Town Hall Grill Burger & Sweet Potato Fries
    Jenny D.

Went on a weekday afternoon and received our food extremely quickly. I believe our waiter was named Ryan(?) and he was the main reason why it was so pleasant to eat out. His enthusiasm and attitude were amazing and his recommendations were great as well. I got sweet potato fries that were cooked perfectly, not at all soggy. I also got the Townhall burger, which was pretty good, but I felt like the bacon definitely was overpowering (that just my weird taste), if you like bacon, that's definitely a burger for you. I am a little disappointed that the burgers are around $15 (on the cheaper side of the menu) and in order to get another side you're charged another $1.50. So it definitely loses a star for being so expensive for what it is. Burgers and fries. Overall, I definitely come back but probably for more special occasions. The place was clean and we were in and out in 40mins! (On a Wednesday)

So, 4 stars because the folks I was with had a great meal and would recommend. And they are mostly trustworthy people. The service was slow, and our server was not the sharpest crayon in the box, had a hard time understanding gluten-free options , or the kitchen was very unclear with him on options, which are both disconcerting. See picture on what $14 bucks gets you.

A friend introduced me to the Town Hall Grill a few weeks ago. I am glad that she did. I am smitten with the pineapple side down cake here. You have to try this dessert! It's is everything! I have also enjoyed the chicken wings, and the tater tots loaded with cheese, sour creams and pulled bbq. My orders have been served fresh and in a timely manner. I appreciate the attention to detail that the kitchen crew uses when preparing orders. I enjoy the environment of the location. The decor is complete with UNC memorabilia and the customer service is great here! The employees do a wonderful job at making customers feel welcomed. I've enjoyed each of my servers when I have visited this location (Matilda is pretty awesome!) Thank you to the Town Hall Grill for being a welcoming local restaurant. This place is now in my "don't feel cooking" rotation.

Our waiter, Alex, couldn't have made our visit more fun! Welcoming, nice, humorous, and answered all our questions as first time guests. We both enjoyed our meals. I had the nachos for lunch, which is definitely more than I could eat. My spouse really like the fish, but not as crazy about the fries that have a coating on them and the slaw is blah with a funky flavor. We'll return again to see how their burgers compare to their sister place, Town Hall Burger.

I love a good sports bar and grill, and THG had everything just right. The wings were flavorful and cooked perfectly, the beers were cold, the outdoor seating was plentiful and they were playing both the World Cup and then the UNC game too. I would definitely go back here to watch a game or just relax with friends. Great service all around despite being completely swamped with patrons.

The star of the show in my opinion were the hush puppies and the corn and wild mushroom risotto. There were sooo many different flavors that perfectly complemented each other. I was blown away. And the pig cheek on top was incredible. 500/10. Our server made great recommendations! Then-- chaos and heartbreak ensued in the form of a fire alarm. We were forced to evacuate the restaurant as the fire department arrived , leaving about half our meal on the table. After 30 or so minutes of waiting out in the cold (we were apparently the only guests who hadn't paid out yet) our server came to find us. He asked us if we wanted to just give him our credit card information and he would ring us up later, when the fire department gave them the ok, as he understood not wanting to wait around. It broke our heart to leave our leftovers, but we agreed and went to go get the car. Thankfully we are stubborn.. and optimistic to a fault. And by the third time we circled around the block, the fire truck was pulling away. I ran in and asked if there was any chance our food hadn't been thrown away yet, and it hadn't! The staff was happy we had been able to come back, and they packed everything up for us, even taking the hush puppies off the bill and sneaking in a complimentary piece of key lime pie. I'm so glad we were able to tip our server appropriately for his great service-- and rescue our leftovers. Happy ending. All was well. (And the fire ended up being something innocuous in the unit above the restaurant)

I got the two empanadas with aside and was able to try both the chicken and the pork. I think I liked the chicken a little bit more, but both of them were very good and the plantains were also very good. Not overly sweet, but also not super dry. I will say the parking is kind of annoying without parking space directly nearby. Had to park in the parking garage across the street. The server was very nice and mindful of waters and when we needed things. I will say almost $20 for a regular dish seemed very expensive but the food was pretty good so I would probably come back - just for the cheaper empanadas as they were pretty filling as it was. The one thing that kind of threw me off was how they set the table with their water cups upside down, touching the table. I wouldn't say that I'm a clean freak, but also that seems kind of gross to me because that's where my mouth is going to be... I'd probably do something different there myself. This definitely is more of a Chapel Hill / Carrboro money type of dining experience $$ but I'd be back on nicer occasions. The pastry on the empanadas were very good. We were told that we could order something else, but that the steaks would remain on the bill because quote "the manager feels these are quality cuts of meat". So, there was no effort to accommodate us, the customer. No offer of remaking the meal, no nothing. Instead, we were treated like we were trying to get a free meal, when we clearly wanted to try another menu item. We were trying to salvage our Valentine's meal and instead we left after less than 45mins with a $200+ bill and a pair of rubbery steaks we still cannot eat. I enjoy cheese plates, and this one was great, but I can understand it may not be for everyone. My wife ordered the Red Fish, which had a more Southeast Asian-inspired twist to it.
