I saw this bakery on yelp and decided to drive 25 mins to give it a try. While the staff was really helpful and friendly, the cake I purchased ( white chocolate and raspberry flavored) didn't taste great. You could barely taste any chocolate, the piping was messy, extremely sweet, but even worse than any of the things I mentioned above was how dry the sponge was. You could taste they tried to fix it by soaking it in a ton of syrup which only made it worse. It's safe to say I won't be coming back or recommending this place. Don't waste your time and money and buy a cake from a grocery store instead, it will taste better. read more

Established in 1959, Gramma's Bakery is part of a series of family owned businesses in this area. You have the Boys Market for meat, cheese, and produce, The Girls for an old fashioned ice cream shop, strawberry picking, and bird rescue, Bambini's Garden Pizzeria, and finally Gramma's Bakery. Most of the businesses bleed into each other a bit with the items they sell but Gramma's is strictly baked goods. As soon as you walk in the door you are hit with a heavenly smell. The bakery cases carry all sorts of temptations and you can see the bakers working through a glass window in the back. Name a dessert and they have it. Italian, German, and French pastries, they have conquered every cuisine. One of my favorite things to get is a freshly piped cannoli. On my most recent visit I took an almond croissant to go before working it off on a hike. Cakes, pies, breads, and cookies, the array is staggering. If you are having a special event, grab one of their signature key lime pies. On top of being delicious, the prices are very reasonable too. Backstory: Gramma fattening people since 1959. But that's the best way to eat them calories. Gramma bakery offers tons of cakes, pastries, cookies, breads, pies, bagels, rolls, packaged sweet treats, and more. I really couldn't decide what breads to get. The employees were super sweet and told me about the texture and variety. I ended up buying: Onion rye bread- Already tasted it when I got home. It was excellent. They asked if I wanted it thinly sliced, which makes the process so much easier. Cranberry walnut bread- This appears to be a holiday favorite and since it's October already, I'm already into getting all things that remind me of fall and winter. The breads are big and I decided to share them with my sister's family. So we all get to eat it nice and fresh. My guilty pleasure- I was able to say no to cookies and pastries this time. But still bought a mini chocolate mousse cake. It's nicely rich and decadent and all things what a cake should be. So very small space but they make the most of it and they have outdoor bistro seating so you can have your coffee and deserts outside if you desire. Their famous key lime pie is delicious their crem brûlée was ok more like pudding but came in a cute ceramic container which you can keep. As soon as I saw this kicky old car (think it was an Oldsmobile Rocket) with the ad on the side for Gramma's Bakery, I knew I had to find the place. I just knew that whoever would come up with such a kicky looking car would also have the most imaginative and innovative in bakery goods. Fortunately Gramma's Bakery was just a few doors down from the parked car and immediately upon entering I knew I was in for a treat. The baked goods, especially the desserts and pies, got my mouth watering from their mere appearance. There was so much to choose from I was having difficulties but decided I would go for one of the most beautiful Key Lime pies I've ever seen and I'm glad I did. Its taste, flavor and texture were outstanding; second to none. Gramma's Bakery is a really small bakery and absent any distinct ethnic stylization such as are with the Italian, French or German bakeries. Matter of fact if there would be any particular theme of a country to it, it would be American but more particularly with some of the fruit ingredients used, Floridian. I took Gramma's Bakery apple pie and the chocolate cake to Thanksgiving and both were a big hit. The apple pie was so flavorful that people were arguing who go the last piece. The cake was so moist but there no leftovers for anyone. read more

1-16-21 first review of the year. My cousin and his wife came to my home for dinner last Saturday night and brought dessert from Gramma's Bakery. Immediately I was drawn to the packaging as it was nice, it had a see through window on top so you can see what was inside without opening it up. Fortunately for me we were too full from dinner to get to the desserts before they left. So hubby and I next day split them. Well not an even split I shared the Tiramisu that was light as air and not too sweet very dangerous as you could just keep eating, delicious. The napoleons a favorite dessert of mine, were just ok. Hey I have been truly spoiled in my life when it has come to food so ordinary will not do. So tiramisu a five and napoleons a three, the icing on the top had an after taste. The cream was a bit heavy but still good. Definitely will seek out this bakery the next time I go to Delray. Would love to see what else they carry. This place officially wrecked any kind of diet I was planning for 2021 lol. read more

I finally came here after hearing so many good things about it and the wait was totally worth it. I am a sucker for bakeries and Grandma's did not disappoint. The bakery is small, but they carry all kinds of breads, pies, cookies, cakes and tarts. I was expecting they would only have certain things, but they really do have everything you can imagine, even single portions. This time we went for the Apple Cake to take to my parent's house and a Coffee Cake muffin and Tiramisu for the next day. The Apple cake was a total dessert success, it was moist and had the perfect amount of sweetness, cinnamon and brown sugar. The muffin was amazing and the perfect breakfast the next morning. I wish I lived closer to them because I would be there every weekend for my sweet fix. If you live in the area, this bakery is a must. read more

This is an interesting setup with two different counters and other items on display on the shelves. So, servicing customers could be challenging going from one end of the counter to the other. This was my first visit to this bakery. How did I not know this was related to Boy's Farmers Market? Now I know where to get my bread without having to fight the other parking lot. Four stars for: Almond croissant, Cranberry Walnut bread, Pistachio muffin. When I got to my car, I realized there were no napkins to munch on these. Probably should've ask them to warm up my muffin. Wonder if they would. Great selection of fresh cream pies reasonably priced. Fruit pies were under $10. I could see picking one up from here for a party. Service could be better. Today I decided to pay a visit to this family-owned establishment. I took my girlfriend to the petting zoo portion, and we wound up feeding the goats and the birds and the donkey, etc. it makes for a very friendly, relaxing atmosphere whether you're on a first date or need the area to talk with somebody while doing something else at the same time. I definitely recommend this place as I do grandma's bakery; I had the vegan chocolate dessert that was absolutely delicious; this is a place that you walk into and gain 40 pounds just staring at the desertsn I had no clue that there was something vegan it tasted this good. I love the ambiance at this bakery, including the fact that the partition separating the front of the bakery where the counters are and the back is made of glass, so you can see how clean it is and watch some of their items as they are being made, depending on the time of day you go. Unfortunately however, I have consistently found that most of their baked goods look much better than they taste, and the staff wasn't sufficiently knowledgeable about their own products. For example, I was recently looking for a kosher dessert, or at the very least, one that was crustless that I could bring to Passover dinner. Aside from having pre-packaged, no-sugar added plain loaf cakes, there was a strawberry mousse cake that looked quite good, and which did not appear to have any type of crust. The associate who helped me confirmed there was no crust, and so I purchased it. When it was served later that evening however, there was yellow cake crust at the bottom, which for some reason, did not extend out to the edges of the cake, so it was not visible until it had been cut. I would have appreciated receiving accurate information from the store associate. read more

I am really disappointed in the service I was given after being a customer since the bakery opened. The bread and pastries are good, the service and how I was treated....horrible. I ordered a cake on Tuesday morning for a Thursday pickup at 10 AM. I arrive and I'm asked if the cake is under a different name. No but I stated the type of cake and I requested Happy Birthday Rachel. After waiting and no cake, a cake turns up with Rachel spelled RacheR. I sent it back for the R at the end to just get bigger the second time. Then the 3rd attempt was a plaque that is smeared cause they kept trying to spell Rachel. I finally said come on this is the 3rd attempt and it looks like a child did this. I asked to speak to the manager. The woman said she is the manager I was told she will give me my money back. What? So I have no birthday cake for Rachel? Unacceptable. I said try again. The final attempt...I'm now at the bakery 25 minutes. A customer asked me what is going on. I told her. The manager comes out no cake and tells me she's giving me my money back that I cannot tell customers. She said there is no reason I need to talk about it when they are fixing it. First off I can say what I want when I want and now I'm and telling the story here for a wider audience because of the lack of professionalism. If I recall I am in fact the customer. The final attempt looked like a child wrote it again. I don't work in cake decorating and I know I can do better. I took the cake. No discount just a piss poor attitude towards me. This bakery has every delicious fresh cake, pie, cookie, pastry or bread you can imagine..it is related to The Girls, The Boys and Bambini's Pizza and is right next door. This last visit I purchased a chocolate cream pie for my sons birthday cake at his request :-) A prior visit I brought home a fresh kiwi and strawberry 9" fruit tart with a custard cream filling and a Plum Ricotta 9" tart we could not say enough about. Oh, did I mention I also brought home another 9" Ricotta tart this visit for me!! They didn't have the plum but they had thin glazed orange slices on top. I will add the picture if it's still intact when I arrive home. (After the plum tart, my boyfriend said he never tasted anything so good.) Prices are very fair and parking is easy. I went there today. They normally have the best baked goods. I wanted a plain Mocha Cake , they only had one with Kahlua. Instead I got 4 cheese Danish and 2 ( that's all they had were 2) prune Danish. I have been a customer there for a number of years. We were having guests for dinner. To my dismay, the prune Danish were stale. The pastry was as hard as a rock! I am going back Tuesday with my receipt. I will see if they will replace them with fresh or give Me a store credit! This bakery is unlike any other! It has that old time charm and the desserts look so authentic and homey and so good- who am I kidding they WERE good. I felt so reminescent of old time movies and pop culture stepping into this place. The cakes and pies looked slightly messy but in the they def made it just now feel, not the cookie cutter perfect iced kinda stuff you see in grocery store. A slight lopsided touch gives such a human feel to these pastries! I recommend the tarts. They had fruits on them and they were not too sweet or not too overwhelming in butter and trans fat feel- nice, light, and summery. My bros and I got the raspberry tart and it was a perfect finish to our pizza at Bambinis! The cakes looked phenomenal- like they won some Southern Living baking competition. Moist, decadent, and home made looking. I heard the breads they bake are great too! You really can't go wrong in this place bc the selection was phenomenal and there's something for everyone. Updating my review. Don't recall why I ever gave it 4 stars as this bakery is well worth over 5. I come at least once if not twice whenever I'm in town. Customer service is always great and I love the hats the ladies wear. My absolute favorite items are the tiramisu and the almond tiramisu. You can never go wrong with the almond tiramisu! This past visit I came in with my family to get a small snack. I got the cheese danish, while my sisters got the fudge brownie and chocolate chip cookie. Let me say, the cheese danishes here are the best I've ever had. The filling is just the right amount of tangy, and the pastry itself is flavorful and has an amazing texture. Every time I return they are just as good: an absolute must try. The brownie and the cookie were just as delicious, and we all enjoyed every bite! Ordered a cake for a special occasion. Should have been a super simple cake. Ordered a vanilla cake with buttercream icing, simple right? This was the worst cake I've ever had. Not only was the icing whipped (which wouldn't have been the worst thing), but the icing was terrible and the amount of cake to icing ratio was insane. The icing that was in my cake had no sweetness. It was as though they forgot to add powder sugar and vanilla, and just whipped up some heavy cream and threw it on the cake. Keep in mind it was supposed to be buttercream in the first place. The cake was three layers of cake and double that amount in icing. I could not believe the amount of tasteless icing between the extremely thin layers of cake. The cake texture was also not as expected.Worst cake I've ever had. I would not recommend custom cakes for any occasion from here. read more

So completely disappointed with our experience with some of Gramma's Bakery Pies! I've heard only good things about the bakery and was excited to have my first taste of some of their pies. Our favorite pies are Banana Cream and Coconut Cream!! Both were on the menu so we ordered and took them home. Once we cut into them we discovered they were partially frozen with icicles. I thought to myself, "Who the heck freezes cream pies? Quality bakeries should have them freshly made!" Plus, I've read where most bakers do not recommend freezing cream pies because the freezing process would then interfere with the pie's texture and quality as the mostly liquid ingredients could not hold up well together to the freezing temperatures. The rep at the bakery didn't say anything about the pies being frozen and that they needed to be defrosted before consuming. If they had told me the were baked and then previously frozen, I certainly wouldn't have purchased the pies as I was expecting freshly made "cream" pies. At any rate, we had both pies and wanted to taste them correctly (not partially frozen with icicles), so we reluctantly had to leave them in the fridge to thaw out over night. Well, the next evening after dinner we cut a few slices to have the pies for dessert and the pies were just awful!!! They basically tasted watered down!! Like water was mixed in with the cream. Simply put, it was just Not Good! I was so disappointed. I just don't think they should be freezing their cream pies. And they should be warning customers that their pies are frozen. I'm very interested to know if others have encountered this same situation as I haven't seen a review like mine posted. But if Gramma's bakery's protocol is to freeze their cream pies then I'm almost certain others have had the same experience with the watered down cream pies as we have. To simplify: The Boys is a stand alone building and their three other family owned businesses are located in the plaza next door. Five years ago I reviewed The Boys. At that time I was a Yelp newbie & I considered my seven bullet points to be a review. Now I look back at my earlier reviews in 2013 & I cringe. Stringing together four sentences is not a review. How can it be without any details? Sure, now I know this but I sure didn't back then. Sorry I got off subject; so back to Gramma's Bakery. Small & quaint, this bakery makes it all; pies, cupcakes, cannolis, bread pudding, cookies, croissants, ruggelach, tarts, bagels and real Italian bread to name just a few. I can't mention all of their homemade goodies because my memory is not what it used to be. I am old. Now this is interesting; the four family businesses share their food. The delicious bakery items you purchase at The Boys~it's made at Gramma's. Those yummy meatball heroes at Bambini's, well the meatballs are made at The Boys butcher shop, where they are also sold by the pound. Thanks for the tip Ariel. The delicious sesame seeded Italian bread that Bambini's serves their heroes on, well the bread is also sold in The Boys bakery. Those homemade preserves from The Girls, yup you will see a display of them at The Boys. The bakery items sold at The Boys are all baked in-house, right here at Gramma's. This is where the love starts, right here in this bakery. I work for a family owned business & am provided with great benefits. The one benefit I do not have~a gramma baking me treats. Which brings me to the topic of adoption. A message to the family who own these four incredible entities: Please adopt me. I found​ out about this place from another Yelpie and I am kicking myself for not finding it sooner. Ever since I have bought goodies from this place, I've told everyone about it. Oh. My. Gosh! Gramma's Bakery has apparently been around for quite some time now serving up cakes, pies, cookies, cannolis​, muffins, and breads. Whew! It took me 10 minutes to decide what I wanted because when I made a decision I found something else I liked too. Advice: Go here with a plan otherwise you will walk out with more sweets and treats than you can fit in your pantry. I'm so serious. I got a chocolate, powdered muffin and got my partner I carrot cake cupcake. I finally went to the register and the sweetest lady said it would be $3.85. WHAT?!?! $3.85? For $3.85 I could get a soft drink in Boca, maybe not..maybe a bottle of water. $3.85 for not one, but TWO DESSERTS. I'm still in awe of how incredibly affordable all the treats are. This is why you need a plan or you will buy everything! And when I got home, I ate them both. I'm sorry partner was crushed I ate his but they were both out of this world, deliciously good.
