Me, grandma and grandpa were driving around looking for nearby vacation spots and, while visiting GrayEagle we saw this little spot. We came inside to a small but cozy little spot with lots of little tables all around and a tile floor! We were greeted almost immediately, set to our table and given menu's! And within minutes we had our order taken and ready to go! Very fast and efficient! I ordered the Bacon Burger with fries and it was pretty good! The burger was well cooked, the lettuce was pretty fresh too! The bacon was a little more cooked than my preference but it was still good. The fries were okay, a little under-seasoned but thankfully there was salt and pepper at our table. Overall, a pleasant little place to stop and eat at in the area! It's a shame the time it's open isn't very long, but it's good eating while it's open! So disappointed with the food at this place! They were out of our first choice sandwich so we ordered a Reuben sandwich instead. The corned beef was so tough that the first bite into the sandwich pulled all of the meat out of the bread. It was just hanging from my mouth & the sauerkraut was all over! Tried to cut in to the meat & eat it that way but again the meat was too much for the little butter knife provided! Wasn't worth it! Tossed it!! Not going back, & not recommending it. This is the place I always come for breakfast when I'm here. Consistently good across the board! The food and service are great! I normally come here with a group, but this time I was solo. I was seated right away and attended to quickly I ordered a Scramble with a pancake on the side. The food arrived so quick! It was really shocking. It's not like the place was empty either. This was on the weekend. Both my dishes were great! The prices here are also very reasonable and portions are generous. So great value for your money. On a Wednesday, this is one of the few places to grab a bite in the Graeagle area. Unfortunately, the service is not great and the food is extremely average. It took about 8 minutes for them to clear a table for us to sit at in a mostly empty restaurant, which isn't too long but then it took another 10 minutes for us to be greeted and have our drink order taken. We had the chicken strips, patty melt, taco salad, and wedge salad. The bill came to $77. This place is quite pricey for what you are getting. The patty melt was extremely under seasoned along with the fries. The wedge salad was very small. The chicken strips seemed like they were of the frozen variety. Although everything was hot, the food just didn't have flavor. If you are in the area on one of the days of the week where it's the only place open, go ahead and eat here. Service was terrible and the older woman they hire as the server more of less throws the food at you on the table with 0 finesse or care. While the younger server seemed pleasant enough, she was not really the one serving our table for the most part and everything we asked of them from a refill on coffee to extra napkins seemed to be such an inconvenience. They didn't bother to bring us any waters either and my omelet came out lukewarm and flavorless. The only reason we ate here is due to lack of options . I learned that next time we come this way we will make our own food . Wouldn't go back again , this place seems to be a staple for the locals who would eat just about anything and desperate tourists foraging for food last minute. read more

Greagle is a pretty place in the woods. At about 60 miles from Reno it's a bit of a trek but a fun drive in the country. The restaurant is an old time place. Quite rustic. I think that people come here to get away from the hectic city life. The food was decent. The people were nice. It's worth a stop if you are in the area. read more

My wife and I have eaten here a number of times over the past six years. Yesterday, however, we had a poor experience for the first time. We sat inside, usually we are outside on the deck with the dog, so hearing the owner/cook complain about my wife wanting the bacon on the side of her spinach and feta salad took us by surprise. The restaurant was nearly deserted, but he complained (loudly) about a minor substitution. Then he complained again when she substituted her dressing for something other than what the menu listed. The waitress cautioned us that he may not agree to the substitution, so I guess to prove a point or just to be a wise guy, he sent the bacon out way before the salad was delivered to our table. I don't usually leave negative reviews unless something is completely unacceptable. You shouldn't have to take crap from an establishment when you're paying your hard-earned money for a service. We've always had decent meals with friendly waitresses, but we will not return. We'll drive to Quincy in the future, I'll find a restaurant that gives you two slices of toast instead of one and won't change you to $60 for breakfast/lunch for two. read more

It's been a while since I've been here, and they must have a new cook. It is so much better. I ordered the veggie omelet(something I never order) and a side of bacon. The omelet was PERFECTLY cooked and the veggies inside were fresh. The side of thick bacon provided the meat that I was also craving(for some reason, I didn't want it in the omelet). The other thing I enjoyed about the omelet was that it wasn't giant. It was a perfect serving size that filled you up, but also didn't weigh you down for hiking or swimming. Service was excellent and welcoming. We stopped by there again a couple days later, since I was craving that omelet, but they must have had an emergency and were closed. Sitting outside is always a hit or miss, but I usually have my dog with me so sitting outside is common. The weather was nice, the tables were clean, our waitress was friendly. We both got the eggs Benedict, although I ordered mine with no ham, as I always do. For the first time EVER out of everywhere I have ever been, the waitress came out with my bill and told me she charged me less because I didn't get ham. No where in my life has given me a discount for that. I was so incredibly impressed. I always am bummed when I don't see a veggie Benedict as an option on the menu, but have learned to deal with it. My wife grew up in Quincy, not far from the Graeagle Restaurant. As we were heading home from a weekend in Quincy today on Hwy 89 we stopped at the Graeagle Restaurant and had lunch for the first time. Having had great food at the Wildflower Cafe and Pattie's Thunder restaurant in Quincy we were expecting to find another hidden gem in the area. To say we were disappointed would be an understatement. My wife and I both agreed, our lunch at the Graeagle Restaurant was the worst meal we've ever had in a restaurant in the 43 years we've been together. We've traveled extensively across North America, Canada and Mexico eating at literally every type of restaurant you can imagine and I mean every type of eating establishment. Our experience today at Graeagle Restaurant was absolutely the worst dining experience we have ever encountered. The meal was simple, two orders of Huevos Rancheros, one with eggs over easy and one with scrambled eggs. To say it was bad is gross understatement, even more gross than the meal. The tortillas were looked and tasted as though they were straight out of a grocery store day old plastic bag and had no sign of touching a pan to be even slightly warmed. They were so tough it traps knife and some effort to cut them. The refried beans had the consistency and flavor of coming out of an open can left open in the back of the refrigerator. The green chilies were also straight out of a can, had no flavor and swimming in the canned chili sauce. The meager sampling of grated cheese was also stale, off the shelf, bargain store cheese and cool to the touch. I'm not sure where the salsa came from but I'm am sure it wasn't fresh. The guacamole may have been home made but I was afraid to try it while my wife's sliced avocado was okay, not bad, just okay. We managed to eat about a third of our order because we had been quite hungry. We were left with a rather fowl aftertaste that stayed with us for the rest of the afternoon. Fortunately we managed to make it home and the stomach upset didn't start until about ten hours after we left the restaurant. The restaurant dining room itself appeared clean. We were greeted and seated quickly by a very pleasant young busgirl who answered a quick question and brought us water and menus. Our waitress, a middle aged, heavyset woman may have been having a bad day. I don't mead middle aged woman in a negative way as we are pretty old ourselves and at a point where we'd appreciate being called middle aged. She was gruff, overtly unfriendly, took our order, dropped our plates off and a few minutes later the bill. The only thing she didn't do is put a boot in our butts to get us to leave. We didn't complain, we didn't request anything extra so maybe she was just having a bad day. The food was certainly having a bad day and maybe she was tired of slinging slop to customers she is likely to never see again. If you need to use the restroom while mistakenly entering this place, you out of luck because the men's restroom was out of order unless you needed a urinal and don't mind washing without soap and drying your hands on your pants. They were kind enough to post a sign on the stall door referring you to the gas station next door but I suspect any repeat customer in the last few year would know that. That stall door hadn't been opened in so long the note was turning yellow with the tape peeling and cracked from age. We weren't just disappointed with our meal, we were disgusted with it. For those of you older readers with military experience, a can of cold ham and eggs from a C-Ration meal would taste like a gourmet meal compared to what we attempted to eat at the Graeagle Restaurant today. Do yourself and your wallet a favor, don't even consider eating at this place unless you're do so on a dare or as a prank. Even then you should have access to a toilet for the next 24 hours. I don't like posting negative reviews but this place needs to come with map, GPS and state highway warning signs. If you're able and are passing through Quincy while in the area, try Patti's Thunder Cafe for breakfast and lunch or Wildflower Cafe for dinner, both are absolutely great. Quincy has several quality restaurant options, these two just happen to be two our favorites. I see I was asked what could this place do to improve. My advice would be to close, repair the restroom, hire cooks that can cook, use fresh ingredients and hire a staff that actually like their job and people. The owners may want to start by visiting the two other restaurants I mentioned in my review. You'll get an idea of what makes a successful restaurant where customers can't wait to come back. Graeagle is a special place full of amazing individuals who take pride in living in the mountains. This little restaurant is a hopping place on weekends and this past Saturday was no exception. The Graeagle Crafrlt show was in full swing, by the time we decided to have some lunch. Wait time was 25 minutes but we spent that time enjoying a cold beer at the bar next door. Once we were seated service was quick and friendly, though they were busy and in the run the whole time. The food was pretty good, the interior hasn't been updated probably ever, and the server gets overwhelmed if you ask to split into more than 2 checks (but I get it). Wow, Candy was rude! Two of us came in for a late breakfast early lunch and were sat in a reasonable amount of time. Little did we realize we be waiting 15 minutes to even put our drink order in. We asked Candy the only employee we could reach if we could have someone come by. Mind you 4 tables came in after us and we're already waited on. She started coping with an attitude saying if you came here for fast service it's gonna be a while. We didn't mind waiting, just wanted to be acknowledged. I was hungry and the charm of this town drew me in so I thought I'd eat here. The one-star is mainly for the server. She was acting very strange around me. I'm obviously not a local but this did seem like a touristy area so they should be expecting tourists to come through. The server also asked me multiple times which chicken I wanted and asked me questions as she was walking away. I thought maybe she was just having an off day but she acted fine around other customer's tables. I ordered a chicken sandwich on gluten free bread with fries. I was too hungry to care but the meal itself was mediocre. The chicken was very dry and instead of coming up with different alternatives to mayo, my server said she would just bring it out plain with a side of ranch and ketchup. Wow, nice customer service skills there. Its my food and YOU get to choose how I enjoy it without asking me? The original girl that seated me was much more friendly than my server. I tipped my server 10% but honestly didn't feel that she earned earned one cent of it. Later I went to another restaurant for dinner and tipped over 25%. I have been coming to Graeagle my entire life. I have to say vey little has changed (and that's a great thing)! I love that my kids get to experience the same thing I have. The Graeagle Restaurant is run by 2 fabulous owners, and the wait staff is very good. The food is really good home cooking and the portions are huge!! I love the atmosphere as patrons are known by name and the drinks are already prepared before they sit down! They KNOW their customers, they love the campers and golfers, and I've never heard a negative word from any of them. Also, a perk, is that they give young people an opportunity to work in a restaurant with no experience and have the patience to train them. Kudos to you Ed and Candi for running an outstanding establishment read more
