    Little spread of available food.

The food available was good, service and staff were nice and ambiance's low-key but comfortable.

The new Govindas cafe called Kadamba

The new Govindas cafe on the street front is a fresh take on the famous hare Krsna cooking and all the things we tried were first class, tasty and well presented. Fresh juices and smoothies + a huge range of deserts that are very attractively displayed. They also have a table service menu with food art dishes by an Australian chef. Highly recommended if your in Brooklyn or want to try something fresh healthy taste and newly opened

Food tasted like it was made with love. Well priced. I doubt they're doing it for the profit.

Wow! Cheap! Delicious! Lots of food. Bring your vegetarian friend if you aren't too afraid of hare Krishna lol Taste: I had a lasagna (not expecting that), a chickpea dish over rice, a pea dish, a yellow curry soup, and a bok choy ginger dish, plus a salad. It was all flavorful enough for steam trays and the price. I didn't like the bok choy ginger dish but whatever. Experience: it feels like a basement high school cafeteria vibe. Not super exciting, but it's super fast and no one is trying to convince you to join a cult. Quick service Mood Before/After: I was happy before and after. Catching up with an old friend! Fullness: Super stuffed. You don't need a full combo. What else did I eat/do today affecting my experience: I had just gotten in from LA and my vegan friend from Paris was trying to convince me to take her somewhere she could eat. I suggested sweetgreen, and honestly this was way more fun. We just gossiped in the empty lunchroom and ate. It was like a weird spiritual high school fun.

This vegetarian cafe is linked with a national network of others that are run inside a Hare Krishna temple. I've been to the Govinda's in Honolulu and kalahandjis in Dallas. This one has the same clean tasty food and also a brightly decorated space. This location is in a basement so it lacks windows, and the buffet is not self serve and is limited to one trip. I had to ask the guy to add on some dishes he did not offer me like bread and salad. Don't be afraid to ask. You can take it to go to. Tuesday is lasagna day and the word on the street is that's the best day to go. Hours are 12-3 lunch only. This place is near many subway stops.

Food is delicious, Staff is nice, Atmosphere is lovely in the temple basement with nice music playing. Place was very clean. Drinks were cold and the deserts were all good. Some good vegan options as well as cheesecake (no eggs) Lasagna was very good.

There are a lot of traditions I don't follow. I don't go to church. I wear white after labor day. I open umbrellas indoors. But the one I will always observe is Thursdays are for eggplant parm! If you don't already know about Govinda's, where have you been? They were closed for a bit earlier this year, but they're back and better than ever. Go ahead and pay $12 for a complete meal. It'll be worth it, and you'll be full the rest of the day. When I walked in, they had just run out of eggplant parm, but that's a blessing in disguise because that meant a fresh platter was coming out! Oh so cheesy and delicious. And then you'll have the rice and veggie/bean sides to fill you up. Speaking of church, the space is in the basement of a Hare Krishna temple, so you can expect a quiet atmosphere with soothing music lightly playing in the background. Very limited cell phone service as well, so be in the moment!

    My delicious full meal!

Is it open as Kadamba cafe for now and can the page be updated to show that it's still operating and give photos and update the hours etc?

Yes! Govinda's now has a street level cafe, and new morning hours for the our local workers and work-outers! Stop by and let them know you are a returning Govinda's customer…

Have they reopened? On the ISKCON website they say open (not 'reopened' or 'open again') and Yelp doesn't list them as closed.…

Yes! not sure why it shows otherwise but they are open since mid February. Great Eggplant Parmigiana today!

Do they let in 18+ or is it 21 above only?

Dear Benedict, There is no age restriction at Govinda's. Please come by!

Is Govinda's still open? If not will they reopen? Does anyone know the new Address?

Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. I came with my family around 2:00 p.m. and immediately noticed that several of the items featured in the Instagram post, like fried catfish and mac and cheese, weren't even on the menu. We ended up ordering the fried fish sandwich, split pea soup, jerk wings, tamarind wings, a salad, and fries. The split pea soup tasted sour, as if it had been sitting for days, and was visibly separated in the bowl. I sent it back because I genuinely felt something was wrong with it, yet no one asked if I wanted a replacement and the soup was still left on our bill. The wings were just as disappointing. The jerk wings were wet, soggy, completely lacking in flavor, and tasted nothing like jerk seasoning. The tamarind wings tasted more like wings covered in sweet-and-sour sauce than tamarind, although at least those were crispy. Sadly, the French fries were probably the only decent thing we had. I really wanted to enjoy this restaurant and support the business, especially after seeing the post online. But based on the food I was served today, I can't see myself returning, even to try the "soul food" offerings that initially caught my attention. The experience was just that bad.

I've had Krupa Grocery bookmarked for some time and as I explore different Brooklyn neighborhoods, one can add KG as a gem in Windsor Terrace. When I think of gems I think of the neighborhood eateries I depend on for consistency in service, ambience and food. KG now sits alongside Hilltop Tavern as my go to for this area. The welcoming interior with its long bar, soft lighting and a menu that offers creative comfort options, one knows this will be an experience to savor. I chose the backyard patio to dine in a beautiful sunny spring day. There were numerous delicious options to choose from: shrimp or lamb burger, lemon ricotta pancakes, grilled cheese, soup and salads. I asked David, my server, what I should eat. "The breakfast gnocchi is a must". I ordered that and wow, what a delicious dish. My dish arrived and loved the presentation: two Sunnyside eggs covering the gnocchi, bacon bites, black kale in a squash sauce. It looked and tasted amazing. I ordered a side of toast to sop up the sauce. I highly recommend this dish. It hit the spot before my pre- Brooklyn Botanic Garden visit. There is a daily Happy Hour Monday through Thursday from 4-6 pm, brunch all day and there are special events. I will be back with a bigger appetite to try that shrimp burger and soup. Finally about a year ago I went for the first time, and now whenever I go to Park Slope during the early hours Little Purity is my go to spot. Located on the corner of 7th Avenue and 12 Street, a red, eye catching awning welcomes you as you step inside. There is an old fashioned counter (with seating) to the right and booths to the left. In the middle are regular tables and chairs. The rest room is towards the back and to the left. I usually wind up going to this diner in the early morning hours so it is not very packed (ex: before 9:30am on Sundays). However, once 10am passes that's when the waiting outside begins. The staff at Little Purity is fantastic. The owners are always welcoming and chat you up just the right amount to make you feel at home while not being intrusive. Service is always on point and quick, even during their busier hours. I typically have egg-based dishes.
