It's inconsistent. Sometimes it's amazing. Sometimes the pizza is burnt. The wings are good. However the service is also very inconsistent.

Definitely go there. Looks like a little nothingburger but nay nay. We had the boneless wing appetizer which was crispy, covered w sauce, served with the all important celery and extra blue cheese dressing. Nicely spicy but not deadly. Very good. I had a cheese calzone with sausage. It was a nice size portion. The crust was superb as was the filling. I asked for extra gravy (tomato sauce to non Italians) and it too was perfect. Actual homemade gravy as evidenced by the bay leaf I fished out. Sister in law got a cheese steak sandwich which was also excellent. She loved the bread. Our waitress didn't have all the answers to our questions but was eager to go and find the answers. They only take cash so be prepared. I will definitely be back if find myself hungry in Walton NY. At this time, masks were optional which wasn't a problem since there were few others dining. Restaurant was clean and had no adverse odors. We had lunch around 2 pm on a Tuesday. read more

My wife called in for a pizza with a side of wings. The girl who answered the phone placed it down on the counter, after about 3 minutes my wife yelled " Hello". The girl picked up the phone and asked " What do you want?" Very rudely. My wife placed the order and the girl stated " That's it?" My wife said " Yes" and the phone was slammed down by the worker. When I arrived to pick up my order, I was informed my the pizza guy that my ticket was never given to him. It was found in the back and the order was not given to him. I was then told to wait on my order as it would be made in about 25 minutes. I waited and when I received my order the person who took my wifes original order rang me up, no apology. She gave me the nastiest of looks, took my cash and I left. Needless to say Grand ma D's has lost a customer! I don't usually write reviews but the treatment of both my wife & I was appalling. I rate my restaurant experiences on five things: quality of the food relative to my experience with similar food, how well the wait staff took care of us, how clean the restaurant is overall, the price points in regard to what we've ordered, and the atmosphere. I would like to give this restaurant four stars, the restaurant is clean, the food was good, the atmosphere was quaint and I felt there was value in what we ordered. I would like to go back however... we did an online search and saw that the hours are 11 to 9:30 Monday through Thursday. When we arrived there were no other hours posted any place else that we could see. As we were walking in around 11:15 someone was walking out with a carry out order. We didn't mind at all waiting near the counter as we were taking in the atmosphere which is simple and clean, nice. There was no one else in the restaurant at that time. An older gentleman walked out from the kitchen and asked "is she not out here?" We looked around and seeing no one just looked back at him quizzically. He kindly asked us to take a seat. As I turned away from the counter area to go to the tables I saw a woman back in the kitchen laughing and appearing to be talking to other people in the kitchen. I thought "that must be she". Indeed it was. The older gentleman must've had words with her while we were sitting down because she was nothing but rude to us, curt and looking at us as if we had done some thing to get her in trouble while she took our order. My husband ordered one of the specials-2 slices with one topping and a soda. I had another survival, egg salad in pita and added a soda. She delivered the slices and soda, briskly putting the bottles of soda on the table and the plate of slices in front of my husband, shot me a dirty look and said "the egg salad will be out in a minute" sharply. I looked at my husband and said "what did WE do?" She brought out the egg salad, we asked for crushed red pepper flakes and grated Parmesan cheese all of which she delivered with the same actions and attitude. We sat and ate our meal listening to her and the gentleman cut up with each other, using profanity. at one point she laughed and said @shut the f@&$k up!". By the time we finished our meal a couple of regular customers had come in. My how sweet she became. I turned to my husband and said "do not tip her." We did tip out to the pizza maker. Take away-not a bad place to grab a slice, reasonably priced, clean and cute but the waitress needs to keep her problems where they belong. We will not be going back. She may have been having a bad day, however a smile goes a long way, place the Plates on the table, do not drop them and, we had a baby with us who dropped her sippy cup just as the grumpy waitress was passing and didn't even blink, she just kept walking. I'm slightly biased because I had a relative who worked here for awhile (and as a high schooler many moons ago, I myself worked for an early incarnation of this place with the owner who is running the place now) so I know what was going on behind the scenes, so to speak. If you're ordering pizza, you're good. It's not GREAT pizza, but it's not half bad, either. Depends who's slinging dough that night. Plus, aside from Hess, that's the only place in town you're going to get a pie anyway, unless you opt for the more expensive and less flavorful Candido's wood fired stuff from Gardiner Place. I would stay away from the regular menu. Period. Well, maybe not the garlic knots. Those are delicious. The wings are good as well. But anything other than the stuff they cook in the pizza ovens, the stuff that's cooked in the back where you can't see what's going on...avoid avoid avoid. Dirty employees, smoking in the back of the restaurant while they prepare your food...yeah. Nasty. Just stick to the pizza. Have it delivered. Tip the delivery guys well (they're nice hometown guys). You'll always get a hot, fresh pizza delivered as quick as they can if you treat the drivers well. read more

A family favorite. I'm not really sure what it is about my family, but they love these dime-a-dozen, hole-in-the-wall "Italian" places. I use the word Italian generously... These places are usually a cross between a pizza place and a diner. Gramma D's is no exception. Gramma D's is really just a meh place. Their pizza is okay, since it is the center of their business. Family in Walton get it every time we're in town. Service is always about average. The "meh". I ordered some chili while I was there. It wasn't really that great. I could tell that they added some chili powder and ground beef to pizza sauce. I mean, I've done that at home when I've run out of tomatoes or something, but I was expecting more from an actual restaurant. Their fries are quite dry, in much need of ketchup. The okay. The pizza actually has some body to it. I know, some people think it's too thick, but it's a happy medium between too thick and floppy. I dislike floppy pizza with a passion. It had decent flavor, not really much of a wow factor though. The garlic knots were probably the best thing we got that day. They were fluffy and chewing with a good coating of garlic butter and parmesan cheese. Better exist, but they're still pretty good. If you're hungry in Walton, then it's an option. If you're not too hungry, and you're in Walton, better places surely exist near you. I'll probably end up going here again sometime and I'll find something to eat, but it's mostly because of family tradition. read more

What a great little dinner with friendly staff and good food. The owner was particularly nice and very helpful!

The waitress was never around, food was cold, and the special said it included garlic knots, when I asked, the waitress said she would check, but, was sure it did not, even though it was listed on the special board. She then came back to me, and said it was not included, and erased it from the board. She was busy staying away, as she had no other customers to wait on. I would think including a few garlic knots, even if not in the special, would not be that hard to do, and could actually keep a patron coming back. Well, guess that settles that. If you want so so service, go there, at least with that waitress, the other one working seemed very good at her job read more

Grew up going to Gramma D's, always been a family favorite. The service is usually pretty great and the food is always delicious. Pizza and wings delivered on a Friday night is definitely a highlight of the town and Gramma D's is always ready to do so. read more

My Mother And I stopped by yesterday afternoon and I have to say the food and service was excellent. The server was very friendly and professional. The food arrived in a timely manner and was very tasty I had wings and poppers and my Mum A b.l.t of which she enjoyed and she can be very picky . I have not yet tried the pizza but was recommended by a friend that it is the best in the area! so if you are looking for a quaint and modest place that won't hurt your wallet and believe me the prices are great compared to the local competition . As jess said in her/his review, as long as it's pizza or made in the pizza oven, it's good. Most of the cooks are not very good and do not respect what the customers ask for and I have seen in the back area, it is not that clean. The waitresses do just sit around but I would say only 2 waitresses every time I have been there are decent. I ordered a chef salad which ended up being worst plate I have ever been served anywhere. It consisted of a handful of cheap pizza toppings slapped on top of a pile of plain, sickly looking iceberg lettuce and topped with a huge wad of brown, soggy, CANNED mushrooms. It was seriousy repulsive. I did try to eat it but finally gave up. When the not so pleasant waitress dropped the bill and asked if I wanted a box for my obviously full plate, I told her I was not happy with the food. She became defensive and nasty. I decided not to persue the issue, but when I went to the register to pay, the man there asked me how everything was. I told him. They did not offer me any compensation at all and I still had to pay for the crappy food. Why ask how things are in the first place if you arent going to do anything about it? My opinion? A not so great plate is forgivable, but terrible service isnt. I would not reccomend that anyone waste their money there. read more
