We were thinking that it would take a lot to switch our kids to some other dentist, until we tried this place. They have been fantastic.

If I could give this dental office zero stars, I would. Subpar cleaning, unnecessary additional x rays that they billed for $127.00 to my insurance (which insurance did not cover), "diagnostic casts" charge of $227.00, and charging me for fluoride treatment which I did not receive. On top of that, Dr. Mei is condescending and rude, and overall not confident in her dental recommendations to patients. Unethical and immoral practice. All I came in for was a simple dental cleaning and I got a bill from my insurance for a balance owed of $354.00. I would never recommend this practice to anyone who wants high quality dental care. read more

My husband and I both saw Dr. Mei. We should have suspected something when I was sold expensive prescription toothpaste and he was expensive prescription mouthwash. Both of us were told we had many cavities that needed to be filled now and made to feel as though our teeth were about to fall out and that our gums were highly diseased. We trusted her experience and the office is so clean with state of the art equipment, so we booked our appointments and got our teeth filled and he got an expensive deep cleaning. I started talking to others who went there and sensed a pattern. We went to a different dentist and took our records, they were shocked I had cavities filled and asked to see my treatment plan. Of course I had none, wait and see was not an option. Just come back next week and get expensive fillings. Also turns out my gums are just fine! Take your money and teeth elsewhere. When I called to have my records sent to the new dentist, they then told me that both my husband and I had credits on our accounts and sent us a check, so watch your billing statements. read more

If you're looking for a pediatric dental office that is thorough and compassionate- look no further. Dr. Grace Kwon is an exceptional clinician and person. I have a young child with special needs who requires a lot of TLC in the medical/dental setting. Dr. Kwon went over and above what a dentist does in order to make our daughter feel comfortable during her cleaning appointment. Their facilities are brand new and gorgeous. Her support staff from the front desk to the dental assistants are all extremely kind and personable. I would give them ten stars if I could. Thank you Grace Dental for truly understanding how to take care of our daughter in the most caring and professional way possible. DO NOT GO TO THIS PRACTICE. They continue to delete my reviews. The dentists here are absolute joke. The negligence by the dentists (i have to generalize bc they never have a dentist or hygienist for very long). I ended up in the hospital and had to be intubated under general anesthesia d/t their inability to address my chief complaint on a follow up visit. Instead they chose to replace a crown that didnt need to be replaced. They think having fancy new toys will make up for their poor bedside manner and basic dentistry. It does not. read more

I've been coming to Grace Dental for years where I've had my wisdom teeth removed, teeth cleaning and Invisalign done. I just recently did teeth whitening as well. I have nothing but nice things to say about Dr Kwon, admin and dental assistants. My experience specifically with Jessica and Dr Kwon was exceptional and I cannot recommend them enough. Jessica was very friendly, professional and accommodating to all my questions. Her demeanor is very warm and welcoming which made me feel comfortable sharing my concerns. She explained to me the procedures and processes very well and thoroughly, and gave me great advice for post procedures. For example avoiding coffee and warning me about discomfort the first few hrs. For someone who was originally scared of dentists, I appreciate everything about this team. My next appointment is later this month and I look forward to seeing them. read more

I think I've had one of the best cleanings in my 36 years of being alive! Customer service from the front desk to the cleaning was phenomenal! Clean. Efficient. Great communication. I hate going to the dentist; after 10 years of seeing a orthodontist and one traumatizing bottom wisdom teeth removal; I loathe and shudder at the idea of anyone poking around in my mouth and working on my teeth. Enter in Grace Dental. The dentists themselves are fabulous. Especially the on sabbatical Dr. N and the owner Dr. Kwon. They're patient and the clinic has a "menu" of amenities to make sitting in the chair more comfy. I've had fillings done and they were done in the least painless way possible with Dr. Kwon stopping and checking in throughout the process. Front of house staff is fabulous and patient and this office is definitely up to speed with the current technology available out there. The staff never seem rushed or pushy or rude! My relationships with dentists haven't been the best in the last decade since I seem to freak out and ghost them. After 2 years it's still working out! 3 stars simply because of the hygienist. He requested me to move my chin in awkward directions (when I asked my wife if she had this experience with her hygienist, she said no), and he got fluoride or some product on my shirt. Post washing, it does not come off the collar - so now I can no longer wear it. Additionally, he does not articulate well, so it is especially hard understand him while he cleans my teeth. I also did not get a to-go package when we finished the cleaning. I will come back because Emily (dentist) is great (spite my fear of dentists), and only if I can request a different hygienist. My wife liked her hygienist - very polite and did not stain her clothes. read more

I have seen quite a few dentists in my life but Dr. Kwon has been the one that gave me anxiety and fear about sitting in the chair. The initial consultation was good and we agreed to start a treatment plan. My first treatment, a few fills, went horribly and I ended up crying throughout the procedure. I also was seen 35 minutes later than my appointment-- I could tell he was rushing for time. He did not numb me correctly and I could feel it all. I expressed this to him and he did numb me more, but it still didn't work. After a break and injecting me for the 3rd time, he then told me "we're almost done, let's push through". Horrible!! It was so painful and a rushed job. He was also rude and dismissive. The same filling cracked only mere months later. I had to go and get it fixed. When I went to get it fixed, he "numbed" me again and didn't even wait for it to kick in. Just went straight into it. I was shaking. He then told me to come back asap for the next treatment. Hell no! He is unethical and it hurts to write this. I have never had such a horrible experience. When I was there, they also advertised a contest/raffle and you got entries with a positive review of the place... makes me wonder where all these positive reviews come from. This is my honest review. I will never return and regret coming here. I have found a dentist who listens to my concerns and takes care of me, and this experience showed me how horrible this whole ordeal was. This is never how it should be!! At least the front desk receptionists are kind. Dr.Kwon needs to slow down, listen to patients, and not rush. He did a half-assed job and also is just straight up unethical. The girl who helped me clean my teeth is not operating/resting the tube correctly I feel and it left a lot of mouth ulcer / tiny scars inside my lower mouth. I feel a bit of pain towards the end. Before and during Covid-19, I've walked out as a happy patient (except for the day they told me I had to get my wisdom teeth out). Everyone at Grace Dental is friendly, nice, and professional. When I went during Covid-19, I was a bit nervous at first because it was my first time going to the dentist during the pandemic. But, I felt comfortable and safe at Grace Dental! Before my appointment, they sent me an email with a clear infographic of the procedure of checking in. You call them when you arrive, and they will let you know when they're ready for you to come in. They take your temperature right at the door then you wait in the mini lobby until a hygienist calls you in. All the staff were wearing a mask and the hygienists/dentists had a mask and shield. Lots of PPE! While I was getting my teeth cleaned, the hygienist took off the face shield, but she still had a pretty thick looking cloth mask, so I wasn't alarmed. Very gentle as well, nothing in my mouth hurt! Also, they have to be able to see clearly without any glares! The whole teeth cleaning appt + some xrays took about 45mins. Overall, if you're looking for a dentist open during the pandemic that is taking lots of precautions, you should give Grace Dental a call! Took a really long time to get scheduled, made me come in 3 separate times just to do a cleaning/filling (an "initial screening" appointment that took hours, a cleaning appointment and a filling appointment) and they kept moving the appointment date around. Each appointment took hours / ran me through multiple machines, many of which were unnecessary. I don't know about prices since I haven't been to other dentists in the area but insurance didn't cover a lot of the stuff they sold me or attempted to sell me (an $800 toothguard etc). They spend a lot of time hyping up how advanced they are but ultimately it was the same experience as any other dentist I've been to (just slower and less efficient). read more

These guys are terrible and fraudulent. I found these guys on Yelp and boy do I regret it. I needed a simple teeth cleaning. One yellow flag was all the random machines they put me through, which I had not seen at other dentists. Mind you I am a healthy young person with no risk factors and no known problems. Then the hygienist took FOREVER to clean my teeth. Two hours later I had to leave before I even saw a dentist because the whole thing was so slow. I provided my dental insurance and didn't think too much about it. Since then I have gotten multiple bills. I suspect the portion insurance didn't cover is that random machines they used? Or honestly I could not get any response as to why, so I just paid the bills but they keep coming, mostly because I think their accounting is so disorganized. I've emailed several times, never gotten a response. Then my husband went and got a crown here. The temporary crown broke almost immediately after it was installed. And we just got a $2000 bill for a single porcelain crown. read more

I first came to Grace Dental a few yers back after my old dentist retired. I found them on Yelp and decided to try them out due to the overwhelming number of positive reviews I saw for Dr. Kwon and his staff. To this day I can say that I am blown away by how amazing everyone is at this practice: kind, gentle, thorough, and very professional with their clients. I am extremely particular about my teeth and overall dental hygiene; I do a lot of research and ask A LOT of questions before getting anything done, so I really needed a dentist that was patient with me and through enough so that I felt comfortable and safe. I also wanted a dentist who was more on the conservative side and only recommended getting work done when you really needed it, rather than just to make a profit. Chriselda, one of the hygienists, is phenomenal and even with all the added precautions with COVID-19 she was so meticulous with my cleanings and took extra time to address any additional problem areas I pointed out. She was so patient with all my questions and so thorough with my cleaning I felt like she truly cared about the health and hygiene of my teeth, just as much as I do. Furthermore, they've totally redesigned the patient experience as a result of COVID-19 to make you feel safe and secure (i.e. waiting in the car instead of the waiting room and only being called in when the doctor is ready for you, wearing a ton of PPE, masks, face shields, gloves, etc, coordinating patient appts to make sure you don't run into any other patients while in the office). I have never been to another dentist that cares about the patient to the level of care Grace Dental offers its patients. Amazing dentists conveniently located off of University Ave in Palo Alto. There are so many things I love about Grace Dental. (1) They send text reminders when my appointment is coming up; (2) they always have open night (6-7pm) appointments available; (3) their staff is SO friendly. I never feel like I'm being rushed out. As soon as I arrive, the assistants and doctor sit down and ask how I'm doing. How my life is. How my work is. Like a 5 minute conversation! I've only been there twice but they remembered I was a grad student and who I was! They are just so nice!!; (4) they really TEACH you instead of chastising you if you're doing something wrong in your dental routine. They're empathetic and have a growth mindset about learning to take the best care for your teeth as possible. Can't recommend Grace Dental enough! read more

I have been a patient at Grace Dental for several years and had previously recommended friends go there. Unfortunately, the dental office has really gone downhill recently. I understand pandemic has made things challenging but that is no excuse for the treatment I received. I am very concerned about the ineptitude of the admin staff. The dentists at Grace Dental are wonderful. Unfortunately, the admin staff are sloppy, disorganized, and unprofessional. They asked me to pay a several hundred dollar bill. I asked to see a print out of the bill and the staff member Cher was very reluctant to give me the bill. She said she had checked it thoroughly. She asked me to pay the balance while I was seated in the patient chair. I thought it was very unusual. Normally I always pay bills at the checkin counter. We went over to the admin counter. The admin staff gave me the bill of a different patient and listed all the treatments that patient had received including the patient's full name, address, and every treatment she received. I am very concerned about the violation and basic disorganization. They asked me to pay the bill of someone else and released a different patient's confidential information. Especially troubling was Cher's assertion that she had checked the bill. I had to repeat myself several times and explain that I wasn't that patient and wanted my bill. The staff member Cher seemed very slow and incompetent. The staff member Cher didn't apologize, didn't explain what she would do to prevent this from happening, and ignored my request that staff get basic HIPAA training on handling patient information privately and confidentially. I would advise potential patients to choose a different dental office. Grace Dental doesn't seem competent in organization, patient files, confidentiality or billing. Also other concerns came out in the appointment. The dentist hadn't seemed to have reviewed my records thoroughly. She didn't know when my last X-rays were. read more

I had Dr. Nimi today for my dental check up, and I have to say, it was definitely the most thorough check up I've had! She was really nice, gentle and explained all the processes thoroughly. This is probably my best dental experience in all my years of going to the dentist. The service here is spectacular. First, there were several reminders via both email and phone, which made it very convenient. Upon arriving, I was quickly checked in, and there was no wait! I came in for a teeth cleaning, but was very pleased with the general dental checkup. I had several scans done of my teeth. Then Dr. Nimi came in, and went through all the scans one by one to explain them to me. They then even measured my gums! I don't think I've ever had that done before. For someone who is a bit paranoid and OCD like I am, I loved that it was so thorough. I felt confident that everything was examined, and that nothing was missed. They then went and cleaned my teeth - which was quite standard, but also felt very thorough. Throughout the whole process, I never felt rushed. Dr. Nimi and team definitely really cares about their patients. I'm definitely coming back and strongly recommend this practice! read more
