Do be careful, you can fall down, its a real spot, and not Disneyland, so just watch your step We went right after a few days of rain. The area is a bit remote and cell phone coverage is spotty I suggest wearing comfy shoes. Ladies, if you want to wear high heels, bring them in a backpack and change out when you are ready to take photos, your feet will thank you. The path to the bend has a gentle decline on tbe way there and an incline on the way back. Its not paved, but it is well maintained. The day before our tour, Julia called to let us know strong headwinds were expected and asked if we wanted to adjust our time. We already had a different morning tour scheduled, and they were incredibly accommodating with our plans. At the launch site, we met our guide Logan, and we were lucky that it was just our family of four on this tour. Husband and I wore aqua shoes and my daughters opted to wear their Birkenstock sandals and go barefoot, which was fine if you're okay with getting red mud on them. Logan was friendly, patient, and extremely knowledgeable. I was a bit nervous since I'm a beginner kayaker, but he let us move at our own pace. It ended up being a great workout while still feeling peaceful and relaxing. The scenery was absolutely stunning. The canyon was quiet, beautiful, and not crowded at all. We paddled across Lake Powell and into the canyon, and the cool lake water felt amazing in the warm end-of-March weather (mid-80s). They provided life jackets, offered bottled water, and Logan even took photos of us both on the water and at the end of the canyon, which we really appreciated. John left much time for us to take cool pictures and was a wealth of knowledge. He made sure to engage with each person in the group and was successful in getting the more shy individuals to step out of their comfort zones. John and Sid (the other employee) made this tour worth it. They provided awesome recommendations for things in the area and also future outdoor related activities in the U.S. Be sure to pack enough water. Remember you are in a kayak and your items will likely get soaked. Luckily they provide one water proof bag per kayak which can hold your phone and camera. If you feel the need to pack more, I recommend that you bring your own waterproof back pack. I opted to go barefoot in the kayak and wear shoes on the hike. You will have to walk through water to get on and off of the boat. Do not let your size and fitness level deter you from this tour. She said yes but the benefit of using them was they carried the boards down and up a steep hill. We were there on Saturday April 25th. So we rented two paddle boards and she warned us about the winds. It was like $155. She was nice so we went for it. We get to the site and are waiting around. They haven't even taken the boards off the truck, but we were fine waiting. Layla finally made it up the HILL and had 2 boards taken off the truck and laid on the ground. I asked if any of the MANY men who were there and carrying kayaks down, was going to carry them down. She said no, you carry them. And that hill was STEEP. I figured meh, okay. I was annoyed since we were told they'd be ready for us at the bottom. Layla carried my paddle. Once I saw the hill, I was even more annoyed but I already paid $155 plus $30 entry to the lake. When we got to the bottom, she mentioned when we got back I had to carry it back up. I said I'm not doing that. lol. She held my leash so I could climb on my board. Not an easy task where we were. The paddle boarding was rough but we knew that, the girls at the office warned us. 5 miles later we returned. I STRUGGLED getting off the board and trying to haul it up by myself, my body was shaking and I was visibly exhausted. A young man who worked for this place, WATCHED me struggle. Asked how it was, I said it sucked. He mentioned me carrying the board up that steep hill, while I was shaking from exhaustion and out of breath, and I said "I'm not doing that" and he replied with "why is it heavy?" I did carry my life jacket and paddle...but after that comment I REALLY didn't want to. Layla gave me a water at the top and said to take a breath, I was breathing very heavy. I'd say don't rent paddle boards. You will have to carry them up and down the hill and will get no assistance getting off the board either. But they did carry the kayaks and help those people who also paid like we did, in and out of the kayaks. So maybe rent those and not the paddle boards.

When visiting Antelope Canyon, you have the choice of either Upper Canyon or Lower Canyon. Upper Canyon is the more popular and famous option as it's where the light beams occur at different times of the day. Lower Canyon is where you get deeper into the canyon. No matter which canyon you choose, make sure to book your reservations weeks in advance. If you don't, especially if it's a weekend or peak season, you'll likely be out of luck. We visited on a Sunday morning at 8:00 a.m. Antelope Canyon has become one of the most popular attractions in Arizona thanks to TikTok and Instagram. In many ways, it's becoming the new "Grand Canyon." Even if you're not big on social media, if you're a certain age, you know Antelope Canyon. Why? It was the standard wallpaper on Microsoft Windows for many years. And yes, the pictures are just as mesmerizing as reality at this natural wonder. The incredible formations inside this canyon were caused by many years of flooding and weather elements such as wind. You'll spend about 45 minutes in the canyon taking it the beauty of the canyon which is located on the Navajo Nation reservation. You'll be taking a lot of pictures of yourself, of the canyon, and listening to what your tour guide shares with you about the history of the canyon. It's one of those places that everyone should visit at some point in their lives if they're able. It's that incredible. It takes some planning and it's not cheap, but it's well worth it.

These gorgeous canyons were naturally carved over thousands of years by the combined forces of the eroding water via flash floods and the strong winds interacting with the sandstone. Hence behold these spectacular smooth natural flowing, swirling and narrow rock formations as our stellar guide and the others educated us via words, music and lyrics. The 70 minute tour in the afternoon( & earlier one around 10 am) is timed perfectly to coincide with the proper angles and intensity of the sun's rays as we made our way down to this wonderland. It was a lovely and breezy 80 degrees and maybe 70 ish when we got to the bottom. Please wear comfy sneakers. This beauty is in Page, Arizona just 271 miles north of Phoenix. I emphasis again this is a once in a lifetime event.

I couldn't really explore the hanging garden area as I realized that there was a strong buzzing noise that turned out to be swarming bees in a tree nearby! Oh well, I got to enjoy the cooler air for a moment before fleeing. Note: There are no bathrooms at the trailhead or anywhere near the parking lot. After years of trying to apply for a permit, our group finally got picked! Highly recommend hiking…read moreat least once. I wouldn't do it again though, mainly because of how hard it was to get a permit. We visited in April and the weather was fantastic. It was actually freezing in the morning but as the sun rose, it warmed up to the point where we would sweat a little when hiking. I can't even imagine doing this in the summer but if you win the lottery then, make sure everyone brings plenty of water. To get to the trailhead, I'd recommend having a high-clearance vehicle, especially if it just recently rained. The road off of the freeway becomes unpaved and there are some ditches that can be flooded. Download an offline map of the trail and area for when you lose service. It gets spotty but you'll find reception every now and then. At the beginning, there are a couple of vault toilets. The trail itself is difficult to follow without an offline map. There's only a handful of signs pointing in a general direction. And until the Wave, we were pretty much the only people around. Considering only about 60 people are approved each day, it wasn't surprising, and honestly, kind of nice to be alone in nature. The Wave was everything we hoped for. We had clear, blue skies and that contrast with the red and orange rocks was beautiful. It looked exactly like the Windows background! There was even a pond further up with a ton of tadpoles. Besides the Wave, there's other neat waypoints to stop by but because we were tired, we didn't try for many of them. The only one we went out of our way for was the dinosaur tracks but it was anti-climatic. They just looked like larger chicken feet prints. Despite this hike being only about 6 miles round trip, it took pretty much the entire day. We stopped a lot to take pictures but also the landscape was difficult to hike. Lots of sand to walk through and lots of weird inclines to walk across, which kept our feet, knees, and legs at weird angles. There might have been easier pathways but as I said earlier, there's no clear indications of a trail. There was also a BLM worker at the Wave asking for the permit holders. If you hike without one and get caught, you'll get slapped with some steep fines. Drones are also not allowed!

It's easier if you have less people (like two people). Anyways, the orientation the day before was useful for weather and road conditions. The hike wasn't too bad, can be a bit steep in some parts but for the most part, not too much incline. It's moderate for the novice hiker but easy for an experienced hiker. For experienced hikers, probably can get to the Wave in 1 to 1.5 hours. For the inexperienced, it might take 2.5 to 3 hours. Either way, if you're planning to spend a lot of time at the Wave (some people take 2-3 hours for their extensive Instagram photoshoots haha), definitely go there early and spend all day there. I would definitely come back if I win the lottery!

Lake Powell is a reservoir created by the flooding of Glen Canyon by the Glen Canyon Dam…read more Unfortunately due to the southwestern North American megadrought that began in 2000, the water levels are lower than usual, and you can see the bathtub ring effect on the rocks. I visited Lone Rock Beach, however it's no longer alone, since the receding water levels has connected the rock stack the the beach itself. The paved road ends and turns into a quite sandy surface, so be careful and use your best judgement, especially since there is no guaranteed towing service if you get stuck in the sand. Beautiful place.

There are several different ways you can check out Lake Powell. One option is to see it from afar from atop cliffs and overlooks in Glen Canyon Park. This provides scenic views of the beautiful lake. Another option is to actually see the Lake up close and personal. There are several spots where you can do that. I decided to make the short drive into Utah to see it from Lone Rock. You have to drive through some rocky/sandy terrain so me careful to follow the path (unless you're in a car with four-wheel drive). Once you get closer to the beach, you will reach a sandy area. Do not drive through it. You'll see cars and RVs parked right where the terrain changes for good reason. Unless you have the proper vehicle, you'll get stuck in the sand. I saw it happen. That will ruin your day. There are even warning signs about this. Once we parked our rental, we walked to the shoreline. I dipped my toes in the water, a bit cold but pleasant. It's a great place to just relax and take in the beauty of your surroundings. The Lake is also a popular spot to rent boats. While I didn't do this, it is a popular activity. A must-visit while in Page!

We reserved a 17-foot speedboat to be delivered to the dock. We arrived at Carls Marine Rental in…read morethe morning and spoke with Elijah, who was very friendly and helpful. He informed us that the boat would be delivered by 9:00 a.m., so we left for the marina. Unfortunately, the delivery driver, Ellory, arrived about 20 minutes late. While both Elijah and Ellory were courteous and pleasant to work with, we were extremely disappointed with the condition of the boat. The boat appeared very old and poorly maintained. The speedometer only worked intermittently, the steering wheel was sticky, and the steering alignment was noticeably off. Based on the condition of the boat, it did not meet our expectations. Although the staff members we interacted with were kind and professional, the quality and maintenance of the boat were disappointing. In the future, I would recommend inspecting the boat in person before heading to the marina.

Major safety concerns! The "owner's son," Tim rented us a boat that knowingly did not run properly…read more We were unable to idle the boat without it stalling out. At one point we were in the middle of the lake and the boat stalled out and would not start back up. After waiting 10 minutes we were able to start the boat up and get it back to the marina. Besides the boat not running properly, it was also filthy, ripped seats, screws on the ground, and equipment did not work. The next day we rented a boat from Stateline Marina and they were great. They went over safety and wind conditions. Their boat was clean and ran without any issues. And on top of that the price was better than Carl's Marine. They also were not surprised by our experience with Carl's Marine. They said they have heard may scary stories from customers who stated the boats were not running properly and even sinking! I'm just grateful we, especially our 9 and 3 year old children, made it back safely. I don't understand how this business is allowed to rent boats. Note: this business is not BBB accredited.

I'd wanted to visit the…read moreHoover dam near Las Vegas but it was too far off the path I was taking so I was glad I ended up at a big dam somewhere else anyway! There is a lookout point that is easy to reach in Page, about a 10-15 min drive away from the main shopping areas (like where the big Safeway is). There's plenty of free parking, and you can take a short (couple minutes) walk to the little overlook. There are some big rocks you can climb over to get a more direct view, or a little pagoda shaded area that directly faces the dam. I liked the view from the rocks because you can see the whole river too facing the dam and the bridge. It certainly does make you feel small, and is a testament to the best work of civil engineering!
