Margarita

Nothing like a happy hour margarita with some chips and salsa after a long day ! Nice waitstaff and love the artwork throughout the restaurant!

Continuously strong drinks and great food and service. I have been coming here for years and it never disappoints!

Chori-Pollo

Decent Mexican chain. Got chori pollo, a popular chicken dish on their menu. Includes rice and refried beans. I substituted tortilla with salad. The highlight of this place is its decent Mexican food coupled with generous portions. It is operated and run by people of Mexican decent - servers, managers, etc. Menu is expansive with multiple categories- fajitas, platters, burritos, enchiladas, salads, etc - and within each there are recommendations that are highlighted. Price was upwards 15$-$20 but again portions are generous. Many servers were of Mexican descent, some with little English fluency. It was a bit hard to communicate. Ambiance was nothing fancy, Mexican decor, exactly how you would expect. Come if hungry or if wanting leftovers.

I stopped here last Friday night with my husband. Food and service were great. Classic Mexican restaurant, they give you chips and salsa when you sit down, they used to have a white ranch like sauce also which you can still ask for. They've updated their menu, to include birria tacos and some other fun options. I ordered the red queso tacos with carnitas and they were delicious.

Beef and chicken fajitas

Fajitas (chicken and steak) were delicious! Best I've had in a long time, also no skimping on the chicken and beef. Service was also very good. The happy hour margarita was okay, not much taste and kind of watery. Definitely will be back!

Chips & salsa (light hint of spice) given while overlooking the menu. The salsa was so good, i ate half my plate then finished off the chips & salsa! My waiter was was nice & attentative. He gave me just enough time to look at the menu & decide. There is A LOT on the menu. He said a couple spanish phrases which i understood because i understand basic Spanish. I fear for him coming across an ignorant "this is America. Speak english!" type of person. The staff speak Spanish to one another. After I was given my bill, he took the order of the table behind me & didn't speak spanish to them so maybe he just thought i understood. My food came out SUPER fast. I went to the restroom. Came back. Ate a chip & my plate was placed in front of me. Unfortunately, he set the bill down w/o me asking. I was debating sopapillas bc i'd never had that.

Happy cinco de mayo!!!! Super busy and served super fast! This family owned restaurant really knows what they're doing and how to handle fast paced dining! The aroma inside is AMAZING I cannot believe I've never discovered this place until cinco de mayo I feel embarrassed lol! Now THE FOOD oh my days YALL. THE FOOD IS AMAZING. LITERALLY THE BEST MEXICAN FOOD IVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. THIS IS THE DEFINITION ON TRADITIONAL FOOD. The green verde sauce was so tasty and it had the kick to it where it made my eyes water and mouth burn but it was so good I was scarfing it down with no complaints. We had a table of 5 right before closing and they still served us and gave us the freshest tasting everything! My experience here was out of this world. Everyone was so friendly and I have nothing bad to say about the whole thing. The only thing I would say is odd is the one bathroom stall in the womans restroom lol. IT WAS CLEAN but we were all waiting frantically to use the pot. BUT THATS NOT A REASON NOT GO. YALL NEED TO GO HERE AND TRY THEIR FOOD! The pricing is unbeatable and the extra cilantro had us all cracking up boy had a grass taco

Really good if burrito with steak! The green chili is a great addition if your a spicy person. Complimentary chips with the burrito so highly recommend to fill you up for sure.

Burrito Azteca

I have been here a couple times and its always a wonderful experience. Complimentary chips and salsa, friendly waiters, authentic Mexican decor and an extensive menu. They have so many kinds of drinks, including a full bar. Plus, any kind of Mexican food you want, you can get! I usually get the shrimp quesadilla, which has cheese, shrimp, and caramelized onion inside and sour cream, guacamole, tomatoes and lettuce on the side. It's always served piping hot and it's a decent serving. I never leave hungry. My boyfriend always gets the "Burrito Azteca" which has basically every kind of meat stuffed in a burrito topped with more meat and pineapple. He has been asking to go back every day since. It's been 2 weeks and he's asked for this burrito every day and he constantly sends me pictures of it. He's obsessed. It's a wonderful place with plenty of options. You can't leave hungry. Plus, if you're into meat go for the super-meat-burrito-extravaganza!

Very very great food and service. I normally go to the Groesbeck one but the last 2 times I ordered the Burrito Fajita they've brought me the wrong- but still delicious- meal. Definitely sticking with the Chicken Chimichanga from now on. This location has never failed at getting anything wrong.

Chorizo-Steak
Lily N.

I'm not sure where to start because this is the BEST Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. I ordered the chorizo-steak which came with three flour tortillas and I swear I ate the whole thing and wanted to come back an hour later. The steak was so tender and fall off the fork, it made for the perfect meat for my tacos. The chorizo and beans with the steak made the tacos even better. I seriously cannot wait to come back and grab this again. I am drooling just thinking about it.

Always a delicious time! Margs are good. Typical Mexican fair, but, they put their twist on it. Chicken chimigangas are great!

Excellent hole in the wall taco joint that splits its retail space as half restaurant and half…read moregrocery. The restaurant itself has a relatively small foot print where the tables are close together and where there are no frills about this place and definately a tad on the rustic side. Facility aside, this place makes some excellent authentic Mexican street tacos where my El Pastor and Asada taco's were well made, PACKED with meat (no scrimping here) and oh so tasty. Service is quite quick where once seated you get your food within a few minutes making this an excellent spot if you are on the run and looking for a good meal on the quick. Prices are cheap in my opinion where my three taco's and a coke came to just $12. NICE! Two things to note here is that the chips and salsa are not gratis but come at an extra cost and follow up once you get food was non existent in my case. Chips and salsa was not a big deal to me but lack of follow up prevented this business from getting a fifth star. Overall and my minor gripes aside, if you are fan of really good Mexican street taco's than this is a must visit if you are in the area! I wish this business was closer to my home in West Bloomfield as I would be a regular here for sure!

It used to be they provide chips and salsa as appetizers but since inflation is up ... you have to order separately. I've tried other taco places and I keep wondering why we always come back here ... maybe because it is more convenient. Ordered chorizo soft tacos with cheese and chicken enchiladas ... no substitute... flavor is bland so just add the red or green hot sauce. Kind of rude to hear the workers speak in Spanish. I will have to go somewhere else. Food is bland and the service today is terrible.

Felt like some Mexican food tonight and decided to try a newer restaurant we had not been to…read morebefore. Well they did not disappoint. The Mango Mojito I ordered was very refreshing and tasty. The chips and salsa were very good too. I ordered the Carne Asada meal with a pork tamale alacarte. It was so delicious with nice portions. Our server couldn't have been nicer or more attentive. The ambiance was nice with lively Mexican music playing in the background. Plus the restaurant and bathroom was very clean. I will definitely be going back.

Takes about 12-15 minutes to get seated, despite more than half of the place is empty…read more Short staffed. One bartender, maybe two wait staff and no hostess. Ordered Puebla, tinga style pizza, chicken fajitas, guacamole, tostada with chicken tinga. $53.47 Chips and salsa is out. Chips aren't great at all, almost taste stale even. House salsa has some heat. At least I won't eat too many corn chips, since they aren't so good here. They have a red and green salsa in a bottle, but not enough for the seated tables. Service is subpar for sure, need more help. Drinks are long empty. My husband wants more chips and salsa, takes a while to get anything and get attention too. Food takes about 17 minutes to come out. The corn tortilla isn't very good. Ate a couple of small bites of the Puebla, not for me. Doesn't have that fresh chewiness. The Tinga meat is okay. The tostada is crispy, but overall is was just okay. The pizza is different and definitely on a flat bread. It's okay. The mole, tinga and pickled onion doesn't do it for me. The guacamole is so-so, average as far as taste. The bottle of red salsa is spicier. The bottle of green salsa is an avocado base. Both mixed with the house salsa in the ramekin together aren't too bad. Food was quite average, didn't feel compelled to stuff myself, so that's a positive. Get the staff some help! No one should have to wait for a table here or more than 5-10 minutes for their food either.

I've read reviews complaining about how this isn't Authentic Mexican Food. Do you know what I care…read moreabout when I go to a restaurant? I care if the food is good. If I want authentic Mexican food, I'll go to Mexican Town. Camellia's has good food, and I was happy I stopped here to eat. First, I'll start with maybe the most inauthentic item first. The chorizo and ground beef "sliders" were actually 2 burgers in regular-sized buns. Each had maybe 3 ounces of meat, and they were good, Not "I can feel the breeze off the beach in Cancun" good, but it was good with a smear of pretty authentic-tasting guacamole. We ordered chips with guacamole as a starter, and these seem to be pretty darned authentic chips. They were sturdy, with a terrific corn flavor, and a nice crunch to them. Definitely not Tostitos. The large amount of not-authentic-Mexican fries served with the "sliders" were excellent skin-on shoestring fries. My wife ordered chicken and steak fajitas. She didn't like the steak, saying it was too chewy. I have to say, it was maybe a tough cut of steak, and it was a bit overly salty, but I liked the flavor. The chicken was good, with a bit less seasoning. The rest consisted of all the things you expect in fajitas, and all of it was solid. I liked the drink selection. There were actually more Mexican beers here than I have ever seen in Mexican Town. Negra Modelo on tap? I wish I were able to get that when I go downtown, but I'm glad I was able to get a large glass for a reasonable price here. There were a lot of different flavors of margaritas. My wife loved the peach margarita she ordered. There were two waitresses, and a mostly full house, and they were able to keep up with the demand. The price was reasonable for the large portions of food, too. I'm not giving up on the delicious food in Mexican town, but I definitely wouldn't mind coming back here again for something less authentic, but still tasty.

I have been a loyal customer for over 20 years. After last night's experience I will think twice…read moreabout returning. I wasn't too hungry and ordered an a la carte veggie burrito for $3.99. My partner ordered a full meal. The server did not tell me that there would be an EXTRA charge of $2.99 to make my a la carte burrito a veggie one (a chicken or beef one would be $3.99). What a surprise when getting the bill. And all the veggie burrito consisted of was onions, green peppers, tomatoes and lettuce. Why would this cost extra? Ridiculous. Between surprises like this and having to pay for chips and salsa, it's a wonder this place stays in business. It's a shame as the food is good.
