the red sauce was very watery. The place was packed and extremely loud with servers running around. We ordered second drink which again took a while to get. The best part of the meal was dessert.
