The service here is terrible. Consistently terrible. The food is mediocre at best. Worse than the service, their billing is very shady when you pay by card. They automatically add on an (excessively generous, even when *not* considering the terrible service) gratuity to your bill and present this as the final amount. Then, when they return with the receipt for you to sign, the receipt reflects this already-tipped amount, *with* another field to add in more tip. Some stipulations: I have only eaten off the Mexican part of the menu and I have only come here on late nights, taking advantage of it being 24/7. The quality of the food here is directly proportional to ones blood alcohol content. Taking into consideration that this place is open 24 hours, is fairly close to a number of bars, and that they have Mexican and American food as well as a large dessert case, it's worthy of at least 3 stars. None of the food I'm willing to bet is excellent sober and the service is outstandingly bad so for that I'm sticking with an A-OK rating. Most of the food here hovered around $10 which for some things are a little overpriced but some things are a good deal. They do have a $4 burrito which seemed to be the best deal. I lived around the corner from here for six months and couldn't get enough of their tortas. I miss this place at least once a week.

I've been coming to this place since I was a little girl(I'm an original Williamsburg resident). They have definitely improved over the years while not losing the family friendly environment. What can I say about Grand Morelos, they are the most caring, the owners are great and speak with customers, the waitresses are even great! I went to Speak with the owner and told him, I was picking up donations for the devastation in Puerto Rico and Mexico, with no hesitation he right away donated 50lbs of rice, cases of tomatoe sauce, beets,seasoning, what can I say this was such moving to me it bought tears to my eyes, once again Thank you Grand Morelos for all your help. This place is the bomb!! No fancy decorations, gimmicks or long lines, this is the place to go when you want cheap, authentic and amazing Mexican food! My boyfreind and I always get the nachos, tacos and burritos --- all for $15!! Their breakfast is pretty good too. i've been here a million times, its open 24 hours its DIRT cheap and its decent food. I wouldnt call their mexican food mexican by any means, just because you wrap something in a tortilla doesn't mean its mexican, but it doesn't mean its not good either. The food is great for the price the burritos are excellent the tacos are good I wish they had real cheese though. the main problem here is the WORST SERVICE EVER everytime I go here I say i'm never coming back becuase of the service and then I always do and I always end up regretting it even if you try to stop them to get the check you'll still end up waiting about an hour. read more

so I came here at 3 am , the place was crowded at that hour, the portions are generous at really good prices, everything Is fresh too. Reliable, inexpensive, simple Mexican food. Don't expect to be in and out quickly though....they're in no rush to serve you the order, which is not necessarily a bad thing. I usually get the combo meals (taco/enchilada/tostada or a similar trio) to add some variety rather than commit to one particular dish. I love the batidos, "mamey" is my favorite and has been since as far back as I can recall. They whip em up pretty good here. The waitstaff is friendly, polite and speak very limited English. This is also a plus b/c it gives me a reason to practice my 2nd language which in recent years has been languishing. read more

Despite the fact that the burrito was more like a big beef-and-bean soft taco, I was already getting a good feeling from it before I took the first bite. And other than the beef being a touch dry, it did everything pretty well and a little more. Terrible service. They ruined our night. We should had left as soon as we walked in. I went to Morelos tonight with another 5 friends because of their Tuesday Taco special. The waitress refused to honor the taco deal advertised. We were told that the deal was over and we would have to pay the regular price. We let her know that her colleague confirmed the night's special when we walked in. She replied by saying that the other waitress "was new to the restaurant and didn't know well how it works." She brought guacamole to the table eventhough we didn't request. Finally, when the bill came, after spending almost $120, we were charged 4% extra because We were paying the check with one credit card. In other words, after 15 years living in NYC, this is the first time a restaurant passes to me THEIR credit card fee responsibility. When we left, we saw a poster attached to the restaurant window. Indeed, Taco Tuesdays goes until midnight. We went back inside, told her what we read on the poster, and complained. She told us she would tell her manager to change the information on poster. The Mexican citizen in our group who is visiting NYC was chocked by the service and the terrible quality of the meal. In conclusion, this is a restaurant serving mediocre food and fooling the neighborhood with deals they cannot deliver. This is the first and last time I eat or bring people there. read more

This place is cheap, and good. No frills, agreeable hours (i think 24 hour?) and low prices on really decent food. I like this place for late night, or in the morning if i don't necessarily want to commit to a big brunch ordeal. Service has always been fast for me, and the food quality has never been lacking. I've lived on Graham Ave. for 3 years and just this month discovered Grand Morelos. This diner not only has the most welcoming atmosphere of any in the neighborhood (due first and foremost to the adorable matronly latina servers), but they make excellent Mexican food. I admit, I haven't had anything except their Mexican dishes, but they are well worth the visit. Open 24 hours, I can just see my drunken self slouched over the bar mumbling something about spicy pork (carne enchilada) burritos and Negra Modelo. Amidst the fake palm plants that shade the interior from the hustle on Grand St., you truly feel like you stepped out of Williamsburg into the welcome embrace of a family-run Mexican restaurant. read more

I at here when I was in the neighborhood for a haircut. I don't eat Mexican often, probably because I don't like much of what is passed off as "authentic." Well, in my humble opinion, Grand Morelos is the real deal. Everything I ate was delicious! I highly recommend the chili rellenos. The other entrees--enchiladas, tacos, and the like--are never a puddle of cheese and sauce on a plate. The tortillas seem to be freshly baked, the fillings lovingly prepared. On a suggestion from a friend and fellow yelper, I decided to give this place a try since good Mexican is hard to come by. I am so happy I did! The ingredients are fresh and the salsa's are delicious. The burritos are a bit on the small side (think "big flour tortilla taco") but worth every cent ($3.50). Agree with the others that their tortas (I had the cheese) is fantastic. The amount of oaxaca cheese generously stuffed into it probably amounts to an entire ball of mozzarella. I also bought a sponge cake-y thing wrapped in filo pastry from the bread/cake counter. The filo part was a little dry, but I liked it nonetheless for its unsophisticated (in a good way), home-made kinda taste. This place lacks a star for me due to the fact that both girls standing behind the counter was extremely rude. Went here last weekend. I had the cecina (salted beef) which was bomb. Went in the afternoon, so I imagine as drunk food this is 10x better. The waitresses are very nice and even bring out nice jugs of water so you don't have to keep bothering them for refills. The only complaint I have is that the booths are too small and there is not enough leg room for me and another person of my height (5'11") to sit! read more

I haven't been here, but my friend grabbed me a green salsa tamale and dayyyuuuum it was delicious! I ate it the next day and put it in the oven to heat up. It still tasted fresh. I was so satiated and pleased :) As a person from New Mexico who loves spicy food and knows what a real tamale tastes like, I highly recommend this place. The most amazing tres leches cake! My mother had ordered tres leches cakes from them when I was a kid for special occasions and then had forgotten about them. She remembered them recently and just had to have a cake from them and so did I. It tasted just as great when i was a kid. We also decided to try out their food. I already have my favorite mexican restaurant but this place not only have great cakes but great tacos as well. read more
