However when I had it again another visit it was broken and old, like it was the end of the batch, very disappointing. I didnt think the grouper Ruben was a good pairing as the saurkraut overpowered the fish. The cracked conch which is fried was tough, dry, and flavorless. Service was excellent

The dining area is open but we'll cooled due to a nice misting feature. It did not make you wet, just cool. The service was attentive and friendly. We opted for the fried conch, grouper Ruben, and she crab soup. The soup was amazing. Think crab bisque but richer. It was so good we ordered it twice. Once when they opened and another time around 3pm. This first bowl was fresh and super yummy. The second bowl served later in the day was so think it was like a dip. Reminded me of the soup you get on too good to go. Def not fresh, but still tasty. The Ruben was well cooked. I liked it mostly but the fish did get lost in the sando. Not the best way to have fresh Florida seafood but I'm glad I tried it. The cracked conch was just meh. Well cooked as well but kind of tough and no really seasoning on it. The fries were super yummy. This place needs to be a stop when you are in the area.

I don't go places twice on vacation, but after having a less than ideal experience at a nearby…read morecompetitor, I decided to come back for the drinks and the Grouper sandwich! Courtney was my waitress, and even when slammed, she never forgot me. She was professional and did an outstanding job both times I ate with her. As for the food, it was the best I had in Clearwater. I prefer Diner and Dive local eats compared to overpriced and pretentious restaurants. I had the seafood platter and the Grouper sandwich, and both were outstanding and grilled to perfection. I enjoyed my seafood scallops and grouper with green beans on the platter, but I LOVED my sandwich and fries! This was also my FIRST stop on the Cocktail Challenge (four stops for four signature drinks at four locations), and I enjoyed my drink on a humid day and, if I'm being honest, loved my Dockside Lemonade the best of all the drinks on the challenge. I had the Banana Hammock and, of course, the Rum Runner, which was outstanding, but this Dockside Lemonade was cool and refreshing and welcomed. Little sweet as a heads up, but really a nice summer drink! At the end of the day, this was a great way to start my challenge and Clearwater vacation. It can get busy with its proximity to the beach, so beware! ***For the record, if you are interested in the challenge. Go South Beach, Rockaway, Saltwater (for the views and true on-the-beach dining). End with a grouper sandwich (the best I had) at the Original and then cash in your passport at the next block at Off the Hook!

Great prices and solid food…read more I recently read a book about how most grouper isn't actually grouper. The book called out that Frenchy's grouper is the real deal because they fish for it themselves. That was enough to make me want to try this restaurant. I'm glad they have this location, because it was two minutes from Opal sol where we were staying. We were here at about 1130 on a Saturday and there was tons of seats available. It doesn't seem that big, but being that it's pretty far south from a lot of other places I think the size fits the demand. You can sit outside on the first floor or upstairs. Upstairs, there were only about eight tables, but it was air-conditioned and we had a nice view of the beach. All the drinks are so inexpensive. We are talking less than $10 each. I got a butter, pecan old-fashioned and my husband got a margarita and we both enjoyed our drinks. For our entrées, I got a super grouper grilled sandwich with coleslaw, my younger son got a pretzel that was in the shape of Fish, my older son got a chicken tender basket, and the two of them shared, and my husband got a peel and eat shrimp. This was the perfect amount of food for all of us, we ate it all. The pretzel was a huge hit, it comes with queso, and the kids demolished it. The grouper sandwich tasted a little dry, but again I love the fact that it is real grouper so I would definitely try again. Service was pretty quick and music was old school (think Price). I really enjoyed this place and we will definitely come back.

While at the beach we started to get hungry so me and my princess decided to grab an early dinner after a day of long travel and the hotel receptionist said " go eat outside at the sandbar!" Brianna was our server and was amazing ! She made my little one a Shirley temple which she loved and kept the cold beers coming for me . We ordered shrimp cocktail for appetizers and wings then I decided on the grouper sandwich with a side salad and fries and mini cheeseburger sliders and fries for my little one. We enjoyed our view of the ocean and stayed after we ate and got to see dolphins swimming near by. We will definitely be having lunch here a few more times before we leave. Fish is fresh caught and so good I'm already thinking about dinner lol ! 10/10!

We had drinks to start; my 20 year old and 16 year old had soda. Wife had a Coroner and I have the spicy jalepeno margarita. All was great! We did not get apps, but there are lots of choices. For mains I had the Birria tacos with onion rings. One daughter had the same. Great taste, but if I had to do it over I would get a side of salad or coleslaw as it was a lot of fried on my plate. That said, finished it all! My other daughter had the chicken Cesar salad and loved it. Chicken was very tasty. My wife had the grouper basket. She thought it was tasty and hit the spot. Service was not bad but not great. Just not friendly. Overall a great stop. Be prepared you are outside and if the weather turns you are on the hook. Also, no reservations so first come first serve! Go. Here.
