Definitely a disappointment. I came here on the recommendation from somebody I work with and I heard a lot of good things about the restaurant even from other people. The restaurant itself was clean and the booths were comfortable. Lighting was good, although the temperature was a little too cool and the room we were in. Parking is plentiful. We we're impressed by the extensive menu, morning breakfast options and the fact that dinners come with a potato and vegetable or pasta and soup or salad. The service was average. Although we thought it was a little bit odd that the wait person was telling us certain things weren't recommended because maybe they didn't sell well or didn't look too good. That made me a little bit uneasy, but I appreciated the honesty. Then came the food. The chicken Soup was good, but it could have had a little bit more pasta. I had the chicken francaise although the chicken seems like it may have been undercooked in certain areas and had a crunchy texture, which was very unappealing. The sauce was okay, but it wasn't anything to write home about. The mashed potatoes were definitely from a mix and they were disgusting, as was the brown gravy. The beets were the only thing I finished. I had the spumoni for dessert and that was actually OK. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place and we won't be back.

3 baked stuffed shrimp, butternut and apple mash, roasted potatoes and escarole chicken soup $16.99

Still has great escarole soup, fresh Italian bread, butternut squash and apple compote. I Usually get the 3 baked stuffed shrimp, with soup and 2 sides. The stuffed shrimp are fine if you don't eat the stuffing, just dip in some butter . They are always a bit overcooked- they should put less dressing or get the next size up of shrimp. The tails are always too overcooked and hard and you can't eat them. Always lots of food and the Service is always great. I see many of the same faces whenever I go - crowd during lunch is 70 plus .

Last time I was here 11 years ago I put in a great review about this place. When I came back to Rhode Island we were trying to find a place to eat and it's funny coz my review had come up. So we took a chance we were a little worried coz there were no updated reviews for this restaurant. I'm so glad we made it here again. Food still great , my husband had the chicken parm and I had the fried whole belly clams again which were meaty and perfectly done- melted in your mouth- better than some of the clam shacks we've been to during this trip.

I think for the price they charge they should do a little remodeling stuck in 70s, It looks dirty. It's too bad because the food is good

Very knowledgeable, told me about the Newport restaurants points app, fun ways to eat the dishes and gave the best description and inside scoop on all foods. Everything was seasoned well, and hot. Our only take away was if the porkchops had something with a different texture added to it. The bread pudding w the ice cream was fantastic as well, sweet gooey goodness. This is an accessible restaurant, with a ramp, automatic doors and handicap parking. It's a shared parking lot still, but there are signs indicating where you can or can't park. Low low music. Lighting is dim, space to walk between tables, clean bathrooms.

Our server, Jenna, visited our table soon after we were seated and brought us water. We were waiting for other members of our party, and she never made us feel rushed or pressured. While waiting, we put in drink orders and the "Lavender Fields Forever" cocktail that I ordered (Rhodium Gin, lavender syrup, fresh lemon juice, snap pea simple syrup) was so delicious, and garnished with a beautiful sprig of lavender flowers. We ordered two appetizers: Point Judith Calarmari and Corn Arepas. The calamari had too many tentacles and not enough rings for me, but the arepas were excellent. The cornmeal base was crispy and hot, and there was just the right amount of meat and toppings. For entrees, our group ordered the Chimichurri Grilled Chicken sandwich, The rigatoni with pink sauce and sausage with crispy chicken as an add on, the short ribs over mashed potatoes, the Wood-Grilled Bone-In Pork Chop, and the Rib Eye Steak. We all enjoyed our entrees. It is evident that Iron Works uses high quality ingredients and puts a great amount of care into the preparation fo their food. We split three desserts amongst the five of us: The flourless chocolate torte, the cheesecake, and the Banoffee Sundae. The flourless torte was rich and very chocolately, and the cheesecake was very good as well. I'm not a fan of bananas, so I didn;t try the Sundae, but the friend who ordered it enjoyed it. After dinner, we sat and chatted for awhile,, and we never felt rushed or pressured to leave. This was a very enjoyable evening in a great restaurant environment with delicious food.

We ordered the mini stuffies, the hummus plate, and the fried pickles. The mini stuffies were a highlight. Loaded with Mello's chouriço and packed with flavor, they're a solid little bite. My grandfather set the bar pretty high for me on stuffies, and these came close. They have a different profile than what I grew up with; a little less bready, more chouriço forward, and the clam flavor takes a back seat. Not necessarily a complaint, they were just different from what I'm used to and were genuinely tasty. The lemon aioli on top was also a nice touch. The fried pickles were exactly what you want them to be. Crispy, well fried, and the breading actually stayed put while you ate them, which is more than I can say for a lot of fried pickles. They came with the same lemon aioli as the stuffies, which worked just as well here. The hummus plate was a bit of a letdown. We've had it many times before and it used to be a standout. This time the hummus itself was thick and pretty flavorless, more like a dense chickpea paste than anything else. The accompaniments were nice though and consisted of heirloom carrots, cucumbers, olives, cherry tomatoes, asparagus, pickled cauliflower, carrot, and a pepperoncini, all served alongside some buttery round crackers that were like a Ritz cracker's more refined cousin. The veggies saved the plate, but the hummus needs to find its way back. I suppose it could have just been an off batch and won't prevent us from trying it again. Cocktails were great, as usual. I had the Anana with scotch. I love pineapple and this has muddled pineapple and basil, pineapple juice, cracked black pepper. It's my go-to here and it delivered again. My partner went adventurous and ordered the Jungle Booby, which is built around tequila blanco and mezcal with campari, pineapple, grapefruit, lime, orgeat, and an absinthe spritz. The flavors were genuinely good, but the smokiness from the mezcal was a bit much for her taste. She followed it up with a glass of rosé and had no complaints after that. The cocktail wasn't the problem, it just wasn't her style. One of our favorite spots in Warren for a quick nibble, for a good reason.
