I did want you to dock it a star due to an incredibly awful staff member who is second in charge, but that would be doing an injustice to the incredible and gracious Arthur, the terrific staff and wonderful chef Wendy. Trust me when I say this; Stephanie will try her hardest to move mountains for you. Jess, Inez, Jenny (*2), Lisa, Shanila, Vivienne and Mary Lou... just the best. Without naming the second in charge, she will do anything to keep you there longer ($$), rolls her eyes at clients, and has no sympathy. I would go back to Ohana in a a heartbeat for any issues but I would make sure Ja... ummm that person isn't there. Her meditation practice is god awful. I have had nm

***BEWARE OF DR K*** I came to Ohana to get my life back…read more They taught me the entire summer how to make the next right decision and life would get better. Yet while having acupuncture with Dr K she was not paying attention (on her phone) and I ended up with a second degree burn on my abdomen forever. The center nor Dr K feels liable. I have asked each of them to make the next right choice twice and neither has contacted me regarding this matter. In other words they are not practicing what they preach. I had just came from a major psychotic break with one of their clinicians and went directly to acupuncture. I was shaking and cold from the experience so Dr. K put a heat lamp very close to my abdomen to warm me up. I have had a tummy tuck therefore the nerves in this area were dead which is how I did not feel my skin being burned for an entire hour. Dr K did not notice either because she was in and out of the room, and while in the room on her phone. I went to the ER and found I had a 2nd degree burn. Neither party offered to pay for my medical services forcing me to use my medical insurance. Since my insurance was in state only within Michigan I had to fly all the way back there and see my primary doctor and a wound specialist. Neither party offered to help with those expenses either. The burn was so bad it took from the end of June until the end of October for me to even be able to stop wearing bandages and applying save to it daily. When approached to be civil and accountable for what happened by Dr K in their facility they have repeatedly ignored my individual attempt to solve this without lawyers and a large law suit. So much for making the next right choice. Be aware of your surroundings the best you can while undergoing intensive mental health treatment at Monima. Not everyone here is concerned about your best interest.

I'm not surprised that he still works there. Women, and men, don't go here!!! It's a hell hole. it's not even in Malibu! There Malibu house burned down. It's in Agoura Hills! It's a nice place but I'm sorry, it's NOT MALIBU!!! False advertising! A friend picked up my belongings but I'm still waiting for them to ship me my purse, credit cards and other items. DONT GO HERE FOR YOUR RECOVERY!!! A lot of the staff and counselors are good but it's not worth it in my opinion unless you want to be drugged out , 1 counseling session in 3 long drawn out week while the pneumonia took over and the dehydration started. Thanks for reading this. Have a great day everyone! On other thing, my family member and I both complained and they did nothing even after seeing my grossly swollen feet, ankles and legs. I could have died. I'm just so very grateful to be alive!

Newport, overall, was generally a negative experience for my child. There are some good aspects to it in the house in Camarillo, like the family therapist, John. He was a great professional and seemed to be very good at being calm, caring, and insightful. He was even good at dealing with our teen girl during her manic moods and ups and downs. Pretty much everyone outside of him has been a disaster. My child's personal therapist, allegedly called my child 'psychotic' and 'narcissitic' to her face in the middle of a therapy session. Her therapist also spoke to us, the parents on the call and let us know that our child is not "hopeless, yet". Not hopeless? Really? Wow, what encouragement. Her psychiatrist, after having talked to my child for 2 minutes already diagnosed her as crazy and proceeded to record their conversations (and ours) without any consent. She then went on a long tangent about how she loves dogs and can't imagine that our child may be endangering the dog we own. Newport's motto is "unconditional" love. They claim they will love your child until they can love themselves...however, they held my child for 50 days offering minimal psychiatric support then kicked her out after giving us 2 days notice because she was not 'participating' in group activities and allegedly became romantic with another patient (not true). They didn't even let her know she was leaving on the day of (which they promised they would do) so my child was terrified and shocked when we showed up. My child is autistic, and was diagnosed with bipolar. Is she easy to deal with? No. Is she rude and disrespectful at times? Yes. But isn't that what Newport claims that they can deal with? Bipolar, borderline, and other teens who've experienced trauama -- that's what they claim to treat. Well, it seems to be that they only treat those teens if they are easy to deal with. And if you've ever met troubled teens that are "easy" to deal with, why would we need a residential facility to begin with?

Since 1999, Dr. Brower has provided Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy for anxiety and depression. He is an author, speaker, and national radio host. His life purpose is to help you unlock the unconscious experience so you no longer have to hide or punish yourself for simply being who you are. Raised by a mother struggling with high anxiety and a father with dysthymia, also known as chronic mild depression, young Jonathan Brower was deeply affected by the very real and disturbing reality of his parents' disorders. By the age of 16, Jonathan was devouring books by and about Sigmund Freud to help him make sense of the most important people in his life - his family. This interest led to a lifetime of education earning him a PhD in Sociology with an emphasis on Social Psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Realizing the tremendous healing power of psychotherapy, Dr. Brower immersed himself in his studies to earn a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at California State University, Dominguez Hills. From there he committed himself to completing 3,000 hours of supervised therapy and passing the proper written and oral exams to receive his license as a therapist.
