Very good Mexican restaurant. On this visit I ordered an El Pastor (Pork) and a Carne Asada (steak) street Taco that were very authentic to what you would find in Mexico. Both taco's were well made with soft corn tortillas, protein of choice, Cilantro , onions, seasoning and a fresh slice of lime. Meats were quite tender, well cooked and very flavorful. Aside from the taco's, I had the house gratis chips and Salsa, which were excellent and a house margarita that was on special that day. The Margarita was quite large and tasty albeit I think it was a tad shy on the tequila where after drinking two of them I really wasn't feeling any impact from the drinks. The is a small gripe as I find this to be a common practice with many Mexican restaurants in the area and am always pleasantly surprised when I find a local restaurant that has a Margarita with a bit of of punch. Oh well.... Relative to staff and facility, both are outstanding where the staff was super friendly with great follow up and the facility was very bright/clean with a nice Mexican decor that added a lot to the dining experience. Cleary a dual strength for this business. Overall this is a great choice for Mexican food if you are in the area and should be checked out if you are a fan of good Mexican food. read more

Traveling for business and wanted to grab some local Mexican. A little disappointed there was no bartender and the margaritas were pre-mixed. The service was good and the margaritas were as well. Chips and salsa were pretty good. Got the burrito with grilled chicken. It was good, but not overly filled with chicken. There was just one TV at the bar and no sports on...just some random channel. This place has mixed reviews but I normally like it! The chips and salsa are solid. I also liked the cheese quesadilla in the past. This trip I ordered the birria quesadilla and unfortunately the meat was dry. I got the surf and turf with the shrimp plate and steak. The shrimp and the sides were tasty but my steak was super over cooked. Not enjoyable at all. My family got the chimichangas, a burrito, and the chorizo cooked in the big rock bowl, I can't remember the name. They all enjoyed their meals. Very colorful. Would not return. Came with a friend for Mexican food, so this review is both pescatarian and non-pescatarian friendly. Service: quick and friendly. Nothing over the top. Pleasant. Food: so I ordered my go to safe choice, shrimp fajitas. Came out sizzling hot, as they should. Shrimp and peppers were not over cooked. Solid. It went downhill from there. I wish they had fresh tortillas but they were warm so that's good. The rice, and refried beans had little to no flavor. They have the smallest dab of Guac on the side. It was nothing enticing. Portion size was solid but I've had better fajitas for the price. My friend had this sizzling meat dish with shrimp, chorizo, and some other meat. When you walk up there is an electronic board outside that tells you when and what days the specials are on. When I visited the special was Friday and Saturday starting at 9pm, 50% Margaritas. Unfortunately, I was very early, we stopped for early cocktails, so we paid $11 for the JUMBO Margarita, was delicious! They have many flavors to choose from. I loved the Salsa, it's salty enough for me and I wanted to buy some to take home! I ordered an Enchilada, I thought she said chicken, but I believe it was beef. I really don't know, but the tortilla, and sauce was good, the inside was just okay. My friend got Tacos and it was okay. This was only my second time here in the last 5 years, so I need to go back to try more. The bar area looked like a Winner! The next time I go, I will be at the bar and will try a couple of appetizers. Although I was. Not overwhelmed by the flavors of my Entrée , the service was great, they were very attentive, especially ANTONIO! Eh. Just okay, but to be fair some friends and I got DoorDash from them tonight and it had to survive a 15-minute car ride. I ordered the beef tostada, a chicken taco, and a beef taco. I asked for no lettuce with the beef taco and they included lettuce. The beef taco didn't have much flavor at all, but my friends have ordered from them before and said usually it tastes better. Tostadas are supposed to be hard and the tortilla was floppy, but I'm going to blame it on the car ride. The best things we ordered were my chicken taco, which was very flavorful, and the free salsa and tortilla chips they included - I ended up using the tortilla chips to scoop up the meat from the tostada. Normally the food is good, and any special requests are taken care of, but not tonight. I ordered the Azteca burrito with no pineapple (as I am allergic to pineapple) and it was loaded with it, it looked like extra was put on. So needless to say I had no dinner. Also my son requested no beans with his meal and it also was loaded with them. This was our go to for Mexican food but that ends now. This place is low on my list but everywhere else was closed so I was forced to try this place and it's for sure a one time thing. First things first they got my order completely wrong. Like literally half the things I ordered were no where to be found. The food itself is basic at best and has no distinct flavor or taste. It's a step above Taco Bell. The people that work here are perfectly cool. I'm too busy to make a trip back to the store so I tried what they gave me a burrito, chicken tacos and an enchilada (which I've never ordered before in my life). The food is basic and the only thing I can say is it'll do in a pinch but not my place at all. The restaurant feels comfortable and authentic. The walls and booths are colorful. My daughter loved it because she likes the Frida Kahlo look. She took a Snapchat of the booth we were in. The music was on point for me. It's was early Spanish 2000s. Honestly, I only needed a margarita, chips/salsa and music. The service was excellent and attentive. First time trying this spot. On a Saturday evening we had no trouble getting a table. Service was quick and everyone was friendly. There were a couple larger groups and several families with kids dining. The menu consists of numerous combos and the usual Mexican fare. Nice selection of desserts too. Prices are reasonable. Our meals were all good, and the portions plentiful. We definitely have leftovers for tomorrow. This is now one of our favorite Mexican restaurants in the area. When I walked into Grand Azteca, I was excited because the decor was so cute and inviting, and the reviews were so positive. Unfortunately, my expectations were too high. The chips and salsa were really good. I particularly liked the white sauce they served. The prices were reasonable, but the food was WAAAYYYY too salty. I got the lunch special #5, which was a burrito and a taco served with rice. It tasted like they dumped the salt shaker in it. I was also excited when I saw fried ice cream on the menu, so I indulged in that. Disappointingly, it was not fried ice cream at all. Rather, it was a ball of vanilla ice cream served in a greasy taco-like bowl with a mound of aerosol whipped cream, a drizzle of chocolate sauce and confetti sprinkles on it. It looked pretty, but it was NOT truly fried ice cream, which, traditionally, is a ball of ice cream rolled in a dough, fried quickly & then rolled in cinnamon & sugar, with chocolate sauce & a bit of whipped cream on top. With Alchile in the same plaza and other Mexican restaurants nearby, I'm not sure that another visit is on the horizon. read more

See the pictures below? This is what Birria looks like. Birria, is nothing more than roasted beef. It is a beef that is cooked until it's nice and tender. It has a light season and not spicy. When I ordered my three Birria corn tacos. They came out on cold tortillas with no flavor. No bowl of dipping sauce. 2 tiny slivers of lime. I asked the server if this was Birria? He told me "this is my food! I'm Mexican from Mexico!" It was at that point that I realized I could not argue with someone who is not educated. I showed him the pictures below to which I pulled from Google. He wanted to tell me that he was correct and I should talk to his manager. I told him that I did not need to speak to his manager as I will not be eating here again. Yes, Birria as he put it is a type of meat yet it is also served in a way that is completely different such as the El Pastor. The difference is which tortilla is dipped into a tomato sauce that's full of seasoning placed onto a flat top where it is heated up the meat then this place into the taco and a small bowl of the seasoned tomato sauce is provided to the guest to dip the taco into. Instead of arguing with the guest he should've just accommodated accordingly. From the very beginning of our experience we noticed that there was a difference in the menus in the corn chips in the salsa. We believe who ever is owning or running this establishment has taken the alternative route to cut corners and provide a cheaper quality of food that is not living up to the standards of what it used to be. We will no longer be visiting this establishment and have chosen to go to another city where we can get "real Mexican food." read more

The food was authentic. Exactly what I've been looking for since I moved here from El Paso TX. my test is always the refried beans and either a Chile relleno or tamale. I got the chicken tacos with beans and rice and a Chile relleno with just cheese on top. They were both the best I've had here. No calling some concoction a Chile relleno as I look at it going what the heck is that! Also, the chips and salsa were included, YES, another test passed. I had a very disturbing experience at this restaurant. The waiter kept leaning into the table to get close to me. As he set my plate down the table he brushed against my breasts. Hands down the best place to eat Mexican food. I can't really speak to it's authenticity but thg quality is always on point. Some must try menu items include the fajita burritos, chimichangas, and fried icecream. To be honest, I'm addicted to their white salsa and have purchased large to go containers of it on occasion in the past. When I'm eating keto this place is actually a surprising choice and it's not really because they have a ton of options ( they have a few) but because they are so accommodating with adjustments. I've been to other locations of Grand Azteca, but this experience was by far the best one yet. I came here with a coworker on lunch. The place wasn't busy when we got there, however it started to fill up as we were leaving. The food portions are huge! They do have a lunch menu, but not a lot of options for vegetarians. So i ordered the shrimp tacos on the regular menu. It came with a side of rice or beans (I ordered black beans) and the side was huge!!!!! A whole plate full! And let me tell you, those black beans were the best black beans I've ever had!!!! Back to the shrimp tacos.... there was 3 of them, and a ton of shrimp! Definitely did not skimp on anything. It also comes with a side of thicker salsa (which is pretty spicy). The food was absolutely delicious, i definitely ordered the right thing! My coworker ordered cheese enchiladas, which look fantastic too! Our service was super fast and friendly. The only complaint i had about this place was that the music was SO loud, and the place wasn't that busy, so it was unnecessary for it to be that loud. Kinda gave me a headache. I came here on a whim, looking to get some good Mexican food. Walking in, the place was really super colorful, with plenty of seating about. I was seated by the hostess and reviewed the menu. Overall, the menu is pretty intense, with tons of options and meals. I couldn't even look at it all! I didn't want anything huge, so I went with three tacos a la cart. I also got a beverage as well to wash it all down with. While I was waiting for my food, I got free chips and salsa! I also got a white dip, but I didn't care for it all that much. The red salsa was good, but didn't have a lot of kick to it. I liked it none the less. While I was waiting for my food, I noticed that the place had some wear and tear to it. The carpeting on the floor seemed to be coming apart, and the place in parts seemed a bit tired. Nothing tragic, but definitely noticeable. The service was good until the end. I had to wait for my bill, and wait even longer to pay it. I waited so long, I actually got up and walked around the place looking for someone (anyone, really) to take my card and run it. Eventually, a really cute guy came over to my table and ran it. About time! Overall, it was decent here. I loved my beef tacos because they were delicious. I am pescatarian and only eat fish, (Not chicken, beef, or pork) when ordering a shrimp burrito, after eating more than a few bites, I made the realization that there was a funny taste to it which ended up being beef. For someone who hasn't eaten real meat other than fish for the last decade. This was extremely upsetting and when I called calm and nicely while explaining that I've been a loyal customer for years, they only said that it's not their fault and they have "new staff". It was "meh. Ok". From the moment we walked in and saw the rip in the carpet, I knew we weren't in for the best Mexican we ever had in MI. It just felt dark and not the cleanest. The margaritas tasted like watered-down sugar-water. The chips and salsa weren't bad, but feel the tacos were rather salty. Tamales were dry. They have a great menu with lots to chose from, but the prices were a bit high relatively speaking.
