Coffee was only lukewarm! Server couldn't even warm the mug in a microwave. Not a good sign for a coffee shop!

Too many times have I been there and watched flies dance on all the pastries while I was waiting to order. It is not an isolated event. Can't recommend this place at all. i went to Cottage Grove location of Grace Coffee as a first timer. The order taker showed me 3 sizes of coffees so I asked for the largest. My friend ordered medium size. when we got our order the coffee was in mugs, same size. Refills are free if you have 15 minutes to wait. My friends pancakes did not come with my meal. she got her food a good 15 minutes after I did and she had ordered pancakes! Never again! How do they stay in business? read more

This is a cute little coffee shop with nice ambience. There's plenty of seating, tables in areas with dividers for those who prefer more privacy, and a few antique-looking couches to lounge on as well. The walls are black with a white floral design and there's all sorts of plants, so the shop has a relaxing feel with just a pop of color! I ordered the avocado toast with scrambled egg and it was a large portion that's very filling! Oftentimes, restaurants will have thin pieces of toast but Grace uses thick slices of sourdough bread which makes a big difference in the quality. The "scrambled" egg was more like an omelette but there was still a bit of runny yolk which was delicious. The avocado was creamy and fresh as well! I felt like the cashier was friendly and good at giving suggestions, but the reason I'm only giving 4 stars is because they stood there talking to the woman in front of me for a good 2-3 minutes after she finished ordering. read more

The food and ambiance is amazing. Too bad the customer service has been lacking the last few visits. Very rude comments from one of the servers. The dishes piled up everywhere and staff member on her phone. Didn't receive sour cream with my entree and another rude comment from the staff member. There needs to be better management of this lovely coffee shop. Plan to return but next time I will only order coffee and limit my contact with staff. Having said that they don't come close for quality or price value to west side gotos like La Baggette or Monona's Javacat and Crema. The Prairie Lakes area in Sun Prairie has needed Grace Coffee for a long time! The wait has never been long in the drive-thru and the service has always been very friendly. Their beverages and bakery items are amazing! The chai latte is better than Starbucks by a mile. Their bakery items are fresh and not out of a package like SB. Will come here for the pastries alone. Nice, new location. More convenient parking than their East Wash location. They also have a drive thru but no patio. Love their bakers challenge pastries as well as their fruit danishes. Husband enjoys the strawberry nutella croissant and the kids like the chocolate croissants. Brought my sister, who's from out of town, 2 days in a row because she thought it was amazing. Love their 64oz cold brew with oat milk. This place is a joke. It was the first time I've gone here and I ordered a small iced white mocha and a blueberry muffin. First of all it was $10 !!!!!, second of all the white mocha tastes burnt and like a brewed coffee, and the blueberry muffin was so dry and had no taste, absolutely no taste. I don't like that you have no way of knowing what coffee they are brewing. If I wanted pour over I'd just make it at home, I prefer a coffee shop brewed coffee. There are some coffees that I hate the taste of and some that hurt my stomach. Since Grace only brews one coffee a day and there is no way to find out what it is (like even a phone number), I just won't go there again. Everything Jack W. said was exactly my same experience. For avocado toast with a cup of coffee, after tip I spent nearly $17. What I got was average coffee, soggy bread (there was no toast) with what looked like store-bought guacamole and some lettuce thrown on top. The girl working the window needed help in the customer service domain as well. No "thank you", no "have a nice day" ... just "here's your toast" and she was gone. As others have highlighted, the business can fix the service issues if they want. But I won't bother returning. Crema in Monona is substantially better. read more

I was doing some last minute grocery shopping and decided to get a coffee so I went to Grace for the 1st time. the line was not too bad at the drive-through. At the ordering spot their digital display was promoting pumpkin spice everything food drinks ecetera, so I decided to order a pumpkin spice latte. Sadly, I was told that they don't have ANY pumpkin stuff on their menu currently, they have peppermint and christmassy stuff; well they should probably change that sign then! I ordered a medium hazelnut latte and a medium dark roast coffee, black. I was then asked if I want that latte iced. Well it is negative 4 degrees right now in Sun Prairie, WI, so there's no way I would want it iced. I just thought that was very odd to be asked that. I had to confirm 3 times the size of my drinks so I don't think I was speaking a foreign language, so maybe she just couldn't hear me through the speaker very well. She asked if I wanted cream or sugar in the drip coffee and again told her black. So when I paid she took my card I was not handed a receipt and I wasn't asked for a signature for my card but she thrust her tablet in front of my face asking for a tip, which I did, and now regret. When I got home I handed the drip coffee to my roommate and she took off the lid and asked me what I got her, and said black coffee, but, alas, it wasn't, had cream. My latte had a funky taste and my roommate said the little she tried, because she drinks coffee black, said it tasted weird too. So I decided to call and inform them, but, with no receipt or order number, didn't think I would get anything accomplish on the call, but, didnt have the opportunity to speak with them because no one answered the phone. Needless to say, I will not be going there again. I usually don't take the time to write reviews like this, but, Sun Prairie needs to know. This place is not woth it. From poor advertising to poor service to aweful coffee. Starbucks is right across the street, and you can Never go wrong with them. read more

I was so excited to have Grace come to Sun Prairie. We need cute coffee houses and Grace is just that. The decor is inviting and relaxing. Unfortunately the food is only average and the coffee is very watery and bitter. The coffee drinks are also never hot but warm at most. The reason I am writing this though is the staff...they are very uninviting. No one says good morning or smiles. I have felt this every time I have been there and wasn't sure if it was just me. Others I know have also said the same thing. The prices are high and I do not mind spending that for high quality food and service. This is not that. Very disappointed. read more

Was in there a couple of weeks ago and noticed gnats flying all around while landing and crawling all over the pastries. I noticed flies doing the same over a couple of visits during the summer but thought I'd give them another shot. I would NEVER eat food from this place (noticed the flies flying around at the Washington St. location as well). Their "baristas" also don't seem to be actual baristas as they don't seem to be able to answer any of my questions. read more

Terrible customer service. Pastries are great, that's the only redeeming factor here. Don't order the hot food. Ordered huevos rancheros and it was terrible. A pile of cold tortillas and eggs covered in marinara sauce. A far cry from the advertised "Corn tortillas, sausage-tomato sauce, pico de gallo, over easy eggs, avocado." There was no avocado, it was just bad guacamole, and no sausage at all. Asked for a refund and the servers were very rude and flat out said no, it was prepared as ordered. I pointed out there was no avocado nor sausage and they still refused a refund. Do not order hot food from their menu. I will say again their pastries are terrific and top notch, but hot food and customer service did terrible. read more

This spot is the worst place ever. I saw that sausage and gravy was on the menu so I tried it out. When I got the food, I tasted the sausage and it was really bland and the gravy was incredibly sour. There was also over easy eggs and those were very dry. When I walked in the building I saw there was a section on the counter with a bunch of different chocolate croissants and pastries, and when I looked at the berry pastry I saw that there was dead fly on it. And the worst part about that is that they weren't just for display, the employees actually sell you them. I also ordered a matcha latte and the matcha was all clumpy, it wasn't even mixed in. There a lot of other cons about this company, but I'm not going to get into then. I give this place a 0/10. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. Disgusting read more

I really wanted to love this place. I've been a Starbucks fan for years, but the lines there have been unbearable. Enter Grace Coffee! I've now been there twice. The same cheerful person has taken my drive through order each time. On my first visit, I pulled up to the window and they said the tablet malfunctioned and that I wouldn't be charged. A couple days later, a random $3.45 charge showed up on my credit card. I would have happily paid for my coffee, but after telling me I wouldn't be charged and then charging an amount later that in no way matched the amount of my order was odd. Today I returned for my second visit and was excited to be the only car in the drive through, hooray! I pulled around to the window and waited a good 4-5 minutes for them to arrive. They questioningly said, "Just the latte for Heidi?" (by this time there were two cars behind me). I had ordered a white mocha and my name is not Heidi, but their tablet/payment system seemed to have no recollection of my name or my order that I had placed 5 minutes ago on the other side of the building. I was a little uncertain accepting the beverage they handed me, as decaf is an important component (nursing mother), but drank it anyway. I was further confused however, that the price was different for the exact same drink order during two separate visits. Pros - The white mochas are delicious. Short lines. The drive through order taker was very cheerful. Cons - Losing my order both times. Inconsistent charges. Having to touch an Ipad (we're in pretty strict quarantine). Their competition has taken to sticking the credit card machine out the window for no contact. If they can better organize their order taking, they might really be onto something here. They're in a good location to lure in those departing Costco or Target. read more

I've frequented many coffee shops in the Midwest, and sampled their food offerings as well, and sadly Grace Coffee has not been my favorite. Their espresso-based drinks are average, but it's the up charge for flavors and plant based milks that left a sour taste in my mouth. As a former barista, I know these premium options cafes must serve now are costs passed to the consumer, but 75¢ for flavoring and $1.00 for plant based milks are nearly double the industry average. Upwards of $6-7 for a vanilla oat milk latte is NYC/LA pricing, not outskirts of Madison metro. I tried the avocado toast and was left wanting more "toast". The bread itself was soggy (as if it had been in the refrigerator) and the avocado was a measly spread mixture served with huge pieces of lettuce on top. I NOW know better to ask if it's a purée or actual slices of avocado, but for $9.50, I would expect the latter. Once again, big city prices for lackluster quality. The service on the three times I've visited has been dismal at best. The only reason I'm giving two stars is because I know there are ways owners can fix these issue, otherwise they'll be wasting a great location and concept. read more
