I had a very stressful and disappointing experience with Lenox Medical Supply / ScooterPlus Rentals, and I would not recommend this company. This was a disability-related mobility rental while I was far from home and depending on the equipment to safely get around for meetings and obligations. The wheelchair provided did not meet my mobility needs, with issues involving the wheels and leg rests that made it difficult and unsafe for me to rely on. I contacted customer service to resolve the problem and was willing to accept a scooter replacement. However, after speaking with Chris, the trust was gone. His communication felt hostile, dismissive, and disrespectful at a time when I was already stressed and trying not to miss important meetings. The delivery driver was friendly and helpful, but the customer service experience was unacceptable. I also could not get clear answers about corporate, ownership, or escalation. The pickup process added more stress because it took too long for them to retrieve the wheelchair, and I had to deal with the hotel calling me and moving the equipment between my room and the lobby. Because I could not risk being without mobility access, I had to rent from another company that was respectful, professional, and provided reliable equipment. I paid additional money because of this situation. I requested a refund and was told I could not get one, so I am now having to go through other complaint channels. For a company providing medical and mobility equipment, compassion, communication, reliability, and professionalism should be the standard. I eventually had to get an advocate involved after they lied to my bank. While I was finally given a refund it took weeks and involved multiple parties who couldn't believe the level of fraud and hostility from this business. read more

DO NOT RENT FROM HERE!!! I reserved and paid online Wednesday for Saturday delivery. You select the time and date of delivery. On the morning it was supposed to be delivered (at 9:30am), I received a phone call that their computer mistakenly allows people to book times that others have set. The company had 3 days to notify me of the possible delay and other pending deliveries, I heard nothing from them until deliver time. He promised me delivery by 1:00pm and apologized. It never arrived by 1pm as stated. We had plans and tickets reserved for the zoo and we had to miss going. I finally received my scooter around 4:30pm. The scooter that was delivered to me was dirty, seat torn in several places, speed control knob missing, and the battery meter did not work. (See attached photos) So, basically, I could not change the speed I was going unless I used something to grab the metal piece inside. I also never knew how much time I had left on the battery since the display didn't work. This is unacceptable to rent such worn and broken equipment to paying customers. On the day the scooter was supposed to be picked up, Saturday at 2pm, no one called or showed up. I contacted the company at 2:30pm and was told that they had my pickup for Sunday. We had an early morning flight Sunday and they told us to just leave it in our driveway and they would come and pick it up Sunday morning. This company needs better reservation software, scheduling help, and new equipment. (Based on their other poor reviews, I'm sure they will try to make an excuse for their poor service and equipment. Trust me, there were 6 witnesses that heard the conversations that occurred and saw the broken down scooter that I had delivered! My daughter Calaura Christian, put in for a wheelchair rental on June 6th , she had an appointment on today the 8th of June 2023 with her Doctor and was told you she sure not being flying at this time due to the blood clogs in her legs for she is a paraplegia, so she calls to cancel the chair and was told she would not get her money back just a credit because you have to call 48 hrs. prior. Since it was the 6th she put in the request today is the 48 hours period from day order placed. The gentleman keep saying it has to be 48 hrs. prior, well it was just 48 hrs. ago she ordered the chair, so why are they not giving her a refund. She ordered on the 6th went to the Dr. on the 8th , now that's 48hrs. why no a refund, instead of just a credit that has to be used in 180 days. I normally take Yelp reviews with a grain of salt - knowing businesses occasionally screw up on folks. However, this company has an extremely bad trend of approving breast pumps and then denying them - and it just happened to us, too. We verified from them that their pumps are covered by our insurance, so we ordered one. That point is extremely important. They subsequently ignored our repeated calls and emails over several months (to confirm the order and find out where the pump is), and someone FINALLY picked up yesterday. On the phone, the representative stated that they would only send the breast pump "after the baby is born and not before" - which is not clearly visible anywhere on their website - and that they would know that the baby is born because we would call them (the logic here is stunning - especially given all of the unacknowledged calls and emails we had already tried). He also stated that they hadn't returned our calls or emails because, "they would only contact us if something was wrong - but everything with the order is fine." Again - information not on their website, nor is that some kind of industry standard. THE VERY NEXT DAY (today) they emailed to say that we are "out of network" and won't be supplying us with a pump. It's pretty infuriating, as new parents have a laundry list of tasks and life-saving items to secure, insurance to deal with, etc... and to have a medical supply company give us the run-around for 3 months and then cancel right before our due date is an unbelievably piss-poor business model. They really don't seem to care about this side of their business, and seeing how many other people have been screwed over by these guys, I would HIGHLY advise avoiding this company altogether. read more

Their website was misleading and showed that I qualified for a breast pump when I did not. When I emailed them to point out how misleading it was, instead of agreeing and saying they'd look into it (which was really what I wanted, since it was a confusing process), they were incredibly rude. I posted a review about my experience on Yelp, and they emailed threatening legal action if I wouldn't take the review down. I've had much more positive experiences with other breast pump suppliers, even the ones where I wasn't ultimately covered. My experience with Lenox was really stressful and unfortunate. Run is right! I had a horrible accident so I needed a wheelchair while on vacation. I was overcharged. When I called to inquire about the overcharge the manager was so rude. I said "I think I was over charged." And he said "I doubt it." He told me he would call me back with a breakdown of charges and never did. He claims it was a late fee. They were supposed to call me to schedule a pick up and never did. PLUS the wheelchair was so rickety. Use anyone else but them. I needed to rent a wheelchair- was thrilled to have found them. Until they started lying and lying and lying. I was told that 9:30 am is their first scheduled delivery time. I was scheduled for 9:30. No delivery at 9:30, no delivery at 10 am. I call, Im told driver was held up at first delivery - really because you had told me I was first delivery. But he's on his way to my house. No delivery at 10:30, I call again, well I'm told it's rush hour - really, 1st rush hour is over by 10:30, 2nd you do this for a living, you should account for rush hour traffic when you schedule deliveries. Not difficult- I have to do it every day to get to work. The wheelchair didn't arrive until around noon - I can't access my front door so someone had to stay with me the whole time waiting for the delivery that they couldn't reasonably estimate within a thirty minute window even when driver was enroute - shocking incompetence and rudeness from these people. But The wheelchair I received didn't have the leg support I needed. So I went through another three days of this scheduling nightmare. Everyday, I was told I'd receive a call letting me know when they could deliver. Three days - unbelievable incompetence. I called everyday, was told they are working on it and would call me. Have never received a call from them and three days later don't have leg support. I don't know how places like this stay in business. How they sleep at night is a mystery to me - zero ethics or morals. You will REGRET doing business with them. read more

Go with ANYBODY else! I had major surgery on my foot prior to my sightseeing trip to DC, so I had rented wheelchairs in 4 other cities prior to this experience. I would give them 0 stars, but I can't. They were supposed to deliver at 3:00, but I had to wait until 5:30 for delivery, then the guy dropped the chair and the paperwork as fast as he could and left. It wasn't until the next day that we had the MAJOR problems! We soon discovered that the rubber wheels were so worn down that the chair would periodically ride on the rims, so was very difficult to push and almost impossible to wheel myself. Because of this wear, the footrests (at the highest setting possible) would often drag over sidewalk ramps at intersections, and often would just fall off entirely. The footrests would not stay in an upright position so I could not easily get out of the chair. Got onto a city bus only to realize that the brakes didn't work very well, and the driver did not secure the chair, so I spent the trip hanging on for dear life! I called to complain and the dispatcher turned me over to the driver who went off on me for my language for calling the chair "crap". Berated me for that for about 3 minutes and then told me that out of the goodness of his heart he would replace the chair. Said he was in Baltimore and would call me when he got to DC. Two (!) hours later he called to ask where we were and wanted us to wait for him (remember the delivery?). I told him where we would be at a certain time (we're sightseeing) and that he could meet us there. While at our destination I watched him drive right by us (not even bothering to slow down). I called and he told me he had to go to the warehouse to get me a different chair. Fine, told him where we would be in an hour. After an hour, I called and he told me he had to do another delivery first (!). He ended up being half an hour late and would not even listen when we tried to explain what was wrong with the chair. I had issues with the online reservation of a mobility scooter, the system would not accept a date change. Every time I changed the date, it just defaulted back. I proceeded to the 'next' step as the system showed at the top of the page that a 'review' page was ahead, leading me to believe I'd be able to review it before it was processed! Very misleading, as immediately after I put in my credit card details and hit 'next' button, the reservation was immediately accepted & processed without allowing me to review! I then immediately emailed the company to explain and the change was made over the phone. The full amount was charged to my credit card, this company didn't even attempt to process the credit for the change agreed upon (any changes had to be done within 48hrs - mine was done within minutes of making the reservation)!! I arrived days later in Washington, the scooter was delivered 1.5hrs late - excuse given was that the company was far away from our hotel! Not so, when googled it was literally a 10 min drive away! When the scooter finally arrived, no apology was given whatsoever! I ended up 2 hours late at the Conference I was attending! If I could give these people a zero I would...BEWARE, and do not rent from them!!! I rented a scooter and rollator for my 82-year-old mother for a cruise out of Baltimore. When we went to our cabin at 2:30 in the afternoon, there was no scooter. When I called the after hours number (it was a Sunday), I was told that it was there, and to "find it." That's hard to do on a ship that carries close to 3,000 people. The person said they would check with their driver, and call me back. I had to call them back (they never called), and was told once again that the driver would call me. The driver called 1/2 hour before the ship pushed away from the dock, and told me that he had left the scooter, but had gotten the rollator order wrong, and had brought a knee scooter instead, which he was going to take back to the company. NO ONE could find the scooter until ship's security overheard me, and determined that one was sitting on the dock because it had the wrong name on it (even though our invoice showed the correct name). Security got the scooter on board 20 minutes before we pushed back. We were subsequently charged for the rollator, which I understand has been refunded, and will be on our next statement. The scooter was not in top condition - it never held a full charge, there was no booklet (instructions), which they said they never provide, the steering column would never tighten, and the charger was thrown on the seat. Suffice to say that the scooter had seen better days. We were additionally told that they delivered to the port many times, and to take the equipment to lost and found, and they would know what to do with it...they didn't, but agreed to put it in a locked area. When I called Lenox after the cruise, I was initially treated very rudely as the customer service rep attempted to blame everything on anyone but themselves. I still absolutely swear that he was the individual that also answered the after hours phone on the day of embarkation, but he says it was not him. He stated that the charge for the nonexistent rollator was reversed, and after considerable discussion, agreed to a 40% discounted charge on the scooter, and finally offered an apology. While I certainly appreciate the discount, the entire hassle of the day was not worth it. We've rented scooters many times at many ports, and never experienced the poor customer service that we received with this company. read more

Scooter was delivered in time to the Hotel Bell Captain. Scooter was in excellent condition and performed perfectly all 5 days. I left the unit with the Bell Captain when i departed the hotel. Cannot really ask for more. + they where the least expensive. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. The people are very nice on the phone but I rented a scooter for three days at Thanksgiving, I still have it in mid-December. They have made several (7-8) appoints with me to pick it up and have yet to show up. No call, no show. I am being used as a damn storage facility. UPDATE: Although my previous post is accurate, I am a believer in second chances. I received a very apologetic email from the company explaining what the issue was. I was apprehensive initially after reading the reviews here, but because my office WorkLife Program coordinator recommended this vendor, I decided to take a chance. The drop-off time was a little later than scheduled, but the driver AND coordinator called to let me know the delivery would be delayed. The mobile scooter performed perfectly and my Dad, who had never used an mobile scooter before, was able to maneuver it after a few minutes of practice in the driveway. We had a fully charged battery when we headed out for downtown, DC around noon -- returned home around 7pm and the battery power indicator had hardly moved! My 81 year old Dad was able to enjoy the scooter and his visit to the Smithsonian Museum and the MGM at the National Harbor ... BOTH with energy to spare! read more

The initial delivery of my wheelchair rental was 4 hours late. They were supposed to pick it up 2 days later. Almost every day for a week they promised to come pick it up. They never showed. I wanted to rent a knee scooter for my wife who had a conference at the Gaylord Hotel in National Harbor MD for a week. She has a medical condition that is tough for her to walk, so we decided to rent a knee scooter here instead of bringing one on the plane; be a hassle. I called the Gaylord and they recommended this Lenox Medical Supply out of DC. So I called on the 10-7, talked to the rep, who was very helpful, etc. I asked for a knee scooter with a basket and long pad for my wives foot to rest on. He assured me that would be the case. No problem, when we go to the hotel, they delivered it for free, that is what it says on the website, it came with no basket, two small squares for pads, it was in very rough used shape and do not know if they sanitized it, it was just out in the open. Anyway, I called them on Sunday 10-10-21 after hours, and have already paid for it, $81, the rep said we don't have anything like that, which we were told differently at the beginning, I informed them, that my wife would not be able to use it. The rep became very unprofessional and rude, said you have what you paid for, which I felt after paying $81 I would think they would be better, I guess not. I said, ok, then can we get a refund, the rep said "NO", after the transaction, you have to take what you paid for. I told him this is unacceptable service and I did not pay for something I can not use. The rep then said we are not taking your $81, you paid that to us, and we will not refund it. I just told them I hope they can live with themselves each day for treating customers like that. We did not take the knee scooter they came and got it and we took the loss. I would not recommend this company to anyone and will let the Gaylord Hotel know that as well. I do believe there are good in this company, but that is still a wait to see. By the way, I still have not received a receipt for the unused knee scooter, but they did come and get it. Next time, read the reviews and take the plane away, bring your own knee scooter. read more

I rented a wheelchair to utilize for my Mother's 10 day visit. The day of delivery I had to call Lenox Medical Supply because they did not arrive as scheduled. Fast forward to the day of pick up, per the agreement they were to pick it up at noon. They did not show up nor did they call! When I called to inquire, I was told they called me, not true. Then I was told the driver would be here by 5, no show! I called back and Chris I. answered, he was rude and unprofessional! He told me to leave the wheelchair outside, I advised I was not comfortable doing that because I did not want to be responsible if it came up missing. He continued to be disrespectful. I finally agreed to leave it outside if he provided something in writing. He refused to do so! He then said, "we'll come tomorrow to which I said no because I would be out of town." Thus why I scheduled to have it picked up on the contracted date. Again, more disrespectful dialogue. He then said he would be here at 6 to retrieve it, to no avail. Tonna accepted an order for durable medical supplies but sent the cheap supplies because "that's all DC Medicaid pays for"...when that is NOT true. He said I should "take what they give you...when you have Medicaid." He explained they don't pay for the quality you are asking for, when I received the same product last month from another supplier! This company is so busy trying to charge DC Medicaid MORE for supplies instead of supplying quality. I was so unsettled with how I was treated by them after the wheel chair I rented was picked up I replaced my credit card with a new one. I have just received the worst customer service in my entire lifetime. I had to ask Chris questions and he NEVER gave me a direct answer. My scooter broke; it took over 3 weeks for them to get the part. It was finally delivered and installed. The first time I took it out for long than a block the scooter did not work. I called Chris back, and he refused to tell me who is in charge of the place. He told me there are two people Chris and Tony. I asked for the owner or supervisor; he said he couldn't give me any name other than him and Tony. I then asked for another person name and he said "there are too many other people who work here I can't give you a name !!!!... At 36 weeks pregnant, the last thing I wanted was the additional stress of figuring how to get my breast pump via insurance. However, Lenox medical supply took the hassle out for me! The transaction was stress-free, quick and easy. I simply provided them with my insurance information and doctor. I submitted a breast pump inquiry to this company in late October/early November. Instead of reaching back out to me for a confirmation, I got an email from them over 5 weeks later saying my insurance approved the pump and that the company had sent the breast pump; I had already been using a breast pump from a different company for over a month at that point. When the pump arrived, I reached out to find a way to send it back and the person who responded was very rude and was not forthcoming about how to return the pump. Only after my husband and I threatened legal action did the man provide an address to drop the pump off in Washington, D.C. This is NOT a proper business and they are trying to take advantage of people. I am also submitting a complaint to the FTC given their improper business practices and knowing that this business most often works with older Americans. It's not right. They came to pick up the equipment a day early. I got the run-around when I called numerous times to request a refund because the equipment I received was a cheaper rate. OK....in addition to this review, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and within 5 minutes.....no exaggeration!.....I got a call from the company. Now, 3 days later, my credit card has been credited with the refund that I should have gotten 5 weeks ago. I went to Lenox Medical to get Medical Equipment for my Aunt who is having trouble moving around due to a disability. When I called them they were very polite and helpful. I made an appointment and went by the office to get some of the equipment and we arranged for delivery for the rest. I am actually surprised by these reviews because I had a great experience and they are located in Downtown DC so that was very convenient for me. Their customer service was good and they were very professional. When they made the delivery for my Aunt's Scooter it was in good condition and it worked well for her. Wonderful service!! Was in town with my grandpa and we needed a wheelchair for him. Lenox Medical supply were the only people that answered the phone,had a great customer service and delivered the wheelchair right on time. They are the best people to call if u need any medical supply in the DMV area. read more

I read the two reviews posted, and had an entirely different experience. Twice I have used Lenox Medical for a scooter rental while I was in NYC. Both times the scooters were delivered as promised, and had no issues with the scooter. The only glitch was the second time there was a mix up in a name. The delivery receipt did state my name, but had a different name in the profile. Mistakes happen. I called Lenox and the situation was resolved within 15 minutes. With both rentals, I spoke with Tonna at the DC office. He was professional, courteous, and always willing to answer all my questions - and I ask a lot! I cannot change what the other two customers experienced, but everything was great for me, and I will continue to utilize Lenox to rent a scooter. read more

My great grandmother who lives in North Dakota came to visit me about three weeks ago. When she arrived I really wasn't as prepared for her visit. So after searching around I found Lenox medical supply. I called the office and spoke with someone (I'm not sure of his name I think his name was Henry) but I explained to him that my great grandmother was visiting and I needed to purchase quite a few items for her. The gentleman was very knowledgeable and was able to go through a lot of products with me. After a very long conversation I decided on getting her a walker, commode and rental wheelchair (I really didn't want the wheelchair but he insisted). I was surprised at the price for all three, they were much more affordable than I originally thought I placed my order and requested to have the items delivered the same day. Which was surprising because I live in Arlington. So I got the items delivered to me within about a four hour time span. I'm not sure of how a walker and commode should look but they did the job lol. I had the wheelchair rental for three days, at first I thought that was too long , but I wished I had reserved it for a longer time. It was so much easier to have the wheelchair versus the walker for going downtown. We were able to go downtown and visit the national world war II memorial, which my great grandmother has wanted to do for quite sometime but was concerned since she can't walk or stand for extended periods. It was a breeze going from monument to monument with having the wheelchair. All in all, I am truly thankful for Lenox Medical Supply. They have amazing service and I couldn't believe how fast the service. My great grandmother plans to come back during the holidays with my Aunt Doreen, so we will definitely use their services again! read more
