Very solid Mexican food, great (albeit short) service, and I don't think they have any concern with consumption on-premises laws. That's worth a star alone. The facade may appear seedy, but they hold down an 'A' health rating (if you're concerned with that sort of thing). Grand Morelos definitely deserves credit. While the food is not the best around, it is still very good option to keep in mind. Chicken sandwiches, and burritos are usuals of mine when I stop by. Grand Morelos also has a few features that are worth noting. - very inexpensive (I mean $4 burrito cheap) - 24 hours (although they don't deliver at all hours) - 2 menus (the "American Menu" and the other for Mexican food) - doubles as a bakery The reason it loses that last star with me is because if you don't speak Spanish, they will treat you as though you have done something very wrong. Examples: - Having looked over the menu and ready to order I look to the waitress who is standing watching telemundo with her back to me. At one point she even turned to me, I gave a gentle wave, and she turned back to the tv. - Another time I stopped in for pick-up. I walk to the counter and decide what I want, the waitress looks at me and starts speaking Spanish. I say "hi, I'm sorry I don't speak Spanish." she pauses for a second then continues trying to speak to me in Spanish. She makes 2 more attempts at speaking to me in Spanish before switching to English (which she spoke perfectly). Overall - good food, great price, 24 hours, variety, awful service. read more

The service at this place was absolutely terrible. In the relatively empty restaurant, we waited an hour for food because apparently the microwave broke. Yes, a waitress literally told us that is why it took so long which could explain why the rice tasted as though it had be reheated 100 times before it was served to me. They were also forgetful and misunderstood the slightest change in menu. The rest of the food was decent but inconsistent. Some plates were cold and gross while others were so hot you could burn yourself and had extra sauces and cheeses. At least I can say I had good fries and the spicy sauce was well, spicy. read more

This place is the shit. I love it. I always get the chicken tinga burrito with guacamole. Some people say the waitstaff has an attitude- I have never experienced that ever. Everyone who works there is cool and I go all the time. It's pretty quiet and not usually crowded. It's a safe haven for people who just want to eat delicious food and relax. My two friends and I went in on a Friday at noon for lunch. We waited 15mins for someone to come over and help us. We ordered immediately and it took another hour for our food to come. To begin we waited about more than half an hour for our food also my first plate had a hair on it so I had to let the waitress know and she gave me a new plate but the food wasn't as appealing. My favorite place for bistec chilaquiles. And great avocado salsa. That said I waited 40 minutes for my food today and the lady charged me 2.50 for avocado and a roasted jalapeño when I wanted the avocado salsa which is free and 1 roasted jalapeño. When I got the check I asked her why she charged me for the avocado when I didn't want it, which I told her as soon as she gave it to me sliced up on my food. She then started to argue with me. I don't want to argue over what I ordered. Mix ups can happen when there is a slight language barrier but there is no reason to get like that over a half an avocado. I feel compelled to write this review because of the horrendous experience my husband and I had at Grand Morelos. I ordered chicken enchiladas and a cup of coffee. My husband ordered a medium lentil soup and a grilled cheese and bacon sandwich. We waited for approximately 20 minutes and I kept waiting for my coffee (even though the place was almost empty). Finally, my enchiladas and my husband's soup arrived (my coffee arrived after I reminded another waitress to bring me the coffee). Since I am fluent in Spanish (and my hubby isn't), I decided to ask this second waitress about the grilled cheese sandwich. She told me that it was coming soon. My husband was growing upset by that time since he wanted to have the sandwich with the soup. He tried the soup and it was lukewarm and extremely watery (basically lentil in a bowl of dirty water). He kept looking impatiently towards the kitchen and the waitresses that were gathering outside the kitchen chatting. I listened to them telling the cooks to hurry up with the sandwich (by that time, I had eaten almost half of my food. BTW, the food was mediocre at best). One of the waitresses reminded the cooks about the grilled sandwich and told them that I had almost finished my dinner. Approximately 10 minutes after we got the soup and the enchiladas, the "grilled cheese" arrived. With a not-so-sincere 'apology' and while running away from us, our (first of two) waitress uttered something like "sorry about that". We were shocked when we saw the "grilled cheese" sandwich; semi-toasted white bread with some chewy bacon and some cold slices of cheese between. The cheese wasn't melted at all; not even honoring its name: grilled. We paid the bill and swore never to return. One last piece of advice. If you want good and affordable Mexican food, go to Haab (also in Grand street and a couple of blocks from Grand Morelos). It may be a little pricier but it's worth it. read more

Came here with friends the other night after a long day at work. I had a cheddar cheese bacon burger deluxe with a strawberry milkshake and it was great! Seriously the burger was well cooked and the buns were super fresh, the fries were super yummy and they weren't cheap either they made sure to fill you with fries. The shake was good to, nothing amazing but good. Waitress was nice and quick, she made sure to check on us and asked if everything was okay and to offer dessert. Only bad part was one of my friends ordered a steak burrito with no beans. They added beans to her burrito and she complained that the meat was cold. I ordered from Seamless and delivery was on time. But that's about all that was good from Grand Morelos. Grilled cheese was not even melted or grilled properly...it was like slightly toasted white bread with cheese. Fries were soggy and greasy. Gyro was bland and tasteless. The pita used for it was dry and cracking. The only decent food was a steak "burrito" which at least had tasty steak. But it was def not a burrito...more like a larger taco than a burrito. Every burrito I know has rice and beans inside as well as a larger wrap. This was just meat, lettuce, cheese and the same wrap as a soft taco. Will not order from here again. read more
