I never thought I would find a car buying business that is a bigger waste of time than Carmax and TDA. I first heard of GMTV on the radio and decided to check out their website and found that they guarantee $100 over Carmax's offer so I decided to give them a shot. I submitted my Carmax offer to Rob Ball along with a few other offers from other dealerships and he says that he will match the offer and pick up my car onsite. Sounds better than having to find a ride back from the dealership so I decided to go with GMTV's offer. I am put in contact with Laura, their logistics coordinator, to schedule the pick up of my car. GMTV shows up the next day as promised and when the inspector is done checking out my car for the condition I reported it in, he give me the okay. When I am about to sign my title over to them, he asks me if I have the original suspension for the car. I tell him I do but I was never instructed to bring it with me (see attached pictures of required items for the sale) and I offered to go get it from my house (20 minute drive) if it was needed. He then has to call the senior buyer, Kyle (which I find out later never wanted to buy my car in the first place), to ask him what he should do since I didn't have the suspension with me. Kyle tells him that the suspension was part of the agreement and told the inspector to terminate the deal since I didn't "hold up my end of the deal". No big deal, I called Rob to ask him what I should do since Kyle decided to terminate the deal and Rob suggests that I can drop my car off at Car Transport the same day (Saturday) with the suspension and the deal would still be on but I would have to wait for the check to be mailed overnight since they voided the original check... fishy.... but I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt since Rob assured me there was nothing to be worried about. At this point, I make the 25 minute drive from my house after I picked up my suspension to Car Transport just to find out that THEY WERE CLOSED!!! I immediately called Rob to tell him that there was no one to receive the car and he said thats just how they operate on Saturdays and that I can leave my signed title and key in the glove box and there would be one of their drivers to receive it later since they were out picking up other cars. He told me that I should get in contact with Laura so that she can send me a Fedex number to track the shipment of the check overnight. SECOND RED FLAG!!! After discussions with Rob and Laura, Kyle finally decides to give me a personal call because up until this point, he has been hands off with the transaction since he never wanted GMTV to buy my car in the first place. Kyle tells me that he told Rob that he never wanted the car and that I should take my car to the other dealerships that GMTV matched offers with because he didn't want to waste anymore time with the deal and he decide he was going to retract their offer on my car blaming me for not bringing the suspension during the original pick up. The ONLY reasons I decided to go with GMTV is because they offered pick up and because I didn't want my time wasted. Instead, I was given an offer, had the transaction terminated on site, instructed to dive my car out of my way, instructed to leave my signed title with keys to the car unlocked and unattended, and finally - have the offer retracted with the blame being on me. IF you are considering going through GMTV, RECONSIDER!!! They WILL waste your time, find a way to screw you in the end, take advantage of you, try to steal your car, blame you for backing out of their signed deals, and anything else other car dealerships do but much worse. Best part? After they retracted their deal, they didn't even live up to their website guarantee of mailing me the $100 check they promise on their website for not being able to beat Carmax's deal. GMTV is a SCAM and they WILL make you regret ever submitting your car for them to appraise. read more

I heard a radio ad about this place and decided to give it a shot. I have been in the car business before so I knew going in I would not get a retail price for my car. I put in the info on the website and sent numerous pictures. I initially got a price range on their website for $18,500-$20,300 to buy my 2016 Ford Focus ST. I was pleased with the results and figured I could hopefully get midrange between those 2 numbers since my car is in excellent shape. I received a call about an hour later from a very nice individual. He commented on how great the car looked and gave me the details on the process. After giving me the info he said he needed to speak to his sales manager to get to an exact number and would call me back. I received a call from him about 45 minutes later stating there was a "computer glitch" and it overestimated the price on my car. He said it was actually only worth $15k but due to the inconvenience the manager would give another $1000 to bring it up to $16k...still over $2000 less than the online offer. I feel this is a "bait and switch" type operation they are running here. read more

I sent in my vin two weeks ago, got an email that they would follow up, nothing,,crickets. Sent another day before yesterday, two responded, Dustin and Kip. Now the joke begins, they send me a quote that is $4K lower than the dealer offered on trade!! Now this isn't even a "front line" car I'm trading in. Loved the radio show for years. Finally had a truck I wanted to trade in. Gave my info, and I was immediately referred to some used car broker. All they did was run my vin, and get an estimated value off that. They didn't bother to check and see what all I had with the truck, condition, upgrades, absolutely nothing. Simply ran a vin, compared with what I said I owed and referred me somewhere else without even contacting me. Oh, and I had to call back 4 times over two weeks before I ever got anyone to even look at my vin submission. My truck vin reads a cab and chassis. So it is unknown what all comes with the truck unless you ask. I would give zero stars if that were an option. What a joke. Have never listened to the radio show again. Very disappointing read more

Let me tell you about what started as an OK sale. Give Me the VIN made me a decent offer, not great but good enough to keep me from driving to CarMax or dealing with Craigslist and all of the lookie loos. It went horribly wrong when the driver showed up three hours earlier than scheduled, I was busy with a new car purchase at a dealership and the driver stole all of my personal belongings that were still in my car. I had planned on going home and emptying the car after I was done purchasing the new one but their driver took the car along with my wife's wheelchair, her handicap plaque, an almost new GPS along with its case, beanbag and other accessories, a new Yeti coffee cup, my favorite CDs (yes, I still listen to CD's) and lots of other personal belongings. FYI, I went to the auction house where they took my Charger and all of my belongings had been removed from the car, they pulled up their security camera and no one touched my car from the time it was dropped off so everything was removed before it was dropped off, IE, the GMTV driver. Every impressed, I sold a 2015 Mustang GT 50th Anniversary option. I have bought and sold over 60 cars, this by far was the best experience of all the deals. Gave my vin with some photos, a few emails we had a deal that was fair I think for both sides. Only concern I had was getting a check for my title. The check cashed with no issues whatsoever. I currently have 5 cars to me one too many, have to call to see how and if John can get me out of a new paid upfront Genesis lease, my only car not cash, will not do that again. Completely misleading advertising and website. I've got an older Car that is in not-that-great-shape. It runs, but needs some TLC. I bought a new car, and submitted it to GMTV, and they offered me $500 for it. It's pretty much a hunk of metal now, so I accepted. Then they tell meI have to take time out of MY schedule to deliver MY car THEM, 25 miles away. The buyer, Jeff, informed me that they require this on $500 offers or less due to the failure rate of vehicles. This policy is not listed anywhere on their website. And is misleading from their advertising of "so easy you could do it in your underwear." What irked me the most was the bait and switch after the offer has already been accepted. I was contacted immediately and given an offer that was a little lower than Carmax. I sent the Carmax appraisal in to Givemethevin.com as proof and they said they couldn't beat it. I went to givemethevin.com, uploaded info and photos of my truck, and was given a price range. I selected "Accept", and was contacted by one of John's people. I talked to him, and he managed to get me $500 more than the low end of the range. It was more than I would have gotten from a dealer, and maybe close to what I could have sold it for if I had sold it to an individual. I accepted the offer, and within a few days, they were at my house. They briefly looked the truck over, drove it around the block, and handed me my check. We signed the paperwork, and it was done. And no I don't care about the 100 dollars they offer if they can't beat their price. Too good to be true, is what I thought when my husband suggested we try Give Me the Vin. Dealership offered me $7,000, GMTV offered $8,000 CarMax offered me $10,000. I gave GMTV an opportunity to out do CarMax, they did by $100. Yea, not a lot more BUT GMVT makes selling your car SUPER EASY. We needed to get a copy of the title (since we couldn't find ours). This meant at least a 3 hour round trip to downtown Houston. They could and did handle the title process without me having to drive downtown and waste an afternoon. They did beat the car max offer by $113 and offered to pick up the vehicle from the house. They were supposed to be here to pick up my vehicle an hour ago and after countless phone calls, they finally called me back and said that they would be here in another hour and 15 mins. As soon as i told him he started the song and dance and started to try and sale me on why my car was not worth that. I sold a car through Texas Direct Auto about a year ago. I decided to try GMTV on a recent transaction. I found the process to be a cheesy used car type approach. The hassle free process they describe on the website is anything but the truth. I received an email asking "what will it take to buy your vehicle". When they finally gave me a price they had really lowballed the offer. I took the vehicle to Texas Direct and got a check for 20% MORE than GMTV had offered. Apparently GOWOLFE also goes by Give me the Vin. I didn't really get a great feeling from them. I worked with Aaron Mendoza. One, he would text and not give his name so I had no clue who I was talking to until I got an email which is weird customer service despite me asking who he was and getting no response. Maybe he was too lazy. Second, they give you the lowest nada price. For example, if you were trading your car in you would get the lowest rough trade without them even looking at the vehicle. They dont come out and even look at the vehicle like their website states. It was a waste of my time. My vehicle sells for 23k on auto trader but they were trying to give me 15k. HA! So they can profit 8k. I don't think so. It is for someone desperate for cash so they can take advantage of you. read more

Wow! This has got to be a game changer. I sold my Civic from my couch. I felt like top dollar was $15k. Brad sent an initial offer a little low but I explained a couple things and ended up at $14500. For somebody not physically seeing the car, that was pretty good. I know they got a good car but still, paying top dollar for a car you haven't seen is crazy. Next I waited for the catch. It never came. They must have a strong staff because they got everything wrapped up within 2-3 days. They brought a check and picked up with no problems. I don't think it's fair to review these guys on their offers as much as their process. Im sure they won't be higher on all of them because their disadvantage is doing it sight unseen. If it doesn't work out, you probably wasted 5 minutes of your time. Going to dealers and not working out takes a good part of a valuable day.
