I haven't been here in a while, and I forgot how delicious and affordable everything is. They put a cake aside for me, as they sell out fast. I also grabbed some semolina bread and some rainbow cookies. Thank you to the kind employee who put the cake aside for me. We loved this cake! It was moist, true to the idea of the rainbow cookie, and the icing was the perfect amount- not piled on. The raspberry filling was very subtle- just enough to hold the cake layers together - and this was perfect, as my kids expressed some concern over this detail, which they had not noticed in the cookie form. read more

Gramma's Bakery is a solid dessert spot in Delray Beach. The display case alone makes it hard to choose. Everything looks incredible. The key lime pie had that perfect flavor, tangy, creamy, and well balanced. The crust was buttery and held together nicely without being too thick. It felt homemade in the best way. The espresso mousse dome was both beautiful and delicious. The mousse was smooth and airy with a rich coffee flavor, and the overall sweetness level was just right. I came here to try the viral fruit pastries, which were very good, but very expensive. ( they on lot sell them on Wednesday's and Saturday's and sell out fast) Also bought a pack of the chocolate chip cookies which were quite disappointing, and didn't really taste like chocolate chip cookies, way too soft and tasted more cinnamon like. After trying this bakery three or four times I end up with the same disappointment. While cookies looked great in the display case the variety we ordered lacked the buttery component and texture and were chalk like and we ending up ditching them. A cake imparted a chemical aftertaste and the chocolate seemed artificial and instead of a nice smooth flavor the cake had a harsh disagreeable taste. The staff is friendly and prices are reasonable and perhaps management is trying to maintain a low(er) price point which is fine but it might be keeping the quality down. However all wasn't bad as the Onion Rolls were fresh, moist and good. The texture of the Challah was all wrong and instead of having some pull it was soft and roll like. However it had a subtle and fresh sweetness to it that was really surprising. This is not a place to go out of the way for (and it's out west - for me at least) but I would go back for the bread items and nothing else. read more

I always forget about this bakery, but I shouldn't. Owned by the same family as The Boys in Delray, these are the sisters and they sure know how to bake. I needed to pick up a dessert and I searched all over Boca for something fresh and special but couldn't find anything. The last thing I wanted was something from Publix. I started to think there has to be a real bakery close by. Then it came to me, just south of Atlantic on military in a small strip shopping center next-door to the boys is Grammas. Parking is easy, theres a big lot right in front. When you walk inside the smell is delicious and the cases have a nice variety of cakes, pastries, cookies and fresh baked bread. There's a sign that says we have a French Pastry chef on premise. They won me over right there! I bought a Key lime pie and some cookies. The Key lime pie was probably the best one I've had and thats saying a lot for South Florida. The cookies were so fresh. Excellent butter cookies and a nice assortment to pick from. I can't say enough good things about this bakery. I just really wish it was closer. read more

I have been to many bakeries in the USA, but this is by far the best bakery! Just as good as the ones in Europe. I found the place about a month ago but since i been back a couple times cause everything is so delicious and fresh, yummy! Their prices are very reasonable as well. Walk in and smell the delicious aroma of a genuine Italian bakery! It's a small spot located next to the delicious Bambino's pizza but just large enough to have everything you'd want: bread, cookies, pastries, cakes! We ordered some freshly filled cannolis that were some of the best I've ever had, the sfogliatella was amazing, and a small chocolate cake that was delish! The prices were reasonable too! I've been coming to Gramma's bakery for years and SO disappointing to find out recently that they've changed some of the ingredients in their recipes from REAL cream cheese icing to buttercream icing in their carrot cake. They're no longer making their red velvet cake with cream cheese icing either. One of the reasons I like to support mom and pop business instead of going to big box stores is because I want to support & preserve quality brands who use better ingredients, have better customer service. If Grammas is using the same cheap buttercream icing as Publix or any other chain stores why would I go out of my way to buy from Grammas? read more

I have fallen under the spell of their Boston Cream cake, eclairs, cream puffs, chocolate cream pie, and other chocolate-y desserts on more than one occasion. And when I need to get my daily intake of fruit, I know that the fruit tart will keep me healthy (wink wink) and utterly satisfied! Their savory breads are also just as delectable. You know when a bakery has got it going on when you can't decide between savory and sweet... so why not choose both? The other reason that I love Gramma's Bakery is because of the atmosphere. One step in the shop, and I feel like I've been whisked away to an old-timey bakery. The bakers are hard at work behind a glass wall, and the décor is really delightful. For some reason, being in the bakery makes me think of Mary Poppins. It's a very small bakery that makes you feel at home the moment you walk in. The staff was very friendly and busy but they moved the line fast. We ordered a few cookies, almond croissant (which was amazing). Overall I had a a great experience for my first time. Established in 1959, Gramma's Bakery is part of a series of family owned businesses in this area. You have the Boys Market for meat, cheese, and produce, The Girls for an old fashioned ice cream shop, strawberry picking, and bird rescue, Bambini's Garden Pizzeria, and finally Gramma's Bakery. Most of the businesses bleed into each other a bit with the items they sell but Gramma's is strictly baked goods. As soon as you walk in the door you are hit with a heavenly smell. The bakery cases carry all sorts of temptations and you can see the bakers working through a glass window in the back. Name a dessert and they have it. Italian, German, and French pastries, they have conquered every cuisine. One of my favorite things to get is a freshly piped cannoli. On my most recent visit I took an almond croissant to go before working it off on a hike. Cakes, pies, breads, and cookies, the array is staggering. If you are having a special event, grab one of their signature key lime pies. On top of being delicious, the prices are very reasonable too. Gramma's is my favorite bakery but all of the businesses run by this family are exceptional. read more
