For many years when I visited Park Slope in the morning I would eat at Naidre's on 7th avenue. It was one of my "comfort spots" but when they closed their doors about a year ago, I was very sad but still needed a place to eat in the area. Fortunately, not too far away was Little Purity. I had walked by Little Purity many times in the past, but the crowds that would be waiting outside always dissuaded me. Finally about a year ago I went for the first time, and now whenever I go to Park Slope during the early hours Little Purity is my go to spot. Located on the corner of 7th Avenue and 12 Street, a red, eye catching awning welcomes you as you step inside. There is an old fashioned counter (with seating) to the right and booths to the left. In the middle are regular tables and chairs. The rest room is towards the back and to the left. I usually wind up going to this diner in the early morning hours so it is not very packed (ex: before 9:30am on Sundays). However, once 10am passes that's when the waiting outside begins. The staff at Little Purity is fantastic. The owners are always welcoming and chat you up just the right amount to make you feel at home while not being intrusive. Service is always on point and quick, even during their busier hours. I typically have egg-based dishes. Whether it is an omelette with cheese and veggies or eggs over easy, I have enjoyed everything I've had here. I also really appreciate the option of having a small cup of oatmeal in place of home fries. Even better? They'll provide a serving of hot sauce and home made jam at your request and you can use the jam in the oatmeal and your toast while the hot sauce is fantastic on eggs. To start it's a cute little diner type spot that is just so warm and so welcoming that you can't help but feel a little healed. Came here at the recommendation of the diners, diners, & diners guy and I'm so glad we did. Place is very cozy and we sat at the counter. Vibes were great. Owner was there and was super friendly to us and everyone else, as were all the other employees. Got the French toast with banana's and it was perfect. Like a top, top tier French toast. Also got a breakfast burrito but I'm not a big fan of rice and peas/carrots in breakfast burritos so the flavor profile wasn't quite for me, but it objectively was a really well made burrito. Also would recommend asking for the hash browns well done which I forgot to do this time. I think next time I'd like to try an omelet or classic egg breakfast instead, but I'll definitely get the French toast again. Coffee was awesome. Excited to come back. read more

This is a restaurant that knows how to treat its people, and its food, properly. A small restaurant located in Park Slope just off of 7th Ave (and a five minute walk from the F/G station of the same name), it is bustling with customers at 9 am. No need to worry about a long wait for a table though, customers are constantly moving in and out, and thought maybe the food moves quickly through here as well. Before coming here, I scanned the menu to see what was worth getting. I sensed a Mexican theme on the menu, and seeing a picture of Huevos Rancheros, I zeroed in on that. Now I will tell you beforehand, if you want meat and avocado with it, it will cost extra, but do it. It will make the plate more full, and your stomach. I also suggest ordering an orange juice with it to help with the digestion. The food does come quick, and it is immediately delicious. Everything is fresh and thorough and plentiful. I could not stop shoveling it in my mouth. Originally I wanted a corn muffin too but it they were already gone. No matter, I am already coming back here. It is only a question of when. My server, Nick, was amazing. Super genuine and intelligent, as well as good know-how of this restaurant. He was organized and personable. In fact, the rest of the staff was, though they appeared to be shocked that not only was this my first visit, but also that it took me a 30 minute subway ride on the F train to get here. Seriously, why do New Yorkers flip out when they have to go more than 15 minutes on the subway to get somewhere? 30 minutes is not bad at all. The subway was created for a reason. The prices are what reminds you that you are in Park Slope. However, the service makes you forget that. As mentioned earlier, I will be back, it is only a matter of when. read more

Had pancakes and a Chipotle sandwich was good. We were placed at the bar due to how busy it was when we arrived. So no wait but definitely people after us were waiting. Took a little longer for our food to come out than I expected but pancakes were fluffy. The sauce was excellent on the sandwich. The chicken was a thin cut and I think slightly overcooked though the rest of the sandwich made up for that enough that it's clear they know what they are doing. Typical diner feel but very packed... My friend and I ate here a few days ago and they are charging $2.00 extra for eggs, this is noted on the door, so no surprises, but we were wondering why the extra charge, when egg prices have been down for a while now? Absolutely unacceptable experience -- discriminatory, illegal, and rude. My pregnant wife and I visited Little Purity in Brooklyn with our fully trained and federally recognized service dog. Upon arrival, the manager refused us entry, claiming that dogs are not allowed -- even after we explained that our dog is a service animal protected under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). We are both attorneys and are well-versed in the law. The manager began incorrectly citing legal code and rudely dismissed our explanation. His tone was aggressive and demeaning, and as we were walking away, he sarcastically yelled "Have a good day!" -- a final insult after denying us access in violation of federal civil rights law. Let's be clear: this was not just rude customer service -- this was illegal discrimination. Under the ADA, service animals are allowed in all public accommodations, including restaurants, without exception. To make matters worse, the manager showed zero empathy or professionalism -- not even the decency to engage in a civil conversation. The experience was humiliating, dehumanizing, and frankly outrageous. If you care about inclusion, basic decency, and the law, I recommend you take your business elsewhere. It was like someone squeezed a dirty rag into the coffee pot, mixed in some mop water and called it cold brew. Good lord - I grimace just thinking of it. The food had good flavor but portions were significantly smaller than other diners at the same or a higher price. -thick fries: skin on fries that seemed more home-made. Very good. -home fries: little cubes of potatoes which I appreciate, would have like more onions (only got 2 pieces) and some peppers. - beef sausage: standard flavor. Only comes with 2 halves vs the standard 3-4. -philly cheesesteak: good flavor. served on a kaiser roll which is stated on the menu but makes this a lot smaller than most philly's that are served on long sub/hero breads. -grilled chicken sandwich: served on your regular supermarket-bought hamburger buns which is very small and squishy/falls apart compared to rolls on which most restaurants serve their chicken sandwiches. "Fittingly" there was only one piece of chicken vs the usual 2-3 in other diners. We will not be returning and do not personally recommend as I don't consider it worth the price. read more

Here's why I don't eat here anymore. The food is OK, you really have to check the bill and your change (have had problems), but the real reason is: that the owner consistently parks his Mercedes in metered spots, puts a menu in the window, doesn't pay for parking and gets away with it. He's obviously in cahoots with the parking cops. Also other employees do it - for years now. Just doesn't sit well with me. Not the best but not the worst. I ordered pancakes and they were the most mediocre pancakes I've had in New York. I always have high expectations when in park slope. It's too trendy and pricey in the area to provide less than stellar food. I ordered pancakes with blueberry and banana. It's like they forgot to put sugar in the batter. The fruit was perfectly ripe and sweet but didn't make up for the lack of sweetness in the actual pancake. Paid too much for too little and just plain bland. The coffee and service was good though. The waitress came by every few minutes to freshen up the coffee. And finally we were served quickly. They got us in and out. I've been here a few times (albeit less than I've been to the other Purity), but I can report that they cook two eggs, potatoes, and toast just fine. I don't like to be difficult, but I prefer the potatoes well done with a bit of crisp, and when I'm feeling saucy, I get my eggs over corned beef hash. I like corned beef hash. This most recent visit, my mom rocked avocado and toast. Not avocado toast, because this isn't that kind of place. She got a side of avocado and an order of toast, and put them together herself.
