From the moment she moved in, she was surrounded by warmth, friendship, and opportunity. The grounds are absolutely beautiful -- especially the peaceful wooded area in the back, where she enjoyed walking and spending quiet time in nature. Inside, the gathering spaces are inviting and thoughtfully designed, making it easy for residents to connect, relax, and feel at home. One of the things she appreciated most was how intellectually and socially engaging life at Laurelmead is. She looked forward to the regular educational talks, musical performances, movie nights, and the many activities that kept each week interesting and fulfilling. There was always something to enjoy, but never any pressure -- just a wonderful sense of community. The dining experience was another highlight. The dining room is lovely, and she genuinely enjoyed the wide variety of menu choices and the quality of the meals. Dining became a social event she looked forward to every day. Most importantly, she made deep and lasting friendships there. Laurelmead gave her not just a place to live, but a vibrant community where she felt connected, stimulated, and happy. Our family is so grateful for the caring environment and the joyful years she experienced at Laurelmead. I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone considering independent living for themselves or a loved one.

My parents, unfortunately, were both experiencing health issues when we made the decision to move…read morethem up here from North Carolina to be closer to me. I visited several Independent Living homes and the Village was by far the best. It's set on top of a hill overlooking Waterman lake which is breathtaking from spring through fall. The facility is immaculate and the staff goes out of their way to make sure the residents have the resources they need. One of the first things I noticed when my parents moved in was how friendly and welcoming the other residents are. You can tell people enjoy being there, and my parents did too for their short time there. Their health deteriorated faster than any of us expected and they both needed to be moved quickly into the nursing home. If you meet Moriah, the general manager, (or house mom as my parents called her), she is always dressed to the nines with flawless make-up and four inch heels. When my dad needed to be moved to the nursing home, I noticed she had swapped out her skirt and heels for jeans and sneakers. She and two of the facility nurses pushed my dad down to the nursing home in a rolling recliner to make sure he could be moved comfortably and safely. She did the same for my mom when it was her turn. Moriah set-up the move in days and pushed my mom's wheelchair, this time in her heels, to her new room. If my parents had still been in North Carolina when their health crashed, or in a less accommodating facility, I don't know what I would have done. Every staff member in that place from the top to the bottom did what they needed to do to take care of my parents, and that is an invaluable service when you are dealing with aging loved ones.

I strongly recommend that you NOT have your loved one go to ROYAL Nursing Home and Rehab Center. I…read moream talking from experience. My loved one was there and was treated very Rude by most of the aides. The aides showed No Compassion or Empathy. While there she allegedly contracted a MRSA Infection in her wound and in her blood causing her to have temps up to 103*! MRSA is caused by a highly Contagious Staph Bacteria transmitted by Poor Hand Washing and/or Careless Wound Care administered by Staff Members as I didn't change my own wound care dressings. It was not uncommon to be left on the bedpan or on a commode for up to 15 minutes. Once while an aide was assisting my loved one back to bed, the aide bellowed out these exact words "WHY YOU SHAKE SO MUCH YOU GOT THE PARKINSON'S OR SOMETHING?". Ironically she was being treated for Parkinson's Syndrome and my loved one began to cry as the aide walked out of the room. Another time while visiting at mealtime, someone came out of the kitchen and yelled down the corridor "WE JUST RAN OUT OF CHICKEN WE'RE GONNA HAVE TO GIVE THE REST PEANUT BUTTER AND JELLY SANDWICHES!". When her Dr. found out that she allegedly contracted MRSA while Rehabbing at ROYAL He put ROYAL on his Do Not Admit to this Facility List ! All I can say is Do your Homework. Do not trust the Medicare.gov website for accurate ratings, but rather rely on word of mouth from Friends and Co-Workers.
