We noticed this cute empanada shop several times on our way home, but never stopped by. Today we randomly decided to give it a go, and boy am I glad we did! Upon recommendation by the owner, we ordered the Philly cheesesteak, beef, and chicken chipotle empanadas. They were all so delicious and flavorful, especially with the homemade sauce that they come with. Our favorite was the beef empanada! The service was great, the owner and his employees were so friendly in helping us choose what we wanted to order and gave us two complementary dessert empanadas which were delicious as well! They opened recently amidst the pandemic and I will definitely be supporting this local business more often! They were clean and maintained a 6ft distance. So glad we found this place! read more

As a local business owner who has an upcoming event, I went in to inquire about their product and gain information. About a week later I called to place an order at the Empanadas to Go location in Hamden, CT. I spoke to the owner (at least the individual at the other end said he was) and was meet with such nasty attitude. I was trying to place an order and explain what flavors I wanted, when I was constantly interrupt by the owner saying the price is the price don't ask for a deal, meanwhile; I never asked for a deal as a business owner myself I was willing to pay full price and never even ask for a discount. Originally, when I went in with my inquiries, I was told that I could substitute (2) flavors in a specific package, when I called to actually place the order, again the owner interrupts and says only (1) substitution is allowed. Clearly this place of business foes not respect or value their community members, patrons or potential patrons. Such a horrible experience and first impression. Do Not spend your hard earned $$$ in businesses that disrespect thir community members. read more

Amazing food. I had just learned of the restaurant in the last few days. Called this morning to find out their hours and stopped by to pick up dinner. Easy to get to. I live in southern Hamden, so I drive by the side street where this place is almost every day, but I only noticed it a couple of weeks ago. I stopped in today. I'd never had empanadas before, but these were wonderful. I tried the veggie versions (spinach and cheese, mozzarella and mixed veggies). Fresh, hot and delicious. Cooked after you order them, there were a couple people ahead of me, plus a couple of people picking up orders, but the service was pretty quick. I didn't get the name of the guy running the place, but a real nice guy. Like Anna said, you can't beat a place that does one thing and does it well. We spotted this place on our way to pick up food we had ordered elsewhere. We stopped on the way back to pick up some empanadas just because we love empanadas. As fate would have it, the empanadas saved the day, as the original food we picked up at a place down the street was subpar and, sadly, not worth eating. The empanadas we got were fantastic! I was getting gas across the street when I spotted this place. I am glad I stopped! I ordered the grab & go box and a few other items to take home. My family loved the empanadas! They were packed with filling and the spices weren't too overpowering. The sauce that came with the empanadas was light and refreshing. The staff there was very friendly and answered all my questions, brought my food outside while I waited and I was off within 8 mins. 5 stars. I'm definitely trying the tacos next time! Wow! This place is amazing. The best Empanadas I've ever had! So many to choose from. There has to be 12 different kinds. They also have baked empanadas if you want a healthier option. Everyone there is super friendly and will customize anything on the menu. The roasted pork (pernil) sandwich was amazing! They made it Cuban style (not on the menu) it was awesome and HUGE! I also tried the beef, shrimp and chicken empanadas. I can't decide which is my favorite. (You have to try it with their special sauce on the side)This place is a hidden gem! Unique place for the Hamden area. I live nearby and have passed this place up as an option many many times thinking it wasn't anything to miss. However, I stopped in today and was pleasantly surprised. Everything looked and tasted fresh, and you can tell they have passion for what they do.
