3 baked stuffed shrimp, butternut and apple mash, roasted potatoes and escarole chicken soup $16.99
Wendy S.

Still has great escarole soup, fresh Italian bread, butternut squash and apple compote. I Usually get the 3 baked stuffed shrimp, with soup and 2 sides. The stuffed shrimp are fine if you don't eat the stuffing, just dip in some butter . They are always a bit overcooked- they should put less dressing or get the next size up of shrimp. The tails are always too overcooked and hard and you can't eat them. Always lots of food and the Service is always great. I see many of the same faces whenever I go - crowd during lunch is 70 plus .

Fried whole belly clams

Last time I was here 11 years ago I put in a great review about this place. When I came back to Rhode Island we were trying to find a place to eat and it's funny coz my review had come up. So we took a chance we were a little worried coz there were no updated reviews for this restaurant. I'm so glad we made it here again. Food still great , my husband had the chicken parm and I had the fried whole belly clams again which were meaty and perfectly done- melted in your mouth- better than some of the clam shacks we've been to during this trip.

I think for the price they charge they should do a little remodeling stuck in 70s, It looks dirty. It's too bad because the food is good

Always good food and wait servers. Basic good food. Great specials every day. Have a smaller appetite section! Corn chowder is to crave for.

It was acquired by a new owner about a year or so ago, but nothing has changed significantly, which is good. I love this place. It's my go-to, showcase restaurant for small company. It has a cozy yet classy vibe. There's linen on the table, and the service is spot on. It is not pretentious but elegant enough. I enjoy the vibe. When I am stumped about where to take a guest or guests, I never go wrong with this place--it's so close to me as well. It is one of Warwick's best-kept secrets. First, their dinner-for-two with a bottle of wine lives on, though I no longer enjoy the revamped menu, and the price has gone up. It's just better for me to order off the regular menu now. For starters, they have warm bread, roasted garlic that is so soft and moist to spread on the bread, olive oil, vinaigrette, and parmesan to par if you fancy. Their dishes are filling, and the dessert choices are ample. As a rule, I do not eat dessert after a meal, but here, that rule is kaput. So worth it. They also always give you complimentary limoncello shots. On my most recent visit, we ordered the Mediterranean Calamari for starters, the generous Seafood Pescatore, Pan Seared Black Bass, enjoyed with Meiomi Pinot Noir, and for dessert, something special that I cannot recall. Still, I knew it had caramel and toffee. Just go already. I promise you will not regret it.

Mostly Smoke and mirrors.... At first glance, their website…read morelooks impressive, their menu looks authentic, and their staff promised 'everything' made fresh and to order. But upon tasting their food, it was clear, 'Viola' is just another Americanized Italian restaurant. We started with an a la carte order of: 'House made focaccia, roasted garlic spread, evoo, craft butter' This was fresh and tasty. We then shared the 'Caesar: traditional romaine hearts, foccaccia croutons, shaved pecorino cheese. classic caesar dressing.' This lacked any flavour, the romaine was cut into too small pieces, there was no hint of garlic or anchovy in the dressing. But the most disappointing dishes were the pasta dishes: 'Fettucini bolognese, house made, beef, pork, veal ragu, pecorino, basil, calabrian Chili.' 'Scampi viola, squid ink linguini, shrimp garlic, white wine, julienned vegetables, preserved lemon butter.' Although the pastas were freshly made, their textures were compromised; both pasta dishes were not 'al dente'. In fact the Scampi viola was drenched in a dark gravy and greasy. This is just not a very skilled preparation of pasta. A fresh pasta needs very little sauce, and should be dressed very simply so the 'textures' can be enjoyed. I ordered the: 'Zuppa di vongole: fresh little neck clams, vino biqnco, fresh herbs, crostini.' But this dish was replaced by a fried calamari dish. This was well prepared, actually the only star of the evening. This restaurant may succeed on its 'blandness' but will never attract the discerning diner who wants and appreciates authentic Italian cuisine. ~tiaotse~

I had perused the menu so I knew what I wanted. The on site bread with roasted garlic and high quality balsamic vinegar and olive oil , you cannot help but over do on the bread. We split a Caesar salad which was done perfect not overloaded with dressing. We would both loved anchovies but it was a winner . I had the Basta chop with the lobster sauce on the side . The presentation was spot on with the bone in on the plate . I upgraded the side to lobster risotto instead of the pasta marinara . Which was a good simple freshly made marinara . My husband had veal Milanese . He could cut his with a fork it was so tender . I saved room for dessert for a house made very berry sorbet which did not disappoint. Lots of moving parts inside large bar, private party. Constant water refilling and taking away if plates . If you you are ever lucky enough to go there , you'll want to hurry back . They have several light dishes pizza appts etc. Of course our server Taylor was top notch , lots of young busses being trained in the art of hospitality.

The ambiance was absolutely beautiful, intimate, and perfectly set for such a special evening. The service was amazing as usual -- attentive, warm, and seamless even on one of the busiest nights of the year. And the food? Incredible. Every single time. We dine here often, and what I appreciate most is the consistency. It is always delicious, always beautifully prepared, and always exceeds expectations. One of my personal favorites is the veal chop -- but fair warning, it's definitely a two-person chop! Generous, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. However on this night we had the lobster à la bomba and the surf and turf! They didn't disappoint. Honestly, anything I've ever ordered here has been executed to the highest standard. If you're looking for romance, exceptional service, and unforgettable food, Basta never disappoints. It's truly a gem.
