I miss pre covid Indian buffets in the Vancouver area. Every few weeks, I'd be on an Indian food kick, had to pop in as I like to be reasonable and try out their Thalis. Overall, very satisfying in quality of the proteins and spices. The staff was super nice and their chai is very flavourful and not too rich. Drink list is competitive. I love the vegetable samosas and the malai chicken with coconut! The curry is especially really yummy and my co-workers and I order it every other week (at minimum)! I have always gotten take out so I don't know how their service is, however I have no complaints with the take out food. The ambience is simple and spacious. read more

Good service. Barely average food and small portions this time. Very disappointing Fish Masala as they cut the already small portion of fish into tiny pieces. It was almost a fish mash! Also the fish was a bit overcooked which made it lose its delicious flakiness it should have. The Lamb Rogan Josh was not tender. It was mostly borderline very tough. The Aloo Gobi was ok but not delicious as it should be. Tons of oil, barely any flavour. Asked for everything very spicy and it was but they didn't have the skill level to increase the heat while retaining the flavour and not have it overpower the dishes. I don't think they use fresh chilis, just lots of oil. The naan was just ok as well. I recall their naan at least being very soft and fluffy but this was flat and a bit stale tasting. I've walked by Grace of India more times than I can count and have always been intrigued by their specials they advertise. This place previously was a random sushi spot. We dropped in on a Tuesday evening (around 6:00pm) and were the first patrons. The inside is spacious with 7 booths and another two tables. Our server was attentive and came by several times to refill our waters. You can choose your level of spice (mild, medium or hot); we went with medium but it barely registered on my taste buds. They have several specials; Monday dine in special ($8.99 for any curry with rice and naan), take out or dine in (10% off on orders over $20.00) and a daily special ($34.95). The regular menu is split into combos, appetizers, vegetarian, Karahi specialities, meats (chicken, tandoori, lamb and seafood), bread, rice (biryani), tid bits and desserts. - Daily special ($34.95) - vegetable pakora, vegetable curry, non-vegetable curry, two naan, rice and two drinks. You can choose any dish for the curries (except from the Karahi and biryani options). Drinks can be anything non-alcoholic. - 2x Mango lassi - been awhile since I've had a mango lassi. Decent but I've had better. - Vegetable pakora - 6 pieces of pakora. Fairly standard fare. - Plain naan - these were solid and fluffy. - Aloo gobhi - cauliflower and potatoes cooked with ground onion, tomatoes, ginger and garlic. This was surprisingly bland. Potatoes were dry. - Saag lamb - lamb cooked with spinach and Indian spices. This was my favourite out of everything we ordered although again, the saag was muted in flavour. Lamb was okay but could have been tenderer. - Karahi chicken ($13.99) - chicken cooked with tomatoes, assorted peppers, onion, ginger, garlic, fresh masala and coriander. This was the SMALLEST dish. Yowza. Wouldn't get this again. - Fish pakora ($10.99) - cod fritters with a side of mint sauce. Sauce was tasty and needed to balance out the slightly salty pakoras. Fail! We ordered delivery tonight, really looking forward to some good Indian food but was truly disappointed. We ordered chicken tikka, naan, and prawn masala. Only the naan came as expected but the other 2 dishes, were terrible. The chicken tikka came with only 4 pieces of bite sized pieces. This, for $14.99!?? It came wrapped in tin foil to keep it warm and my thoughts initially was they gave us the wrong dish as it looked like one skewer. My heart fell whe n I opened it to see what little chicken was given. The prawn masala. Where. Is. The prawn? It was all sauce!! Perhaps at best ONE piece of prawn in the entire container.. which btw, very little portion. My bf and I had to share the one piece of meat. This was also $14.99!! My wife and I went back for the second time this week! We ordered almost the same as our first meal but with some slight modifications. She got the Malai Kofta (8/10) with her Grace Vegetarian Combo platter this time, which was very tasty, and I got the Malai Chicken with Coconut (11/10) which is simply incredible! This is probably the single best East Indian dish I've had in Vancouver in over 30 years and it will replace Butter Chicken as my new favourite signature dish. We also got an order of Garlic Naan (9/10) which was delicious as well. We also tried the Gulab Jamun (9/10) for dessert which is more my wife's favourite than mine but it was delicious and probably the best I've ever tasted as well. The waitress recommended eating it at the same time with the Kheer rice pudding (which came with my wife's combo platter) and it was a great combination together. read more

Been meaning to try this place for a while, so we ordered take-out for dinner on a Friday -- food was ready within 20 minutes. Lots of vegetarian options on the menu, many of which are default vegan or can be made vegan. We ordered the bhindi, vegetable jalfrezi, aloo gobi, and some roti. Everything was very well-spiced and flavoured, with generous portions, and priced well. Lots of veggies in each too, which was nice given how some Indian places end up being very saucy with little substance. Compared to some other places in town (e.g., Sula), the flavours aren't particularly rich, but they dishes were all designed well. Solid place -- we definitely enjoyed our meal. read more

Finally tried this place out, as it's steps away from my front door. Alls I can say for now is that the flavours exceed that of Dosa Factory and House of Dosa. Way less salt and you don't feel like a sack of garbage afterwards. Glad to have this new addition to the Cedar Cottage area, and a relief from the pervy Dosa Factory staff. We got takeout from their website and found it to be pretty good! Butter chicken and garlic naan were very tasty and satisfied our crave for Indian food. We were a little disappointed for the vegetable pakoras which didn't have the crispiness to them - but perhaps it was because it was a takeout order. The chicken korma was okay but not spectacular. I would order the butter chicken and naan again, and probably try the other items on their menu. Ordered takeout through Doordash, needless to say it was not a very pleasant experience. The food quality was subpar with the Dal Makhani being more like a dark, spicy & oily mess rather than the rich & flavourful curry its supposed to be. The garlic naan had no garlic, just a sprinkling of some greenish spice (oregano???!!). My Indian heart is on fire- in a literal sense - because of all the heartburn this curry has caused me. We arrived her right after landing in Vancouver at the airport, with a group of 13 of us. The service was quick which was appreciated. The food tasted good but the portion sizes were really small. The butter chicken was disappointing due to the size of the cubes of chicken. The dish had very few cubes of chicken which were really small. We ordered three more times as the food came out once we realized the portions were small. The food came out quickly. We had the butter chicken, tandoori chicken, chicken biryani and veggie biryani, and two different types of naan. The flavour was fine all around and it was fine given we were all hungry after a five hour flight. If the butter chicken can be improved, this would help the restaurant a lot. read more

I can't comment on service as we ordered for take out however the staff were very polite and friendly when I came in to pick up my food. We ordered around 530pm and the food was ready within 21 minutes. We ordered the chicken vindaloo, Rogan Josh, some stuffed naan and of course, garlic naan. This is not too far away from my home and I was craving Indian Food. I wanted to come in with some friends and get something that was healthy and comforting due to the bad weather. I had a lentil and chana soup (not together but separate). I had a side of roti just to even things out and fill it up a bit more. Both soups were nicely spiced and served in a timely manner. Great new local neighbourhood ethnic restaurant - about time vs just more Pho places. Did take out from here for the first time last week with the family. Fish pakoras were really fresh and nice - the very large pieces of cod were really tasty. The butter chicken and lamb masala curries were tasty if not a little bit on the salty side. But the portions were generous. Steam rice was also a little oily (understand that you want really separated basmati grains). Naans were perfect. Haven't done dine in here yet so can't comment but the place was empty when I was there at 5:45p on a weekday. Will be going back for dine-in soon. I ordered delivery (via Just Eat) from here last night, on a semi-drunken, post-Superbowl whim. It is, hands down, the best Indian delivery I have had in a long time. I ordered the veggie korma, butter paneer, and aloo gobi, along with rice/naan/samosas. It arrived so quickly, hot and fresh. Everything was delicious. This restaurant may not be located in the most glamorous place but it is truly a HIDDEN GEM of Vancouver's Indian restaurant scene. Incredible food, delightful staff, fresh ingredients, and an attention to quality that really shines through in their dishes. Very pleasant little place to sit in, and speedy take-out as well.
