From what I'm told, this is one of many charming locations. The Petite Provence is a smaller version of the regular restaurants with the same french charm. The service was great. Since we walked in we were greeted warmly, seated and checked upon often. I forgot to take the server name byt she was attentive and very nice. The food is good and everything tasted very fresh. I asked for some hot sauce; it was home made, fresh, and just right. The decore is very chic and they have a smaller version of the pastries display. There isn't a lot of space for pictures inside but the patio is nice. You can definitely take pictures outside the restaurant. read more

The strawberry croissant is next level. The new menu additions are so gorgeous in the case I had to take some home (along with the vanilla eclair I came in for). Food was great but the service was ATROCIOUS! As a former service worker I have so much grace towards staff to make mistakes but this was just one after the other and me and my friends were just astounded at our strange experience. We had to wait almost an hour for them to come by to even just ask us for our orders, it took nearly 20 minutes to even get our original drinks and then we were ignored when asking for refills. The waitress kept touching my friends and they felt uncomfortable, she kept telling us sorry that's what she does to show appreciation to her customers but all we were hoping for was to get hydration and food in during our time there, check out took forever as well- we were there for over 3 hours but half of the time was waiting around. read more

I went to Providence recently and was very saddened to hear that they now only use plant-based butter in their pastries and croissants. A complete mistake. They also no longer make béchamel sauce for their ham and cheese croissants and if they're take & bake croissants use plant baked butter And they're not good when I bake them. Im new to town but long in the review game and will continue to keep it 100% honest. As an annoyingly particular and well-traveled foodie, Im very excited to explore this city, after all Ive heard. On to the review... I really wanted to like Petite Provence from the minute I walked in and was greeted by the combined smell of coffee and baked goods. Sadly, it was mostly an underwhelming experience as fine bakeries go. From the too-milky iced latte to the Costco-grade pastries, nothing stood out and the aged, dry, freezer-burned Pistachio Macaron was particularly bad. The Eclair was half frozen, never a good sign as the best bakeries make everything fresh in the morning. It was also greasy, reminiscent of buttercream rather than light pastry cream. The blueberry & cheese brioche was a touch stale, dense, dry and nothing like the airy, fluffy, buttery brioche I've tasted at fine french bakeries. Glancing at the tables around me, the food looked of standard diner quality which is to say, some will be just fine with it but, sadly its not for me. Visited here while on a road trip from Canada! I had seen a friend of mine post picture from this restaurant for years and years so I knew I HAD to visit it on our mega summer Roadtrip! Unfortunately none of the items I had drooled over for years were on the menu but that didn't stop us from buying our the bakery for road treats, their famous raspberry jam, and of course a sit down meal! Thank goodness we were a party of 3 so we could try a variety! They seriously need to offer 1/2 size plates because the portions are huge! The raspberry mojito brioche French toast was out of this world! Very sweet (as described) so nice to split with a dining buddy. My teen loved her BLT croissant and soup. And me, I opted for the Monte Cristo. However, I found it quite eggy and heavy. It may be the perfect sandwich for you but for me it was too dense. Regardless the food was all made from scratch with love! The sides we opted for were soup and fresh fruit. I would've loved to try a dessert here but we couldn't even finish our lunch plates. A fragrance one might forgive at the docks, but hardly on a breakfast plate. And as for the potatoes? Undercooked. Roots in the most literal and disappointing sense--stubborn, pallid, and defiantly resistant to heat, as though the flame had merely glanced in their direction and fled in embarrassment. The West Coast Benedict ($20.50) was great! Comes with salmon and avocado. I personally like this more than the classic ham. I love that their Benedict's come with croissants instead of muffins. So buttery & flaky! Pro tip: ask for hollandaise sauce on the side, so your croissants don't get soggy. Came here for a brunch date after hearing raving remarks from my boyfriend and I loved it. It was a bit difficult to find parking at this location as it may get a bit busy and there's only street parking, but it's not the end of the world. Walking into the store, there's a bakery and restaurant portion. After getting seated, we decided to order their Wild Northwest Salmon Hash, La Provence Benedict, and a croissant (as they were supposedly very good). Although it was a bit slow, service was so kind. The food itself was delicious. It wasn't so out of the extraordinary, but it was definitely hearty, delicious, and perfect to enjoy with good company. Drinks: - I had a sip of the mimosa, I mean it's a mimosa what's not to like. It was served with an edible flower on top. The flower is a little gross not gonna lie, but it did add a nice visual aesthetic to the drink. Very picturesque Food: - The Corned Beef Hash was good, they have a nice in house hot sauce (at least I think it's in house) that pairs really well with this dish, that sauce is amazing. The portions are big so you might have leftovers with this one. The texture of the hash browns were textbook. I wish I got a little bit more beef though - The La Provence Benedict was an interesting experience, but not in a bad way. I've never had a benedict on a croissant before. The croissant flavor is the most salient note. The croissant was really good. If you get this you might want to eat this first because the croissant can get soggy. I'm neither turned off or blown away by this dish to be honest Ambience: - I liked the black walls with yellow trim on the paneling - The seats were very comfortable, at least it was for me - The table we were at had cool designs carved into the table with some stain (or maybe some wood burning technique, either way it was cool to look at and feel the recessed lettering) Overall: The place is good, I wouldn't mind coming back. The croissant was the star of the show for me, I liked it a lot. The service was also very good, our server was very attentive even with a packed Saturday brunch hour. I have eaten here for years. The food is excellent. The interior is bright and calm. There are good outdoor seating options. The coffee is great and the cocktails and pastries are to top notch. Today, the service was poor. We had to ask twice for water, for butter, they provided the wrong entree for one of us, and incorrectly offered me sugar free hazelnut syrup (they don't have this). This was my first time visiting this particular location, and unfortunately, the service didn't meet the standard I've experienced at other locations. Upon arrival, we were handed menus and silverware and simply directed to sit at a table across the dining area--no one escorted us. Moments after sitting down, a waitress approached and asked for our order, which felt rushed since we had just seated ourselves. When our food arrived, it was brought by another staff member, and we didn't have a chance to ask for coffee refills or any condiments. Coffee refills were very slow, and our server was often seen chatting near the kitchen rather than checking in on us with other staff. Later, when we decided to have dessert (mistake), we help ourselves to the pastry area. I picked out an item only to be told it was a day old and, surprisingly, it wasn't offered at a discount or removed from the display. That raised the question--why was it still being sold? (citrus something) After returning to our table with dessert and finishing up, we were ready to leave but couldn't find our server or any staff nearby. We ended up approaching a gentleman ourselves to pay the bill, and he seemed visibly annoyed by the request. Fluff: I got the risotto cakes with potatoes and butternut squash. It also comes with a fresh croissant and jam. The poached egg on top are a nice bonus and add creaminess. My friend got the French toast. They are huge and I recommend sharing. They have a citrusy custard sandwiched between the toast slices. We came here on a Saturday for brunch. We did not need a reservation and got seated really quick. Our waitress was really sweet and everything came out pretty quick. The vibe was giving Pixar Ratatouille in the best way. It was our first time coming here for breakfast and not just for pastries and we were not let down at all. This place was fantastic. This location doesn't have as much indoor seating as some of the other locations but we arrived around 8:15am and we were one of the only people there so it worked out great. Our waitress was super wonderful, we explained that one of the kids had a severe egg allergy and she was able to work with us and confirm what she could eat etc. I got the sunrise juice for breakfast and it was delicious and beautiful. I also got the mushroom goat cheese omelet and it was absolutely amazing. My other daughter got the crepe which she loved that they had something different on their kids menu rather than just the same menu at every single breakfast place. My mother in law got the standard breakfast, and all of us were blown away. I LOVE eating here. Every time I visit Portland, I make it a point to stop by and have brunch. I have never had a disappointing meal. My favorite thing - the warm croissant and raspberry jam that they serve you before your entrée. I could eat 50 in one sitting. I love it that much. My favorite breakfast item is the corned beef and eggs. They have set the bar for breakfast corned beef. I always ask for an extra side of the horseradish sauce that it comes with. My boyfriend had gotten the chorizo hash scramble, which came with black refried beans, while I had gotten the west cost benedict. He really enjoyed how the chorizo was spicy but then was countered with the cilantro crème fraîche to make the perfect blend. I've been to the NE Alberta location before, and loved it, and this was my first time here. I had a fabulous, filling lunch here and didn't eat again for the rest of the night. If you need a fancy cake for a special occasion, you can get it here. All of the desserts looked amazing. I started off with a Bloody Mary, which was absolutely perfect -- spicy, yummy, crisp veggies, spice around the rim. I ordered a cup of French Onion soup -- perfect. The broth was much more flavorful than others I've had in Portland, and it wasn't overly salty. Then I got the Monte Cristo, which is enormous. My husband and shared half and brought the other half home. There's a bit of pineapple, which went so well with the ham and turkey. It wasn't quite as warm and crisp as it could have been, but it was so extraordinary, I couldn't complain. I heated up the other half in my oven at home the next day, and it was amazing. We couldn't leave without trying dessert, since they all looked so good, so we had cappuccinos and a Versailles cake, which is a decadent square of chocolate cake, chocolate mousse, and caramel covered with a firm, yet gooey fondant.
