When I pulled the truck in for a price, Frank didn't exactly say no but he said "you got a lot going on with this truck" and pointed to the rusted through areas in the hood, the completely paintless roof, the many dings and a rear quarter panel that was a different color. He explained he'd have to work me in between insurance claims that need quick turnaround and it might take awhile. He also said no one really want to do a good paint job anymore because it's labor intensive. Husband and I I talked re the pricing and agreed we wanted to keep this little truck but give it a new look and protect it. She has 237k miles and we've taken good care of it. To say Frank is friendly and a perfectionist is an understatement. He was honest in the extensive timing and we kept going by to check on it. Been working with these guys since the end of August 2019. He is how we met…read more We started home back to LA, after spending the 4th of July in Alabama. On the way home, we threw a rod. We limped the truck back to our property in Alabama and picked up a rental. Once back in LA, my dad and me looked all over for a replacement engine. 6.6L Duramax for a Chevy 2500. We talked with at 15 folks about getting an engine. Some were pulled out of their trucks after being in accident's or other strange things. A few of the remanufactured shops we contacted, had prices through the roof. Some of the prices for a used engine were down right scary. I told my dad, why pay for a used engine, that we have no idea of the history on. So we looked more at getting a remanufactured engine. A lot of the places had scary prices, that would make you not want to deal with them. Just by luck, I found MTZ on Craigslist. My dad liked the price, so we ordered a remanufactured engine and asked for it to be sent to Alabama. The engine arrived on time. We brought one of our friends from LA to help with the install, but he ran out of time before he is could finish. Dad and me tried to figure out how to finish hooking up the motor, but at some point it was above my echelon of repair skills. We decided to send it to the local dealership, figured they would be able to get it completed. The guy from the dealership got the truck hooked back up and started, but ran into some coolant leaking issues. He believed that it was a blown head gasket and could fix it, if I gave him my first born, left kidney and right testicle. Toooo much money for the job, so I took it to another shop to have them run a diagnosis and trouble shoot the issue. The new mechanic said the same thing, blown head gasket. It's been months and now to hear this is heartbreaking. Dad calls MTZ upset and ready to do legal work against them, they say bring us the motor. The motor had zero road miles on it, just start and running for a few minutes in the different shops. After the motor is pulled and loaded up, I head back to Houston to have it checked to see what happened and if it was damaged, or pick up a replacement. As soon as I get to the shop, they off load the motor and in front of me, remove both heads. Well come to find out, the head gaskets were still good. Come to find out, on the back of the motor, the back plates did not make a complete seal. Since it did not seal, water was leaking it the exhaust and the oil(wish I would have known that, before driving all the way back down to Houston). I gotta say, these guys went out of their way to work on a problem, they did not create. Speaking with the owner, he expressed how in this business. They can make mistakes and will honor anything they did wrong and try to fix it. But in my case, even though they didn't have to be cool about a problem they didn't create, they were down to troubleshoot and ensure, the product I'd be taking back to Alabama was good to go. I will be heading back to Alabama in the next few minutes, with a motor that was disassembled cleaned and reassembled with another new head gasket installed. I'm giving five Stars for the customer service part right now. But my truck should be running in the next week, and I will do an update. But from the warm and fuzzy feeling I'm getting from watching these guys work, I believe it will be just as good next week.

If you want highly untrained, ignorant, deceptive, disrespectful, and uncouth "mechanics" who smokes cigarettes in your face directly in their jail-cell of an office to tamper with your vehicle, then please bring your ride to these racist idiots. Though my story is far from uncommon, my experience at this shop was maddening. In May of this year I brought my 2001 Ford Explorer to the owner of the shop (Rodney) and his computer illiterate "mechanic" (Fred) for an AC repair. Off rip, I got a red flag when the two became comfortable enough to talk racially against white mechanics within a ten minute span of my arrival, but I didn't run for the hills because I was desperate to get my AC repaired in this scorching Houston weather. According to Rodney, two of my valves were leaking and needed to be replaced at a fee of $240, which my extended warranty company and I paid, but within 10 hours of leaving their shop, I was having AC issues again! Therefore, I took my vehicle back and Rodney "suddenly" discovered another leakage but within my compressor (which should have been obvious to a blind man seeing how the compressor is the damn heart of any vehicular AC system). So, Rodney issues me a new bill and agreed to apply $102 as credit to my new bill ($740) for the AC compressor kit, if I used their service again, or a refund of the $102. I agreed to the credit being applied to my new bill, however, no work was performed on my vehicle because I was injured on the job the next day and was focusing on therapy and getting better. Keeping Rodney in the know about my situation, I brought my vehicle back to Rodney's shop on 08/25/18 at 7:30 AM (after working a 12-hour shift), but Computer-Illiterate Fred Finally arrived at 9 o'clock, an hour late. After Computer-Illiterate Fred rudely sneered at me and ignored me for approximately 20 minutes, pretending as if he was busy, he finally instructed me to fill out the necessary paperwork for my vehicle and informed me that Rodney was on the way. Well, Rodney arrived before my Uber and to my dismay, told me that he cannot work on my vehicle because he was busy moving a heap of illegally parked cars from his location to other locations at the demands of the state, and that his next availability would be the following Tuesday (08-28-18). Moreover, Rodney informed me that his secretary wasn't there to deal with my extended warranty company and that Fred was too computer-illiterate to deal with them (which doesn't make sense because Fred already knew everything about my vehicle so it would be a cinch to answer freaking questions from my extended warranty company). So, I canceled my Uber and of course, I was charged for the cancellation, and I told Rodney that I will be taking my vehicle elsewhere and that I wanted to cash out my credit. Then, Rodney quickly changed his mind and told me that he would squeeze me in for the day. So, I called another Uber and left my vehicle at the shop. Mind you, my extended warranty company closes at 3 PM on Saturdays. Well, by the time, Rodney finally called me, it was passed 3 PM, which meant that I would not be able to facilitate the payment for my repair that day. Of course, Rodney told me that he could repair my AC system within 2 hours the following Tuesday but I had had enough of their lack of professionalism and informed Rodney that I wanted to cash out my credit to take my vehicle elsewhere, but he refused and now I'm dragging his a** to small claims very soon. They had the gall to say he needed a new carburetor because it wouldn't start. He told them the carb was almost brand new and nothing was wrong with it and they never mentioned it again. It was also a half tank of gas less than when it was dropped off. I won't even bring it back to have any of this corrected, I have no trust in this shop.
