Food was satisfing, but my order was sent to Old Town instead of Presque Isle. Other than the wait the food was sufficient.

Traveling through and stopped here for supper. We were somewhat hesitant because the reviews weren't great. Glad we stopped because the food and service were excellent. Tried that chain restaurant today. I was very please with my Ruben sandwich, Our server was great. Did find the place very noisy. But I guess it does give you, privacy. Will try it again next time in the area.t Yes, now we have been many time at the Governor, and beside the great food / prices, we have a favorite waitress, her name is "Kelly" She remember what we like from one visit to the other. Great setup and huge menu. I was greeted quickly. Waitress was quick to bring my drink out and take my order. I ordered two slices of meatloaf with the tomato glaze. My sides were mashed potatoes and peas. The food tasted better than it looks. Meatloaf tasted fresh and definitely was delicious. read more

This is hands down my favorite place to eat in Presque Isle, ME. Not only is the food delicious (I recommend the Turkey Bacon Spinach Melt and sweet potato fries), but the atmosphere is awesome. It feels like home right when you walk in. The wait staff is super nice and always working with a smile. If you are in town, definitely go to Governor's Restaurant for any meal of the day. I'm sure this restaurant could have better days. I'm positive they could. Unfortunately, I wasn't there for one of them. Unlike Brad said, this place is a Maine chain. And it shows. The prices are way steep for the quality which is good in some sections and terrible in others. We started with a appetizer of mozerella bites which were fine. Decent, whatever. The entrees were the real problem. One got a salad; good no complaints. I ordered broiled haddock. It was dry, bland, meh. The dinner roll and baked potato were good. The corn was canned and really watery. Stuffed shrimp was a huge problem. It was basically a half inch of nasty brown stuff with 6 (smaller than cocktail) shrimp sprinkled on top. And this was pushing $15. I would be ok with frozen shrimp but we were expecting something totally different. I felt bad just looking at that excuse for food. Dessert was decent. Carrot cake was dry, strawberry shortcake was good, and chocolate cake was giant and still good two days later as leftovers. There are much better places to go in PI. read more

The restaurant itself, is quite cute, the waitresses were extremely polite... however the wait times for dinner to be served was unreasonable. Never in my life had I EVER been served mashed potatoes with a "CRUNCHY" exterior. I have been informed the breakfasts served at Governor's Restaurant is completely opposite with the meals being served in a timely manner with large portions as well as being reasonably priced. Rest assured although Presque Isle, Maine lacks in the number of choices of restaurants, Governor's Restaurant would be my last choice better yet I'll cook dinner at home in the future. read more

We were there last Saturday big group 15 to 20 people. We had already made reservations a week before. They had time to get 2 servers but we had only one . she was nice and did a great job but waited on us 3 times for the couple of hours we were there: take orders, bring drinks and food that took more than an hour to get. My salad had 2 hairs. I ordered coffee that I never got. My kids left hungry cause for a plate that almost cost $10 each they got few fries and chicken thinner than my pinky. Our friends wanted refills but there was no body to call. Sad. I was really disappointed. I would have given them no star if I could. Anyways I emailed them, I got one response with an apology for the chicken that's all and not for the hair and service. I don't think I will ever visit governor's in Presque Isle read more

I go here practically every week for breakfast and occasionally for lunch. What makes this place great is Rose. She's a waitress there and very friendly and on top of things. The food varies from very good to just good. Sometimes the bacon is deep fried...not good. The breakfast there is almost always good, though. Lunch varies and is sometimes really good and sometimes not. The chicken fingers are great and sometimes the whole clams and shrimp are too. I have only had the haddock once and was not a big fan, but my daughter loves it. Prices at lunch are high but they do have some good specials. Breakfast is fairly affordable but strange sometimes. You can buy a meal separately sometimes cheaper than all together. I have not tried the cakes but they do look good. The eclairs are oh so good...but I don't even wanna know how many calories are in them! Overall this is a great place to go for breakfast and good for lunch too. read more

I had a very good breakfast here. No complaints. The food was good and the service was excellent considering that it was a busy morning. What really did it for me was the revolving dessert display. I'm a sucker for slowing spinning cakes and pies. We took a couple to go and they were fantastic. I loved the peanut butter cup pie. I wished I'd bought the whole thing. read more

i went there on Tuesday, 7/8. I noticed that the special was fried clams, so i ordered them, it was right about noon time. They were out, but no one told me till the other meals came for the rest of my party.......they did not charge me for my 2nd ordered meal, but it came out after all others had been served and eaten. i found the food to be good, jsut poor communication. read more

I usually enjoy food that I get from here. So Monday I purchased 6 whoopie pies to mail out to my daughter in Colorado. I kept one for myself. it cost me 24.00 to ship to them while is a lot but it's Christmas and something she associated with home. tonight I opened mine and it was not just dry and terrible it was old tasting. Governor's is very good, I love their wide variety of foods and the fact that they ALWAYS have something new. It's never just the same old stuff. Their breakfast buffet on weekends is one of the best ideas ever, and their food is always good. The only bad meal I've ever gotten there was the chicken alfredo, but the other hundreds of times I've been there the food has been great. Prices are reasonable too. Make sure you follow them on social media for all the specials they have going on, they do take out as well. read more

I was talking about how much I wanted to eat my favorite food here all day. I walked in was so excited, I sat down and ordered my favorite food. (Buffalo chicken wrap) we waited a long time but I was still so excited to eat it. While we were waiting for our food my family and I were taking about how this guy wanted to bench press me and I was joking about being 200 pounds. Governors has probably the best food in Presque Isle. I've eaten there many many times and have seen my share of mistakes, but overall it is a great place for the family to eat. Their Haddock fry is the best in Maine especially on Friday when you can get it for $8! read more

I love all governors restaurants! Except this one! The owner himself is pretty cool. But his wife, well she's something else! What a rude, and horrible person she is to her customers! I can't believe the things she is able to get away with! Her attitude when a costumer complains is as if someone killed her kitten. And don't you dare modify anything from the menu, because she'll act like you ran over her dog! Fortunately, I don't live anywhere near here, so I can enjoy governors incredible food, but far away the extremely uncomfortable atmosphere she creates! Quick trip to P.I. for business anda quick lunch at Gov. Had haddock nuggets and fresh kettle chips. Both were yummy! The menu is huge (they have it all). Seemed to be the only non chain in town worthwile. I will go again when back in P.I. read more

Very nice inside and i think its pretty friendly with kids they have a wide variety of deserts and foods to choose from but i honestly dont really like some of the food i dont know why but i dont like the spaghetti the sauce is really watery and the spagghetti is realy buttery i havent gone there for a few months so it might've changed what they were doing read more

Haddock is wonderful and something I usually order here. Cole slaw is creamy and very good. Breakfast brunch is good but pricey. Desserts look better than they taste. Pies usually have a hardened texture from sitting in the cooler too long. They are pricey for the area so they probably sit around longer. Drinks seem high priced and adds up quickly on the bill. Although I would love to give it five stars for the wonderful meals, I am disappointed by the rolls. Governor's rolls used to be created with delicious magic, made by the bread fairies. In the past year, the recipe has changed to form a lackluster block of bread. As a dinner roll enthusiast, I am not impressed because I know the full potential of Governor's rolls.
