Consistently good food. Not the absolute best I've had but overall very good. Only issue is the prices have skyrocketed recently. While I know prices of everything have jumped, it wasn't great getting charged extra to eat on a Sunday for the same quality of food. $20 isn't a bad price for all you can eat but still a lot compared to what it used to be. Wide variety of options. The sushi is very good and freshly made. The options for sushi and sashimi are good. It's cool to be able to try one piece of a roll to see if you like it unlike when you have to buy a whole roll elsewhere. There are plenty of dessert options too. The servers are nice. $14/person for lunch buffet. I came here with my husband on a Friday around 11AM. They don't have as many options as other buffets we've been to but the options they do have are mostly good! Some things are hit or miss, so it's worth just grabbing a little of everything the first time around and then getting more of your favorites the second time around. It's not loud and the servers aren't overbearing but there are enough of them that you can always get someone to help you when you need something. Did not have high hopes for this place but wanted to try since this was the closest buffet near us. I started with an assortment of sushi since that looked the freshest. Then got items from the hot trays. This buffet is fairly small with only a few areas each for food. All the food seems like it was sitting there from lunch and would randomly get replenished. This place was also not the cleanest with the dirtiest bathroom I've seen in a long time. This is concerning since how are the food practices here? Ithe best food items that were decent (not amazing) were the sushi and the fried chicken wings which you cant really mess up. Grand East buffet is probably the best Chinese food buffet in Delaware. The food was so fresh, and they constantly kept selling more and more food. The coconut shrimp was probably my favorite as well as their dumplings. I went on a Friday noon for lunch, and there was a good number of tables occupied. Probably about 8 or 10 of other guest. The staff did not smile at all but they did a great job and provided great service. They were always coming by to clean up your plates as well as refill your drinks. There was not a moment where we did not have water filled. I also love that they don't continuously check up on you to make sure you're OK. Feel like this is the type of service that you get in countries outside of America where you don't have someone constantly over your shoulder, which I totally support. Foid is fine for a buffet, but they need to up their customer service fame. Some guy was at a booth with his phone with a separate speaker on full blast watching videos or sports. It could be heard clearly throughout the entire restaurant. There was another man who spent 10 minutes with his phone on speaker on a video call with someone sticking it under the sneeze guards to show the person what was on offer. You could hear both people clearly. That's just plain rude and nasty. My complaint is that not one manager tokd these rude people to stop. Great value for what you get. I was afraid because some of the reviews claimed the staff were money hungry and not hospitable, but nothing could be further from the truth. The server and hostess were very friendly and did not rush us contrary the reviews, and the food was your typical chinese spread with the notables being their hot and sour soup and their fried dumplings. Their roasted duck was decent but not the best to at I've had, but is still a good way to get value out of your meal. The only downside was that their soft serve machine seemed too cold because their ice cream seemed a bit icy and artificial tasting. This place has lost its appeal. The only appeal was that it's cheap and decent, but that's no longer the case. The last few times I visited, there was no sushi out. This is common for this place now. Usually food is left out for hours until eaten, only refreshed when it is gone. I really only go for the sushi so it has been upsetting for me as I usually turn around and head out the door after seeing an empty sushi bar. Plus the pricing went up, which isn't worth it when you can't keep the food stocked up. The waitress staff is always rude. Best example of a chinese buffet that I've been to in a while. This place has the freshest sushi I've seen at a buffet, with so many appetizers that it's not worth it to ever order take out again. Three or four types of dumplings and shumai, egg rolls, spring rolls, and a huge variety of fried and steamed options made up the only a fourth of the buffet. All of the basics were pretty good-- the fried rice, pepper steak, broccoli and chicken, and lo mein all looked and tasted like a better quality place. Didn't get to try the fish, but the chicken, beef, and pork were all very good. Although it's not in my area, it will be my first choice when I go on a weekend drive and need a great deal. This was the WORST restaurant I've ever been to in my entire life. I'm not an active yelper but I typically leave Yelp reviews when I have a terrible experience. We were in the area and wanted some Chinese. This was the closest restaurant. I should have known by the aesthetic of the restaurant when I walked through the doors. It was dark, half of the lights were not working, the smell was off, the floors were dirty, the seats were dusty. Our waitress literally threw the straws and cutlery on our table as if she couldn't be bothered. THE FOOD: The food was STONE cold. It was like eating food out of the refrigerator and letting it sit on the counter. Not an ounce of heat. The food was not fresh. Clearly it had been sitting out for hours. The rice was hard and stale. The general tso chicken was mushy, cold, and sticky. The wontons and dumplings were hard as a rock. The sauces used in the dishes tasted like chemicals. It was impossible to ingest. Our waitress was not making it any better. She kept snatching the dishes from our hands. I was so angry I had to leave her a note on the bill because she was beyond rude. The type of rude that it's justified not to tip. The jello was probably the best thing there and that speaks volumes. Stay away from that pink dessert in a cup by all means. It tastes like how one would imagine a hair perm tastes like. I've never tasted hair perm, but if I did-this is how it would taste. If I could give it 0 stars I would. They also have a salad bar, raw/chilled seafood bar, and sushi bar. Today we went for lunch and were pleasantly surprised when we realized they had even more extended choices due to Mother's Day. The sushi bar looked like a case of jewels, and the eel avocado rolls, shrimp tempura rolls, and seaweed salad were all delicious. In addition to their usual entrees we discovered they now offer roast beef. Well, I realize it's an Asian buffet, but the beef looked so good I had to try it, and boy was it worth it, delicious! Our other favorites include the teriyaki chicken skewers, chicken satay, crab Rangoon's, and various dim sum dumplings. They also make a seafood egg drop soup that I love! Pork fried rice was over when we were checking the buffet out and the container was not filled 40 mins later too. I've been a fan of this place for some time and have really missed their buffet. Went about 10 days ago after it's full reopening. Wow! Not only was the place completely refurbished but the quality of the food had maintained its fresh and tasty goodness. Sushi was still on point and their Chinese offerings were delicious and plentiful. I especially enjoyed their baked salmon and the seafood cooked in the scallop shells. Yah, I had visions that this place was probably going to be sub-par based on Trip Advisor and some of the other Yelpers, but even though the selection was small the food was actually way better than the Hibachi Buffet on Kirkwood Highway. There was probably MSG in the food because everything tasted good. They have all the typical General Tso's chicken, chicken teriyaki, fried rice, fried chicken fingers, dumplings, egg rolls, soups, dim sum assortments, and other stir fries. They had some American: fried chicken, french fries, stuffed mushrooms and clams. The sushi wasn't very creative, but anything with salmon was good. There's also the fruit/salad bar, some baked good desserts, and frozen yogurt. I for one went for those glorious fried dough balls coated in sugar. A Thursday night hauled in quite a few people in to eat so food was replaced when emptied, but they don't refill until there are only a few pieces left. It's $11.99 for adult dinner, but you can find a $1 off coupon in the neighborhood Clipper's Magazine. I'm sure it's a better deal during lunch. The place is clean. Plates get cleared off regularly. I didn't venture into the bathroom so I can't comment on that. There's plenty of parking and they do take out and have their own special menu too. Edit: Totally forgot to mention the raw oysters, clams, seafood bar. No one touched it. They also had this strange seafood mixture in a bowl that looked like it was straight out of a childhood cartoon where some kid was grossed out by seafood, because well it looked pretty weird.
