This is the only Pig-N-Pancake location in Portland, while the rest are on the Oregon coast. It has seemed to survive and keep thriving. A little outdated, but the workers are nice. This is a rather unobvious but well known chain on the Oregon Coast. I was not aware of this location in Portland. However, when another favorite place of ours was closed for brunch we found this open so we thought we would try it. We arrived before closing but not long. The phone was answered when we called to check hours quickly and was a good conversation. We arrived and were immediately seated. There were other guests in the dining area but during our visit they cleared. In fact they cleared and the location literally started closing while we were still eating. They did not rush us at all, but they turned of the lights etc while we were there. We stayed past closing time so I guess I understand that it is just a different approach. The owner was there and was extremely nice about it. The food was very good. Mom said the french toast was okay. The strawberries were on the side which is strange. But if the food was good who cares. Dad and I each got the Bacon and Eggs breakfasts. I got mine with Banana Pancakes and his was with hashbrowns. All was cooked as ordered. This is thick cut bacon and I like my bacon done so I did send it back but they did so gracefully and it came out great thereafter. The banana pancakes were reasonably very moist but yummy. They served a pineapple type coconut syrup with it I believe and it was so good. Do not sleep on this place! We were sat quickly, waitstaff was friendly and efficient, and the food was delicious. Ordered the veggie scramble and they packed it with fresh vegetables including broccoli, spinach, cauliflower, tomatoes and onions. But the real highlight was the Marion berry muffins. I had no idea that this was a local chain and it's been around over 50 years since 1961, but they opened up a location 20 years after 1981 for Portland has most locations are only on the coastal line of Oregon. I really love the vintage and kept up. Look up the place since it opened in 1981 and maybe it had been changed a little bit. I think it stayed the same since then and they keep it up real nice at this location given the area that it's turned into now these days... You know what I mean. The food is delicious as always and freshly made and for $12 I thought pigs in a blanket for a three piece was expensive but then I saw the portion size and it's great and the sausage is always delicious and he got all of the classic applesauce they give you to dip it in. I highly recommend coming here. If you want to go back in time and see a little bit of a piggy collection they have going on inside but also for a good meal and a good chat. I will usually get Eggs, over easy, Hash brown's, crispy, Sausage and Plain Toast. My Wife likes Omelets. P N P serves up some grub for sure. Huge portions. My poor Wife started with gusto but about half way through her omlet, she had other ideas. lol. She ate most of it before she threw in the towel. Me. Never. I powered through my breakfast plate. It was delicious. My Mom got a box to go. There was no way she could have eaten her plate of food by herself. The check came and was surprisingly inexpensive. Stopped in here for a quick lunch. Wasn't very quick however. Only two servers on with a lot of tables. I was seated and waited at least 12 minutes before anyone came up to even asked me what I wanted to drink. The server was trying very hard to be accommodating to everyone. I give her that. I ordered a fried halibut sandwich with a salad. The server forgot my order and then came back five minutes or so later and asked me again what I was having. After that the food came pretty quickly. That was, hands down, the worst breakfast I have eaten. My waitress was quick to see if Iwanted coffee and when I told her I had brought my tea bag (they recently switched tea brands at the coast and assumed they followed suit) she immediately brought me hot water in the service jug as well as a mug. But no warm ups or hot water refills were ever offered. She also covered the specials which included eggs, bacon and pancakes for $7 and some change or the western omelette. I ordered the eggs over medium (which came cold, watery and too runny) bacon (very cold) snd pancakes (so cold the butter would not melt). I asked for piping hot syrup that was delivered warm the first time, cold the second. Thinking if I ordered something else off the menu it may come hot so I ordered the hash browns crispy. They arrived hot and one side browned but they tasted like fish. I won't be back at this location. But the Seaside and Astoria locations never let me down!!! read more

My husband and I stopped by after a day trip to the Vista House at Crown Point. We've been wanting to come to the restaurant for some time as we always go to the one at Seaside Oregon. My husband ordered the crab and cheese omelette and I ordered the razor clams. These are both our favorites and we were not disappointed. The crab omelette had a substantial amount of crab but the toast was a bit overdone and the razor clams though a bit chewy was very flavorful. The waitress was attentive and very friendly. The inside is definitely dated and has these quaint pig figurines throughput the restaurant. There's a counter you can sit at and regular booths. It's a bit out of the way for us to drive to as we live in Milwaukie but it is just off of I205 so it is easy to get to. The bathroom has these old fashioned cloth dispensers to dry ones hands. I haven't seen these in any other restaurant as they don't seem to be as sanitary as paper towels but maybe is more environmentally better since the cloth towels can be laundered. We definitely would go back and I'd recommend this place. read more
