Ordered a turkey and chutney after taking a bite of my sandwich I realized they left the parchment paper on my cheese within the sandwich. Not fun‍

Shrinkflation! At least 30% smaller than they have been for years.

We frequent Grand Central... quite often picking up their ginger scones on Saturday mornings. What a disappointment to go this Sat. 11/16/22 and suddenly they are at least 30% smaller for the same price! I called when we got home and really took notice and was told they have a new head baker. Shrinkflation to the max!

Loved our stop here this morning! We ordered coffee and bacon quiches, which were wildly delicious!!! Also got a blueberry muffin, because I couldn't not get something else. The staff was friendly and accommodating:) Highly recommend!

I really do enjoy Grand Central but pricing is sometimes a bit out of my reach. So it's not a regular destination, it's more of a special occasion kind of thing for me. Food is always good, service is always good. No real argument, sometimes the lines are a bit long but that's nothing that really interrupts my enjoyment of the place.

Notice all the oil on the paper. Yuck.

I ordered the happy goat sandwich, it was described as chèvre, mayo and chimichurri, and "seasonal local vegetables". What I got was a thin swipe of goat cheese, a piece of lettuce and a pile of heavily dressed fennel on a sandwich. I expected a veggie sandwich. Who would want to eat that? If you can't source any local vegetables, take it off the menu. It was a $13 sandwich before tip I can't believe they served that. Yuck.

I ordered a Turkey Deluxe sandwich with tomato and got home to discover my sandwich didn't have any turkey. I live 45 min away so I unfortunately couldn't go back. Still yummy but I was definitely bummed.

Not as good as the one on Hawthorne; decent customer service but forgot our sandwich, had to remake part of it, then burned the most bland biscuit sandwich of my life . Grand central is normally a treat for us.... Womp Womp

Stopped by for some morning nourishment What I ate: - Donut muffin: This was great! Basically a fried muffin, dipped in cinnamon sugar. Definitely hit my sugar rush. - Sausage and egg biscuit: This was also really great. That biscuit was flaky but substantial, with crisp edges. It held up to holding the flavorful sausage and egg. Very filling breakfast Pros: - Really nice selection of baked good, and a nice handful of sandwiches for breakfast and lunch - Really friendly and cheerful cashier - Check in freebie : cup of coffee - Parking on the street wasn't too bad during the morning on a weekday - A decent amount of seating for those eating in Cons - The cooked foods took a while to come out Would I come again? Since I'm not local, probably not

Love the ciabatta and sourdough breads. I had a BLT last time(which is seasonal) and it was the best BLT I've ever had.

Walking in less than an hour before closing, we were surprised to see most of the items still in stock! We ended up picking four things to try: Vanilla Bean Kouign Amann ($7) - This pasty has a sweet yet salty exterior that's complementary in flavor rather than clashing. It's accentuated with a crunchy glazed and caramelized sugar layer that's on the sweeter side. The interior is interesting. There's a cavernous gap right in the center that's filled with a sickly sweet melted sugar syrup. It's unpleasantly sweet and very cloying. The puffed and filled area is large enough that it compresses the other layers so the kouign amann is dense. I've never had a kouign amann quite this sweet before. (3/5) Meyer Lemon Olive Oil Cake with Thyme ($5.50) - This cake is so moist and rich, thick and dense, fatty and rich, that it feels like I"m eating a slab of butter. I'm sure it has just as many calories too! It's quite sweet, although not nearly to the level of the kouign amann. Overall, it's just a really rich and decadent cake. (4/5) Blueberry + Vanilla Cream Brioche Donut w/ Earl Grey ($6) - The top of the pastry is dressed with a cream that has an unmistakably strong bergomot earl grey taste. I wish there was way more cream - there's essentially only a dab on top! The rest of the donut is filled with a custardy light blueberry and vanilla jam. It's not too sweet and has an excellent high quality blueberry fragrance, creating an exceptionally strong blueberry taste. The jam is not too thick and is somewhat syrupy from sugar. The donut itself is really soft and extremely airy. It's the fluffiest donut I've eaten in a long time. (5/5) Raspberry Rose Cruffin ($8.50) - This pastry has some fun dehydrated raspberries sprinkled right on top of a light and fluffy cream that's not too sweet. The cruffin base is buttery in taste and great lamination even when filled with the custard and rose/raspberry cream. This is a heavy cruffin that's very filling. (5/5) Twisted Croissant certainly does some some really delectable treats. It's one of my favorite bakeries in Portland!

I'm not sure that I can justify spending $7 to $12 on a single pastry. This will have to be my special occasion bakery, I suppose. Additionally, I had a less than pleasant exchange with one of the employees. It kind of caught me off guard because that has never happened before. Maybe she was just having a rough day.

Pie wise we got the ginger plum streusel, whiskey peach and Marionberry. All delicious but Marionberry was the standout. We actually went back on our way home to Seattle and picked up the salted honey, tart cherry, and peach streusel. All good. Get there early for the best selection. I particularly recommend their chocolate, strawberry shortcake, and key lime pies. S'mores is also a solid choice. All of their pies have a great crust: flakey, thick, and excellent when dipped in coffee. I wasn't fond of the whiskey peach because it had a strong whiskey flavor, but this pie would be great for whiskey-lovers. Although the prices are pretty high, the pies are so good, and they are definitely worth trying! All of the workers are very friendly and helpful, and the restaurant has plenty of seating. While I enjoyed the sandwich I tried, prices were definitely on the higher side.
