We live in Reno and have family in the Bay Area. We always love going to Wise Girls when we can. Food is great. Service is excellent. There always seems to be some kind of upbeat musical entertainment going on when go there. Last week we had a college graduation party for our youngest daughter. We opted to have Wise Girls cater for us. The food was ready on time. It was delicious and the guests loved it. We will definitely be going to Wise Girls again and use them again for our catering in their area. Thank you again Wise Girls for such a great job and taking a huge amount of stress off of us. Had to try this neighborhood gem. It looks like they are expanding their indoor dining space and they have a large bar as well as outdoor patio dining. Lots of locals from the neighborhood. I tried their chicken Parmesan- large and tender breaded cutlet served with spaghetti. The focaccia and garlicky, basil dipping sauce makes a nice appetizer. What a wonderful experience and a surprisingly delicious dinner. Was on the hunt for pasta for dinner and was tired of going to the same spots. I looked around and found this spot tucked away in Pleasant Hill. Decided to take a chance and I'm glad I did. First I went with my mom who's on the wiser side and they had a private party on the side with all the low top tables. Without us asking they grabbed us a table and set it up for us so she could sit. AMAZING. THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS!!! I got the Cajun Alfredo creamy and flavorful and not spicy. The clam chowder soup was delicious too. We decided to come here based on a recommendation. It is located in a small plaza with horrible parking, but we were able to find parking outside. Since our reservation was in 30 minutes, we decided to hang out at the bar. There were a lot of people there, so the service was very slow. By the time we all got our drinks, it was time to sit down at our table. We did not know that the tables would be a shared space, so we were surprised, but that's OK. We are easy to get along with. Our table mates were super nice. The band played music that we did not know, so we went on the wrong night. Either way we had fun. The crowd was 60 years and up, I believe, so it was music from the 70s and below. The service at the dining area was much faster than the bar. Our waitress was really nice. We ordered way more food than we needed, so I don't remember everything. The food was actually delicious. Well I skipped takeout and finally ate inside the restaurant on a Thursday night. I also promised an update once that happened so here it is: PROS: - Service was amazing (our server was kind and accommodating in correcting a mistake I made while ordering, bless her heart!) - The atmosphere of the restaurant is slightly darker, with a lively, mature crowd, and a beautiful bar that spans the entire restaurant front to back on the side we were on (without the band), so plenty of seating (and it looks like there was still room for more tables if they needed it) - The layout of the establishment is H-shaped, with some tvs on the bar side and live entertainment on the other.You could still hear the band from the other side of the room but it was not at all loud, a good option for those with a noise level preference - The 2-man band was singing cover songs from over the decades and did a great job - I ordered the GF Frutti Di Mare in Alfredo sauce and once again my meal was delicious... the GF pasta was (again) cooked to perfection! - The meal portion size was generous, as were the seafood pieces in the dish (not stingy at all!!!) We're always searching for new places and WiseGirl has always been a spot we've wanted to try. We were surprised by the nicely detailed interior; looked more like a lounge than a restaurant. We were quickly seated and greeted by our friendly and efficient server. Started with the fried ravioli app and wings. The wings were especially moist with a crisp exterior. We chose the salmon piccata, prime rib, Cajun chicken pasta, and the reuben. Food came out quickly and the portions were good-sized. The standout prime rib looked and tasted great. Even the side of veggies was flavorful with butter and garlic. Good service, drinks were kept full. We'll be back. read more

I haven't reviewed a restaurant in years, but my experience here was so poor that I had to. I was at the bar last night having dinner with a friend. Another patron asked the bartender (Dave) to change the football game on the TV. Dave said OK, but seemed to forget. I get it - he's busy. I then asked the other female bartender to put the game on, and she responded by insulting me - yelling to Dave across the bar, "Mr. Needy here wants the game changed." I asked my companion whether I had done anything to deserve such a response. No. She was as shocked as I was. A moment later, I informed the female bartender calmly that I'd never before been insulted by a bartender, and she doubled down, "Really? Never?" No apology. This wasn't the only example of poor customer service that night. Prior to my being labeled "needy", the woman sitting next to me asked me for my menu because she wasn't able to get one from a bartender. Another woman asked me to look at my drink menu and order drinks for her and her friend because she couldn't get the attention of a bartender. I declined, but to help the elderly ladies, I signaled to the female bartender that the two women wanted to order. The bartenders all acted surly and unapproachable the entire time I was there. Maybe they are underpaid, maybe they haven't been properly trained, maybe ownership treats them poorly - I don't know - but none of it has anything to do with me. I was prepared to drink more and listen to the band perform that night but instead settled my tab and left without leaving a tip. If you are willing to be ignored at best or insulted at worst, this is the bar/restaurant for you. read more

We have been here several times and it has been good every time. I Had their burger most recently and it was cooked perfect! There were 8 of us to celebrate my mom's 91st birthday and for the most part, everyone enjoyed their meal. One of my cousins ordered the New York steak and it was on the tough side. Cocktails were good. Service was just ok, could have been a bit more attentive. The music starts way too early and is way too loud! I was looking for a place for valentine's day that has live music and would be family friendly, and i found WiseGirl. They accept reservations which was great. I was told we will be in the music hall. Feb 14 and the area was starting to get packed. we were directed to the music hall where the live band was setting up. There were maybe 7 big tables and we were seated with a different party on the same table. Food- I ordered prime rib and I had it medium. my wife ordered their special-lobster ravioli. Food was served within 10minutes. it was a little dark in the room but mine looked like was well done. I confirmed with when i started slicing a piece and felt how tough and dry it was. I ended up not eating half of it. Even my server agreed that it looked like it was cooked well done. My wife said her ravioli was good. Serving size is pretty good. The value for money in terms of the food is great. We decided to try Wise Girl for my birthday dinner since we have not been before. We came on a Friday around 5 and there was no parking. We got a table in the bar so I have no idea what the dining room even looks like. We started off with a couple of mocktails and these were unimpressive. My friend's mojito was watered down and my italian cream soda tasted like a soda with less carbonation and no cream to it. We ordered the shrimp casino with added pasta, seafood pasta, cheesy garlic bread, and gnocchi. The garlic bread was delicious. The gnocchi and seafood pasta were also good. However, the shrimp casino was bland and had no taste at all. Not even butter, it was pretty dry with noodles. I was hoping for some garlic, salt, anything but no. It was a big let down for us. We had such a great experience here! I ordered the prime rib sandwich, and it was absolutely delicious, tender, flavorful, and so satisfying. My husband got a burger and loved every bite. We also shared the cheesy garlic bread appetizer, which was honestly one of the best we've had, crispy, buttery, and packed with flavor. It was VERY garlicky, but we love that! Our server came quickly and took our drink orders. We waited 20 minutes for water and drinks. When our drinks came back we ordered a Caprese Salad. The drinks were good which was nice. The salad came out and it was 90% tomatoes 5% onions and 5% cheese. It was pretty lame. We asked for it to be sent back. The server pointed at the few chunks of cheese and said there it is. They brought it back out with a few more chunks of cheese even though we didn't ask for that. We weren't asked if we wanted anything else until the manager came out with our entrees. Went a week ago to go see Jr De Ville Band play and have some dinner before. Make sure to make reservations prior to coming. That was our mistake. But we got lucky and the wonderful hostess made it happen for us. It's a popular place with the regulars and I can see why. The food was fanatic. Both my husband and I had the corned beef specials. I had the dinner and he had the sandwich. We both loved what we ordered. Usually the corned beef is super salty and I feel it later. But not this one! It was cooked perfectly. The group of people "the regulars" were fun and made it a great place to dance or just a great place to listen to music. Everyone was nice! I really, really wanted to like Wise Girl. Here's why I don't: They failed at creating an atmosphere happy people want to patronize. The interior design was poorly managed, with dark, dreary colors that pile into the fact the venue has very little sun exposure. In fact, when there's one chance to let a little bit of sun in for their patrons near the front sheeting area adjacent the bar, they chose to mask the sun out, effectively well. When you're done with a long day of work you want to spend your time relaxing with friends and enjoying an upbeat environment. Well, their "beats," (music) are ultimately depressing. I appreciate the genre and decade focus, but let's please pep it up a bit. Why depress your customers? Lift them up. I've never been greeted by a host. Or smiled at by an employee. Ownership all the way down to personnel should study Wence's and learn how true customer service and experience is delivered. If you're wondering why they're winning, well, that's why. Seems like a local spot. I stumbled upon this place on Yelp and decided to go here on a random Saturday night. Luckily my boyfriend and I were able to get a high top table by the bar. The atmosphere was very dark/dimly lit so it made reading the menu a little tough for me. The service of the food was very fast. Appetizers, salad and main course seem to come out at the same time. The artichoke was a little tough for my liking. The salad. I wished they poured the dressings on it or gave me a spoon so I could drizzle the contents. The main dish were standard. We came here for an early dinner on a Saturday afternoon. This is our third time here because we like the drinks and it's conveniently within walking distance from our place. The three of us were sat at a table by the bar. I really liked my margaritas and we also got the lemon drop and a Sierra. The portions are very generous, plenty of very good food. Also, the calamari was very good. I'm usually opposed to it due to the rubbery texture but it was not chewy at all and I enjoyed it. It's very spacious inside with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. They also feature live music which they advertise on their social media pages. The service was attentive and thoughtful.
