Absolutely f aweful people to deal with. Sold us a bad engine, then refused to give us the money back because the intake manifold and the exhaust manifolds were no longer on the engine. After we invested hundreds of dollars in new seals and gaskets for the engine. After 3 weeks the engine had low oil pressure. We were not notified that they wanted the motor mounts back, intake manifold back, and the exhaust manifolds back. Engines are not sold with these components, so why would they leave them on the engine when we purchased the engine. On top of that, its an hour drive away and they refuse to do the right thing and take the engine back and offer a credit for the $3,000 6.2 Denali Engine. Have a nice day you f faces. My credit card company is already gonna take the money back from you and you will never see this engine again. read more

I came here after doing an online search for an engine control module for my wife's Subaru. There were only two auto salvage yards fairly close to me that had the part I was looking for. Grady's was one of them; I called to see if the part was still available, and was told that it was, and was already removed from the vehicle. (In contrast, the other salvage yard had NOT removed the part from the vehicle, which wasn't even in their main yard!). The price Grady's charged for the ECM (also referred to as the engine computer or "brain box") was a reasonable $75 (in comparison, people selling ECMs on eBay seem to charge around $100-$125, plus there's shipping costs). Now, Grady's offers no warranty on ECMs or other electronic parts - a policy which is not uncommon, for obvious reasons. As a backyard mechanic since my teen years in the '80s, I've been to just about every auto salvage yard in Rhode Island, and some in nearby Massachusetts and Connecticut, but I'd never been to Grady's before. It's actually not far from Pawtucket, R.I., and easy to get to. It's located in a mostly residential area. Since this is not a self-service salvage yard like Pick N' Pull, I was not able to assess the amount and variety of vehicles in their yard. My transaction was limited to their office area, which is notable for two things: several hand-written signs describing their policies; and several photos/posters of Shiloh Shepherd dogs (similar to German Shepherds). Out of curiosity, I read reviews of Grady's on Yelp and Google, and saw several 1-star reviews, many of which describe the husband and wife who own the place as rude. While I wouldn't describe them as warm, friendly people, they weren't rude to me over the phone, or in person. They appear to be strict or unwavering when it comes to their business policies - maybe some customers interpret that as rudeness. I would describe them as all business. I tried to ask them questions about their dogs, since I'm a dog lover too, but they didn't talk very much at all about them - then again, they were pretty busy during my visit. Anyway, they were one of the few places that had the part I needed, and they correctly confirmed that they still had it before I drove there, so I didn't waste my time. Great place if you're looking for cheaper parts off of broken cars. Typical junkyard except that it's not a pick and pull place, which doesn't really matter. Prices are fair and they even bring you out to the vehicle to inspect the part before purchasing it, which is a great just Incase there's more to the online picture. Service was fine, no one was in an ecstatic mood but I'm used to that kind of attitude in junkyard areas. The receptionist gentleman gave me some good advice about what to do to get more out of an accident that wasn't my fault, so a nice little tip from their end was helpful for the near future. I wish I could give no stars, what a horrible and shocking experience, I recently called for an used engine, initially it was fine, I was asked for my vin # to see if the motor matched, I was told it did, I said I would be down next day, that's when the problems began, the woman who I assume is his wife couldn't have been ruder, impolite, inpatient and unprofessional. I showed up for the engine, not having done this before and making a $900 purchase I wanting to make sure this was the right engine, prior to this I was told by a very knowledgable and experienced mechanic , whom only deals with these engines that there was 2 types of engines from the year I was asking about!!, so I preceded to ask some questions about the engine to find out if this was the right engine of the 2, when I did she was rude, hostile, condescending , impatient, probably the worst customer service I have ever received. Still trying to be polite and not understanding why I was being treated this way, I said I would check with my mechanic and get back to her. After a couple of hours I received a email from her husband Paul stating that he didn't want to sell me the engine and has never dealt with someone who has asked so many questions and wasted their time, that I didn't trust them and my "friend " the mechanic should stick to fixing cars instead of running his lip about things he knows nothing about! I asked maybe 5 questions, really???? My reply was , I'm sorry that asking questions and doing my due diligence on this engine is upsetting to u, as I explained to the woman at your establishment, there are 2 engines in 98, the m52 and the m52tu or so I have been told, I asked if I bought the engine and it turned out to be the wrong one could I return it and the answer was no, so i have to be sure it's the right engine, if it turns out to be the wrong one I've got a 600 pound $900 paper weight, it's not a matter of trust, I've never done this before just trying to be thorough. I was very polite, I didn't mean to upset anyone! After this reply, I received another bitter and insulting email!! I'm not sure what all the negative reviews are about. My girlfriend needed a transmission. I quickly found what I was looking for on their website, called to reserve the part, and showed up later that day to pick it up. I talked with the owner on the phone and met both the owner and his wife when we arrived. Sure, their personalities maybe a bit gruff, but they were very nice and very helpful, not only making sure we had the right part, but also helping her get another part she realized she needed and recommending a mechanic that would do the work at a great price. We talked with them about their Shiloh Shepherds and I even helped the owners wife get her touch ID set up on her iPhone. Next time I need an auto part, they are the first place I'm going to look. read more

There should be a spot for no stars cause this place does not deserve the one star that i gave them I can see why why they only have a 2.5 star rating. I own a Service & Repair shop with used car dealership and i have never in my life met or talked with such arrogant ignorant people. Long story short I bought some parts back in December 2019 1 of the items did not work returned they did not have the same part i was looking for so gave me a credit so few days later they were listing another part that i needed so i called because i miss placed my credit slip knowing that this was only within a 3 day time span they would not give me my credit. So just this moring i have sinced found my slip with the credit on it called them for the part i was looking for told the guy that i had a credit he said bring every thing with me ect ect. Not even 5 mins later the guy calls me back to ask what the credit was for and the date and told me that he would not honor the credit from a year ago and hung up on me . Who does business like that so because you didnt have any used parts in this past year not to mention we are in the middle of a pandemic and alot of places were shut down you are not gonna honor your credit and you got the part that i bought back . Drove 1.5 hours to pick up a part. They said they would take a check. When I gave them the check they said there machine said its no good. My account has 100X more than enough $ in it. The women is VERY rude and the guy just doesn't care. They just walked away and say "We're done here". Your machine is a piece of garbage. The women is (without joking) insane. Shes not all there. She's like someone you would only see in a movie. But wow people like this really exist? I could only imagine what would happen if I had bought the part and it was no good. If there was less than 1 star, I would have rate Grady's auto parts. We got 90 day warranty and they did not keep their promise. We bought a rebuild transmission for over 1000. The mechanic installed the transmission after driving few miles the truck stopped, had to towed back to the shop and the mechanic said the transmission was the problem. We called Grady's and they were rude as so many people said on yelp. Please dont waste your money. read more

Awful experience. I found my part (radiator) online and called to verify. I spoke to a lady and was told they had it in stock so I then asked if it was possible to prepay over the phone in order to hold the part because I was coming from CT (2 hours away). I actually got an attitude and was told NO, you don't prepay over the phone. I was taken back because of the tone, as if I just said something off the wall. I then asked if they would be open on Saturday the very next day, so I could hurry up and make sure the part didn't get sold; I got the same type of response with the same tone. I then ended up leaving CT the next morning at 7am and after taking my time and making a few rest stops, arrived at 9:30, only for them to tell me that the only one they had, had a hole in it.....Terrible experience and completely unprofessional all around. read more

I really should have read the reviews before going to gradys. All the negative things people have said is true. They do not honor their 90 DAY WARRANTY. Even though it states all parts are able to be returned (except for electric parts) when asked for my money back I was told I put it in wrong. Haha funny I'm a licensed mechanic yet I put it in wrong? Yet Paul who is not a mechanic has the right to tell me I put a starter in wrong? What a joke this place is.
