Great croissant, worse espresso I have ever had. I am not sure it was an expresso, it was so bitter and had no frothy head at all. I should have asked for a cuban colada, the sugar would have cut the bitterness. That said, the croissants were fresh and buttery. Like all American croissant they were too sweet, but that was probably the closest to a French croissant I have had here. Definitely fresh and fluffy. read more

Needed some bread today. Not knowing what this place had to offer, we dropped by to check it out. I pass by this place everyday on my commute, but have always thought it was a commercial factory. Well, it is. It delivers bread to businesses. However, the front has a small store that sells to the public. They sell mostly loaves they will slice for you. My favorite bakery. I'm always in Delray and I'm happy to discover a conveniently located bakery on Congress ave where I can drop in and grab some treats or delicious baked bread but there's a small catch...CASH ONLY. Great prices and wide variety of options. I got the chocolate chip cookie (huge), a butter croissant (soft and fluffy didn't even need to toast it), the banana bread loaf (a huge hit with my family we loved every scrumptious bite), and some multi grain rolls (perfect warmed with some cream cheese or butter). read more

This is definitely a 'different' bakery experience. This is not your drop-in, sit-down, browse around experience of delicate treats, in any way. Old School Bakery's store is located inside of their warehouse, in a warehouse proper. You can't just pull up, you must circle their warehouse and find their specified customer parking area (many warning signs are a stressful put-off) and their random entrance door (not very well marked from the parking lot). Inside, the store part is loud and charmless, but also kind of exciting because you basically are granted access to an arm of a very busy industrial bakery. There are large shelves of rolls, breads and loaves. Smaller shelves on the counter house muffins, sweet breads (zucchini, banana, etc) croissants, danishes. A small tray of fresh items held 2 types of cookies, a brownie and a couple of other items. The bread items are in bags and the sweet items are in plastic wrap. Behind the counter, there are lot of breads of various freshness. There are fresh items, day-old items, 2 day old items and maybe even 3 day old. Signs are hand made (like, marker and poster board!) with prices decreasing based on freshness. I bought a variety of items, including a fresh loaf of whole wheat bread. The lady at the counter sliced it for me; thank you! I wish I knew what the ingredients are; it's good bread. It's a HUGE loaf! My family enjoyed the bag of whole wheat seeded cranberry twists ($2). I tried a chocolate chip cookie, which was good and a day-old chocolate croissant, which was better. The muffin I selected (the flavors are not labeled) was not the flavor I expected, some sort of bran with raisins I did not like. I visited late morning, so there is probably way more when it opens, but still only of a certain stock. I can see visiting here if one needed A LOT of bread or rolls on the cheap, especially for an event. Only cash is accepted; I didn't see an ATM. read more

Old school bakery was located in East Delray but got so large they moved to an industrial are just west of Delray north of Atlantic Avenue. They bake for most of the restaurants in the area. This is their bakery and outlet store. The prices are super cheap and the breads are great. read more

So I was looking for a place that made bread only and I came across this little gem. They are a wholesale bakery but have a small outlet kinda hidden in Congress near Atlantic Ave. I bought their blueberry bread and OMG. It melted in your mouth. Not to mention the pistachio biscotti! It had coconut in it as well. What a combination! The baguette tasted great with a little olive oil and mozzarella cheese. Let me tell you about the multi grain bread... yummy made for a great Avacado toast. This was my go to as well during hurricane prep because there was no line and plenty of bread!! Whole loaves of bread, sliced to order, bags of hamburger buns, hotdog buns, dinner rolls, muesli sticks, and more, often only $1 a bag. Some items are higher, but you decide where your freshness quotient meets your price point, and something will be there for you. On Saturday and Sunday, you'll find big trays of fresh-baked cinnamon rolls--each roll only, you guessed it, $1. Foccacia, baguettes, sourdough and pumpernickel--you can find all of your bread requirements met and more at this economical bakery outlet on Congress avenue across from Urdl's in Delray Beach. read more

The best bakery food in all of Florida. The apricot rugelach is good but didn't really taste any dried apricots. Is was like apricot jam with some raisins! Pistachio biscotti is excellent also. My husband loves the round individual whole grain rolls. The best, and I mean the best is the cranberry nut twists. Oh my God it is so delicious. I used to buy my cranberry bread in Publix but no more. I will be a regular customer from now on! read more

Smell the air when you get out of your car. It smells so yummy! (also torturous of you're on a low carb diet) You can find a lot of different breads and bakery goods at a low cost. If you're not gonna eat it right away, stick it in the freezer. I drove by this place for years before I actually went in. Be sure to check it out. read more

I was searching for whole wheat multigrain bread which is an impossible find in Florida because the grocery bakeries base it on white bread. I am cooking for a diabetic and whole grains are a must for sugar control. I found this place on Yelp and the breads are excellent. Every week I buy a loaf of whole wheat multigrain and pumpernickel with raisins. The bread is sliced on the thick side and makes wonderful sandwiches. Also, they turn some of the pumpernickel raisin into crisp chips with cinnamon sugar that are delicious. They have cookies and pastries that I have not tried but look very good. Definitely worth the trip to this out-of-way commercial area to buy their baked goods. read more

Where are the $1 items? They didn't have any when we went today. I was motivated to get in here now that I know they've extended their daily hours until 3:30pm. They previously closed at 11am, which really limited the ability to get in here. Ok, back to the $1 items. Either they've raised their prices, or they were just out of them. When my husband and I stopped by today, there were a plethora of items on the counter ranging from $1.50 cookies to $4 cheesy crisps, and muffins/pastries prices between $3 and $4. No $1 items existed. What I love about this place is that 90% of the breads are preservative-free. They've got an area of "Commercial Breads" that all have preservatives in them, but the majority of the offerings do not. They offer a ton of same-day, 1-day, and 2-day old loaves of breads. We purchased a 2-day old loaf of multi-grain bread for $3. Still a good deal, but I was really hoping for the bargain people were talking about. There are a LOT of loaves of bread available, but they're all behind the counter, so you must ask the staff to tell you about them and bring them to the counter so you can touch/feel them. Probably our favorite item we purchased today were the pretzel sticks. My husband is a snob when it comes to pretzel sticks and he pretty much measures all pretzels against the fantastic pretzels we've had in Germany. These are JUST AS GOOD as those we ate in Germany! They take cash only, and it's definitely worth a visit here, but try not to be disappointed when the 1-day old loaf of bread you want costs $5. read more

What a disappointment. I wanted to try some of their baked goods at 3:10 and the counter person had already closed out her register 20 minutes early and didn't want to break my 20. And than she gave me attitude for not having anything smaller. I am glad there are many other bakeries in the area to patronize. read more

This is a new and marvelous secret place: OSB makes breads for a lot of commercial establishments as well as its own two special places, the hideaway shoppe on Atlantic Avenue near the bridge( presided over by the indefatigable Tess who, rumor has it, was long ago the nanny for the owners in New Jersey); and the cafe at the superb Delray library, which deserves its own revue. So anyhow, they have Now Opened this Outlet, where the leftover bread is 99 cents. This is a bargain around which I am having trouble getting my head. THE BREAD, THE MAGNIFICENT OLD SCHOOL BREAD, IS 99 CENTS. If you have ever wanted white sandwich bread that is firm yet moist, cut rather thin and ready to hold onto whatever you put into/onto it, a loaf is 99 cents. If you want seven grain bread that is so rich it keeps for two weeks in the freezer and tastes almost as good the second week as it did the second day, it is 99 cents. That said, there is nothing like buying Old School Bakery bread at the regular price ($4.00+ a loaf) and eating it as fresh as you can get it, but listen again: this bread is 99 cents. When they were located back on the corner of NE 1st and Atlantic (where the Cabana restaurant now sits) the food was exceptionally better than what is now being offered at the very small eatery near the Intra-coastal... (and they were allot more cordial at the old location). read more

Their multi grain bread is wonderful and makes the best toast I have ever had. Hard to stop with just one piece! We have been buying bread here since they were on Atlantic Ave. I wish they had stayed in that location because the Congress location is much more difficult to get to. Regardless, it is worth the drive. read more

What a huge disappointment this bakery is. I love the bread at Henry's restaurant in Boca. Over the yrs, I've asked where they purchase their bread...its to die for. I finally got the waiter to give me the name of where I could purchase the bread. Well today I went to the bakery. Boy, was I surprised when I asked the woman about the bread they sell to Henry's. She gave me this multigrain bread which was nowhere near the bread I eat there. This will be my first and last time coming here. The bread is good but just not what I had expected. read more
