They were able to make a normally very stressful process almost stress-free, so much so that all I had to do was say "yes or no" when it came to key decisions. The Construction & More team took lead in the painful parts of dealing with permitting, PG&E, and subcontractors. They also got us in contact with their preferred vendors to help us with discounts on appliances, finishes and other materials we needed to purchase out of pocket. Overall, I found the Construction & More team extremely professional, transparent, organized, communicative and punctual when it came to the end-to-end process. They truly helped guide us through the process so we didn't have any surprises and helped us navigate any hiccups that came up. Normally, construction companies get a bad rap of being dishonest and trying to add in hidden fees and such, but Construction & More is a truly forthcoming and hardworking group of contractors who have your best interest at heart when it comes to your project no matter how big or small. For the process itself, we began with a consultation at our home to walk through the work we wanted the Construction & More team to do. For us, it was a full renovation which included removing a kitchen wall to create an open concept kitchen & living room, adding a mud room, expanding the master bedroom, moving the front and garage doors, as well as moving the ceilings to create a more open space. After the consultation was completed, we met with Avi & Joseph at their office to discuss an estimate and timeline for the work we needed done about (6-months time, pending no delays). Avi & Joseph respected our budget and were upfront and honest of how to stay within the budget and what were non-negotiables that we needed to get done. They really helped us understand what work was critical and what were nice to have to make our living space better. Once we agreed on the work, they promptly sent over a contract for signature, created a whatsapp group for real time communication, and next steps. Overall this initial process took about a week after negotiations and contract reviews. Once construction began, the team coordinated all the work. They made sure that all moving parts were well executed while setting a realistic timeline for the work to be done. All the subcontractors and tradesmen were effectively scheduled, where there wasn't a single day where there was no work being done. I felt that the team ensured that the construction was moving swiftly and the crew was respectful of our space. The crew made sure that our home was properly locked up and cleaned up after each day's work. Additionally, all the detailed finishing work was measured and completed with precision, where all the tiles placed were measured with a laser. As a bonus, the crew was also super respectful to our neighbors which is an extra plus! If you're considering a renovation of any size, but especially a full home renovation, I could not rave more about Construction & More. He was able to work around our challenging schedule and in less than one day finish the project including a way to seamlessly connect the two barn doors.

While I was initially very satisfied with George's work, unfortunately a serious flaw revealed…read moreitself after about a year. The tile beneath the shower door was not installed correctly, and this led to water slowly leaking into the baseboard anytime we used the shower. After a year, mold and mildew began to rapidly grow. After getting a consultation, the conclusion was that since the tile was not installed correctly, water did not drain from the surface properly, leading to the damage you see pictured here. I reached out to George, as our contract stated that he would fix any issues resulting from his work within 4 years after completion of the original project. Thankfully, he agreed to fix the issue after inspecting the problem in person. If George had simply fixed the tile right after his inspection, I would have no need to update this review. But unfortunately, what happened next is why I need to lower my rating. After George had agreed to fix his work, it took over 1 year to get him to come back to my home and fix it. I would send him multiple emails, texts, and phone calls trying to schedule time for him to come fix the shower. He would ignore the messages for weeks on end. And when he did respond, it would be to tell me that he was traveling, or was not available at my suggested times. When I finally managed to get time with him, he would make many comments about how he felt like the issue wasn't really his fault and that he just wanted to get done ASAP. He gave me the impression that he didn't want to make things right, but that he just wanted to fulfill his contractual obligation and be done. I did not feel like a priority to him, and it was likely because there was no money to be gained from fixing his mistake. George's fix unfortunately led to another issue. Our baseboard was replaced, and the tile was adjusted. However, since the tile needed to be adjusted at an incline to allow the water to drain, the positioning of the shower glass needed to be shifted up to give it space to open. The shower door is now misaligned with the other side of the glass. An issue that can't be fixed unless we buy a whole new shower glass door. While I am still very appreciative of George's original work, I will likely need to make significant updates to this bathroom in the future. And I will not be using GT General Contractor this time around.

Being a Realtor in the Fremont area I was fortunate to have represented a client who had several…read moreproperties in the area he wanted to sell. All were outdated and so the plan was to upgrade each property then bring them to market one at a time. It was my job to find an honest, knowledgeable, reliable General Contractor. I had interviewed several. I chose to work with George and GT General Contractor. His knowledge of the Local Building Codes stood out to me. He also had reasonable pricing. Together we worked out a contract where I would determine the upgrades, select and purchase appliances, fixtures, flooring and all major materials on behalf of my client and George would provide the minor materials and bring our vision to life. If it didn't work I could let George and GT General Contractors go and find another Contractor. It did work though. George was patient, his knowledge kept us out of trouble with the local code enforcement, He had the vision and the skillset to turn a blank canvas into something beautiful. Now don't get me wrong. I'm not saying it was all Unicorns and rainbows, it wasn't. Every time a roadblock was in our path, George never lost focus of our final objective. So when we did pull up carpet and exposed some rotting of the subfloor or removed a section of drywall only to find some termite damage, an amendment to the original contract was created and on we went. After each house was completed I would list it on the market and every one brought a new "Highest Sale" in their neighborhood. That made me look good in my clients eyes. George and I did this 5 times over and I consider him a friend. I highly recommend George and GT Contractors if you are considering a remodel. I have since moved on from my real estate career but before I did I had sold my personal residence and who did I have help me remodel it? You guessed it. George and GT Contractors.

I hired Home Pro's to remodel my 38 years old kitchen. Absolutely great experience! The process was…read morevery smooth, communication was clear and timely, priorities and budget were respected. The end result is a stunning kitchen that met all of my needs and fit the space like a glove. My experience was so great, I have already booked another project with Home Pro's due to begin this spring, 2024. Read on for more detailed review. My goals for this remodel were to raise the ceiling height by getting rid of the fluorescent light box, add additional 20-amp circuits for countertop appliances, increase storage and countertop workspace (both linear and height clearance between upper and lower cabinets), and finally give the room an updated look without compromising flow or the original architectural aesthetics. I also specified that the quality of materials (durability and ease of cleaning) was very important to me. I expect this kitchen to last at the minimum 15-20 years. Jim submitted his design plans for my review, made his recommendations for a cabinet line / company that would meet my expectations (replacement parts and doors available). The design was very thoroughly thought out. Attention was given to things that would have never crossed my mind, such as extra space between corner sink and dishwasher to make loading the dishwasher easier; custom built-in over-the-counter microwave; cabinets where there were none before; extended countertop to add a coffee bar; and a custom table made from the same material as the countertop. Once the design was accepted, I received a contract with detailed cost for all work and materials. This full transparency was very beneficial to me. It helped me make informed decisions when deciding between full quartz backsplash or tile (the full quartz was surprisingly less expensive than the tile I would have chosen). Jim is very considerate of finances, often offering options and choices with money saving advantages. He offered simple work-arounds, suggesting rerouting an air duct instead of repositioning a support beam. This simple work-around saved me $2,000. Communication was very clear throughout the project. Employees and specialty contractors were all licensed professionals. They kept the work area clean, answered questions clearly, and most importantly, provided excellent completed work. I went into the project with a 25% buffer for unexpected expenses, as there are always surprises when you open walls. Fortunately, these were minimal and Jim used cost effective approaches when addressing them. He educated me on the options and let me make the final choices. The entire process was very fluid. There were a few slowdowns, but these were due to the City of Fremont missing inspections, not returning calls or emails, and not picking up the phone at times. Unfortunately, Fremont has suffered with these issues even before COVID, so if you live here be aware of possible delays. I have visited many open houses in my neighborhood to see how other neighbors have remodeled their space over the last 30 years. They ranged from simple facelift approaches to full luxury, and even converting to open concept design. Thankfully, I believe mine is the best kitchen remodel for this floorplan in the development. Nothing looks forced or out of place. Jim's design is impressive and robust. Thoughtful and carefully chosen upgrades made a huge difference. My new kitchen is extremely functional, and has a sophisticated, timeless look.

I called and left a message for Steve at Tri-Valley Construction, (TVC), regarding a defective…read more1/4-turn water supply line valve that needed to be replaced in our laundry room. This involved removing sheetrock, cutting pipes, installing new valves, then replacing the sheetrock, applying plaster and texture, and finally painting. This was way above my pay grade, so I reached out to Steve. Within minutes, he got back to me. He asked for photos and provided an estimate with a range, depending on the complexity of what they found. Steve sent his crew over just a few hours later to begin the project. Victor and Edgar arrived, and within minutes, the Sawzall was going to town on our wall. I'll admit, I had my reservations, but it quickly became clear that these guys knew what they were doing. Each phase required a return visit to allow the individual coats of plaster to dry, etc. Our water was only turned off for about an hour or so during the entire project, and the finished product was very good. We're now considering TVC for other projects. I would not hesitate to recommend them!

I hired Prime to renovate my kitchen - countertops, backsplash, cabinets, electrical, freezer, etc…read more They also helped install a new bidet toilet for me. Overall the experience was very good; Elijah and Bryan were super friendly and responsive. Eli was very patient and accommodating as we discussed several different potential change orders, from new windows to painting, to other misc. things that popped up. Bryan Luna was especially a pleasure to work with. His attention to detail and proactivity to solve any little thing I mentioned was definitely the highlight of working with Prime. Their contracted electrician, Hector, was great as well. I also think they did a great job building out a cabinet to fit our freezer next to the matching fridge. Their master carpenter managed to salvage our existing wood to make it match perfectly. Definitely better than what I'd expect from even a carpentry specialty contractor. I will mention that it wasn't without some snags. Prime deals in volume so they're very busy. I think because I had delays in sourcing a freezer I ended up not getting a dedicated project manager for some time. We had timeline issues made worse with holidays. This caused cascading delays which inevitably pushed back my move in date a few weeks. When I finally did get a new project manager, they ghosted me (later on I found out they had a family emergency). Eli had to step in again to help. Another thing is that their pricing is quite opaque. The estimate will break down prices by milestones, but they repeated told me that it's not a valuation of the milestone itself. This made it nigh impossible to understand if I wanted to contract out specific pieces of the project (e.g. flooring). Design was OK. I felt that the designer was very busy. Sometimes very responsive (5min replies), sometimes not responsive at all (no reply). I wish I had a better, more thorough back-and-forth session about the intricacies of the design. But we made do. Ultimately, the designer made a render and helped point us to some vendors, but from there we had to make our own selection alone (cabinets, handles, pendant lights, faucets, etc.). I did appreciate her presence when we picked out countertops, though. All in all, I think this was a 4.5 star job, but I'm rounding to 5 because of Eli and Bryan :)

There have been multiple unresolved issues with the quality of work and follow-through. One example is an LED light that continues to flicker. It has been more than six months, with many calls and text messages, but the issue still has not been fixed. Another example is damage to our garage cabinet, where a hole was created during the work. We are still waiting for this to be repaired as well. Overall, the lack of timely resolution and poor communication after the project has been extremely frustrating.

Extremely Poor Experience - Lack of Accountability and Misrepresentation…read more We were assigned AMS by our HOA to repair extensive damage to our living room and kitchen caused by a major water leak from a common pipe. Unfortunately, working with AMS has been a nightmare. Our home has been left in a broken, partially demolished state for over six months with no meaningful progress. AMS consistently hides behind "contract terms" and "processes," yet fails to follow through on their own commitments. Timelines are repeatedly pushed with vague or fabricated explanations, and every promised start date has come and gone without action. For more than three months, we were explicitly told that materials were being procured. When it became clear that no materials had actually been ordered and we questioned the misinformation, the response was simply, "the past is past." This complete lack of accountability was shocking. Whenever we ask direct and reasonable questions, AMS redirects us to the HOA instead of answering--using this as an escape mechanism. At the same time, they provide the HOA with inaccurate or misleading updates to justify ongoing delays, creating conflicting narratives and leaving the homeowner stuck in the middle. Living in a damaged home for this long has caused significant stress, disruption, and financial burden. Communication has been poor, commitments have not been honored, and transparency has been completely lacking. Based on our experience, I would strongly advise against working with AMS, especially for time-sensitive or homeowner-impacting repairs. Accountability, honesty, and basic project management are severely lacking.

Mark was right on time and ready to go. He explained his process, time lines, showed us pictures of his previous work and gave us some ideas. We had a quote the next day and it was in line or under the other 3 contractors that had provided previous quotes. We signed the bid and we were off and running. It took him about 4 weeks to start but you are going to need that because we had to source all the material like tile, bath tub, toilet, bath fixtures, vanity, mirrors and countertops. Baird does not render designs, but Mark did offer up suggestions and gave all the measurements so we knew how much to buy. We were ready to go when Mark, Edgar and Pablo showed up for demo! The first thing they did was put down floor protection, put up plastic and taped off the vents to the limit the dust during construction. Demo went quick and thankfully there were not too many surprises. Once we were ready for construction Mark went through everything with us again so we were all on the same page before construction started. This is one of Mark and team's strong points. We checked in constantly and they listened to us! We made some last minute changes and guess what...no problems. He made sure we got what we wanted. Edgar and Pablo were true professionals. Edgar was truly a master at laying tile. It was incredible. He drew or chalked out all the patterns prior to laying the tile so that we could see what it was going to look like, measured perfectly, and then laid it down like a master! It took 4-5 weeks to get it all done but it was worth it! What an amazing result. The thing that I appreciated the most was that after a long day of work Edgar and Pablo left the work space and the rest of house as clean as it was when they got there. The last thing that I want to mention was that Mark's bid for the job was accurate. We were lucky that there were not a lot of surprises, but we paid what bid came in at. For me that's a sign that the man really knows this business. I paid in 3 installments and the first one wasn't until demo was done and we settled on our final layout. Mark, Edgar and Pablo were true professionals and good people. I would recommend them to anyone in the Tri-valley!
