Pigs everywhere!

The food today was nothing special. I had the Swedish pancakes and they were so thin. There was no substance to my meal. And then ordered an order of hashbrowns that were actually really good. I will just stick to the chicken fried steak next time I come

Good food, quick service, no frills decor! We got in quick for a Sunday morning and everything was delicious! Parking lot is spacious as well.

This is a rather unobvious but well known chain on the Oregon Coast. I was not aware of this location in Portland. However, when another favorite place of ours was closed for brunch we found this open so we thought we would try it. We arrived before closing but not long. The phone was answered when we called to check hours quickly and was a good conversation. We arrived and were immediately seated. There were other guests in the dining area but during our visit they cleared. In fact they cleared and the location literally started closing while we were still eating. They did not rush us at all, but they turned of the lights etc while we were there. We stayed past closing time so I guess I understand that it is just a different approach. The owner was there and was extremely nice about it. The food was very good. Mom said the french toast was okay. The strawberries were on the side which is strange. But if the food was good who cares. Dad and I each got the Bacon and Eggs breakfasts. I got mine with Banana Pancakes and his was with hashbrowns. All was cooked as ordered. This is thick cut bacon and I like my bacon done so I did send it back but they did so gracefully and it came out great thereafter. The banana pancakes were reasonably very moist but yummy. They served a pineapple type coconut syrup with it I believe and it was so good. Waters were refilled etc. The location was clean and we saw them cleaning it and it seemed that they did a thorough job. If you are in the area would be good to check this place out.

Food was delicious, great ambiance would recommend even after 1st server was rudely impatient because we were not ready to order the 2nd time she asked us while our menus were still open, as a waitress that is server 101 learning, wait til the menu is closed lol But, the 2nd server, black hair I believe her name was Lisa was so awesome & friendly, certainly didn't need to be yelled by the rude impatient cashier (Asian women needed a break or something) because I didn't have the bill. My friend & I had not seen each other in months because I live in another state & that's her go too place for years. Would go back for the food & Liza, the others need to rethink why they are their & adjust, leave or make it better. Could have been a 5 star!

Pancakes 4.5/5 bacon 3.5/5

* Eggs Benedict 4/5 * Pancakes 4.5/5 * Bacon 3.5/5 * Chicken fried steak 4/5 -eggs Benedict, eggs were cooked perfectly and the hollandaise sauce was better than most. Tangy -pancakes we're really light and fluffy and smooth. Not to airy and not to dense. -Bacon some people might like it more than I did. I like a little bit more crispy and a little less fat, but still good -chicken fried steak had the perfect amount of breading and they didn't skimp on gravy. Some places don't give nearly enough gravy. Probably the most filling of the meals we had

Spacious, the best whipped butter, very friendly! Much better than a long wait at Gatehouse Breakfast nearby.

Food's good. Sourdough pancakes is a must try. Service is good and ambiance is quiet something with all the pig themed decor.

It took a while to get my order, but it seemed as if they hired a new worker and were showing him he ropes on how to properly make a good cheesesteak sandwich. The person teaching seemed like he had a passion for the craft of assembling and making the sandwich. But needless to say, he did, because it was pretty fire in my opinion. The beef was delicious! Very well seasoned and accompanied by the onions and swiss cheese, the sandwich was to die for! The peppers worked extremely well, and the roll that they used was super soft and toasted as well. The presentation of the sandwich was simple, but you're able to peer directly in and see all the ingredients inside the sandwich. Beef was tender and each bite was a melty, cheesy, burst of flavor in my mouth.

Never heard of it, have ya? PSC makes sandwiches for gas stations, mini marts, vending, and…read moreoffices. There's usually a company or two like this in every city, they compete with national brands of the same ilk like "Deli Express." I've written about 'gas station sandwiches' on an occasion or two. That's my phrase for them, it's not a trade label. I generally stay away from the "salad varieties" (tuna, egg), but the meat and cheese ones seem harmless. Pretty much my favorite is Deli Express' muffaletta. They take a little poetic license with the original recipe, but I like it just the same. Today I was perusing the cooler at my favorite Chinatown mini mart, and spotted Portland Sandwich Company's version of a "Reuben.' $3.49. I took it back to the office and dissected it. The label lists 64 separate ingredients that make up the corned beef, swiss, bread, and thousand island dressing (which I scrapped off). Two of the more interesting ones were "saurekraut" (sic), and "raisin juice." Hmmmm. Anyway, it wasn't so bad. The bread wasn't soggy from the kraut, which I anticipated, and the meat was passable, much more so than the press/chopped/form ham or turkey one usually gets. The food carts of Portland are great, but remember there are other small businesses in the food arena too. If you get a chance, support the Portland Sandwich Company.

Right now Captain's Galley is hidden behind a newly arrived red psychedelic-painted Mexican food truck. The food is as delicious as ever. Fried but not greasy, no old oil taste. My usual order is fish, shrimp and clams, chips instead of fries. All made fresh to order. The chips are to die for, fried just right. The breading in the clams, shrimp and fish has just the right amount of seasoning. They are so not greasy that I can eat them all as finger food and wiping my fingers off on a napkin doesn't leave greasy streaks. All are served with a little coleslaw, generous amounts of cocktail sauce, a spicy but not too much so dipping sauce, and the best tarter sauce I ever had in my life. I found something new to make me happy. They have delicious fish tacos! Before trying these I had fast food fish tacos that were more crunchy breading than fish. Captain's Galley brings the fish! Perfectly seasoned fish with toppings in proportion and a nice drizzle of sauce. Now when I go back it's a tough decision as to what to get. If you ever in your life liked New England clam chowder, get yourself on over to Captain's Galley for theirs. I've had New England clam chowder many times in New England and this is so much better! It comes with oyster crackers. This clam chowder is fresh enough that it can survive 2 days in the refrigerator and still be delicious.
