I had an appointment for my child yesterday and due to an accident on the freeway between myself and the destination I knew I was going to be late for the appointment. I dutifully called to the office to notify them of that and was told that it should be fine, they would contact the receptionist at the office we were heading to to let them know and they have a 15 minute grace period so it shouldn't be an issue. I got to the office as quickly as I safely could and made it at 4:35 which was 15 minutes after the appointment but still within the stated grace period. When I got to the desk the receptionist informed me that the doctor had already left for the day and there was no one there to see my son despite my best efforts to get him there including notifying them I would be late and I was on the way. Considering the fact that the receptionist was more than prepared to tell me too bad it shows me that they never had any intention to see my son. This practice is a disgrace. This isn't the first issue I have had with them giving incorrect information with their office staff but it will certainly be the last.

I asked her if it would be a day or a week and she said another office recently closed their doors without notice and they were currently trying to reschedule "thousands" of patients. I asked her if I should be looking for another eye doctor and she repeated that someone would reach out to me and then abruptly hung up in my ear. I don't have many choices when it comes to retina specialists in the area. Doctor Korot is very knowledgeable, but did not spend a lot of time with me. This was hard as a patient. I get other patients might have more urgent needs, but if I waited over two hours to see you because my retina is detaching, I'd appreciate better "bedside manner." Annual check ups matter too!!! If I could get a referral to a different doctor, I would change offices. Second reason I do not recommend this office: my appointments have been canceled last minute, and rescheduling is damn near impossible. I can never get anyone on the phone! The folks who do take calls don't work in the office and have to leave a note with the office. It took over five times for me to call and leave a message to get a returned call! Again very frustrating from the patient side. Finally, paying a bill is more difficult than it should be. You get the bill in the mail with a number to call. But guess what? The operators say the office is busy and they'll "call you back." I'm not sure what else can be done, aside from going into the office to pay my bill. I would argue that you have to go to the office to schedule and pay bills in person because the phone and email do not seem to work. Please do better, retina specialists of Michigan. You can hire more people to help with admin work, this might actually help patients.

After I was done with that portion I was personally walked into the exam room and greeted by Dr. Goodfellow just a few moments after.
