Labor Day weekend 2025 we just had to find GTPC while on vacation. We buy their cherry pie from our local grocery and they are to die for! We wanted to see if the fresh baked ones were just as yummy and YES they are. Get the Cherry crumble you wont be disappointed. We decided to have lunch since we were here and the mac-n-cheese was yummy too. My husband had their chicken noodle soup with Michigan cherry salad and he loved it too. It was a bit of a wait but hey we are retired and on vacation. We had our pup with us so we were able to sit outside which was nice too. Now that we are back home my mouth is watering for a slice of cherry pie. Parking is a lil snug getting in and out but there is street parking and a parking lot across the street. read more

Ok, only a second time for me at the Grand Traverse Pie Co. this is one of my wife's favorites. I do enjoy chicken pot pie, which is always well cooked and very comforting. Love the flaky crust and all the veggies with the creamy sauce. Like something grandma would make! The strawberry rhubarb pie was a bit too soggy for me. I like a slight crunch to my rhubarb. It just seemed mushy to me. My wife loves the key lime and I like the chocolate cream. It is like a thick chocolate pudding with a crust! Hint: come on Monday and get an entree over $7.99 and get a slice of pie. Or for us with the 3 piece combo an extra slice! read more

A few years back I had the chicken salad sandwich at GTPie and it was awesome. Since then my experiences have been pretty limited to the pie but I was in the area over the weekend and decided to grab a sandwich for dinner to go. It was....not great. It was pretty bland and the salad was more of a paste consistency than a salad with chopped chicken chunks that I remembered. I could also have used something with a little crunch. Celery? Onion? It was just not what I remembered. Not sure if the recipe changed but I won't be in a rush to get it again. I did, however, get a couple of mini pies to go as well and those, as always, were delicious. The blueberry lemon silk pie and chocolate cream pies were fantastic. Service was incredibly quick and friendly. The lobby/ordering area felt a little tight. Definitely one of the smaller locations I've seen. read more

I went here for lunch. The service was on the slower side. They were kind and tried, but was just slow. And not because if an overwhelming number of customers. Got a chicken pot pie which was on point as usual. Freaking love it with the flaky crust and chunks of chicken. Try it! It's a casual place. Tables needed to be wiped down. Everything about my experience at Grand Traverse Pie Company (GTPC) was OK. The service: when we arrived at the counter, a woman - with a mask and gloves on - was prepping some food. We said hello and told her we were ready to order. As she was talking to us, her mask kept slipping off her nose and she kept fidgeting with her mask non-stop. I was surprised and slightly disgusted that she kept touching her mask/ face, rung us up (touched the register and money), and then went back to touch food. The pie and coffee: we ordered one slice of Lakeshore Berry (strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and apples) and Michigan ABC (apples, blueberries, and cherries), and two regular coffees. My friend and I shared the pie - they were sweet and good, but the two pies almost tasted the same. Maybe when you combine a variety fruit together, it's harder to discern one fruit or berry from another. We were given cups to dispense our own coffee from a choice of 4-5 carafes/ flavors. You can also help yourself to lids, cream, sugar, and napkins. The coffee (at least the two we selected) was warm (and not hot). The seating arrangements: inside, there are booths and tables. I didn't notice any booths/ tables blocked off due to COVID-19 restrictions. Outside, there is a nice patio with 4 tables spaced out. There are also two, 2-person tables in front of GTPC. I would go back to GTPC if a friend wanted to meet there, but I'll stick with buying whole apple pies to-go. read more

got the Maurice salad for my husband--it has some brown leaves throughout the salad, and he said even the other ingredients were not very fresh tasting. the chicken noodle soup was mostly carrots and celery, not noodles or chicken.. The food is mediocre here. I had a turkey sandwich, which was essentially exactly what I could have made at home with deli meat from Meijer. Not really worth it. I didn't get any pie, maybe that would have changed my mind. read more

I wrote my review on past episodes we had with GTPC, but yesterday was one I just wanted to touch on. I don't know if it was a one time instance, but my wife and I had the broccoli cheddar soup. Normally it's hot and soup-like (thinner, but not thin like a broth-based soup). This time it was lukewarm, and it had a really strong taste to it, almost bitter. After a few bites, we both pushed it away and wrote it off as a single instance. I'm sure this is a once-off, but keep in mind their soups are normally hot and steaming a bit. This I think was a one time exception. Hopefully next experience, they'll get back that one star. Everything else though, still delicious! read more

We stopped in for lunch much before a movie. I chose the slice of quiche Lorraine with a side salad. Also chose a piece of chocolate cream pie. I totally loved the quiche and salad. The pie was not anything to write home about. My husband a shrimp and corn soup which appeared to not have any shrimp in it. Also chicken pot pie and side salad. This is one of those "you've got to eat here before leaving town" restaurants. Whenever my family is headed past this area we make it a point to literally plan exactly how long it takes to get there and leave at the exact time so we arrive for lunch. That's how good it is here! I loved the Manitou sandwich(see precious review for description) last time I was here that I ordered it again. I love the blueberry applesauce and I choose it for my side. Before leaving I ordered a pint of it To-Go. I eat it in the car and it's gone before I get to the next destination. We arrived on a Monday, and noticed a sign that said free pie with a specific purchase. How cool is that!!! I choose the Cherry Ganache, what a delightful slice of heaven. I love stopping here on the way home from visiting family in Michigan! So much to love here: we've tried the pot pie, the pasty, and the Manitou sandwich with blueberry applesauce on the side. The blueberry applesauce is so good, my husband asked to buy a tub to take home. Apparently he was the first to ask because that first time they weren't sure what to do. This last time we went, they had prices in the cash drawer for two sizes of tubs. Awesome! We also happened to go in on a Monday, and a regular customer made sure to tell us that if we spent $7.99 for a meal, we would get a free piece of pie! My go-to place for delicious, fresh pies that support Michigan. I have visited the location in Ann Arbor, too, but like that this location is convenient being right off of US-23 in Brighton. My usual go-to meal is the quiche combo (slice of quiche, pumpkin bread slice, and a slice of pie) but today as you can select from any of the quiches that are available, but today, I tried the Pot Pie combo (chicken pot pie, salad with choice of dressing, and a slice of pie) which is now a new favorite. The pot pies are a decent size - at least 50% larger than those you can get in the freezer section of a grocery store, and they have nice chunks of chicken and a creamy inside mixed with veggies. I give Grand Traverse Pie Company a 0 out of 5 stars. The last three times I have visited the outcome has been the same. Terrible service and really bad food. It's not cheap food and the last three sandwiches I bought were not good. After the first experience that was bad I thought hmmmmm let's see if this a one off visit. Then my girlfriend brought home GT Pie and it was as bad as the last visit. Today I decide to visit one more time. Of course the outcome was the same. Old tomato on a very stale croissant with very little chicken salad. Wildly disappointing. I attached two photos of the last pathetic chicken salad sandwich I will purchase for $9.00 at GT Pie. Potbelly Sandwhich ship gets my business from now on.... Now some chick named Erin who's title is multi media consultant says for me to send her my phone number so that the owner can make it right. I gave your employees a chance to do the right thing. EVERYTIME I returned my sandwich I was looked down upon. Not once. All three times. GT Pie's management isn't good and their food isn't either. There isn't anything your owner can do to bring me back as a customer. Give free food to the homeless if you feel guilty. My business goes elsewhere. read more

I came in a couple weeks ago looking for a raspberry pie, just raspberry nothing fancy. I'd seen them here before but alas they don't make them regularly. I asked the cashier when they make them and he told me to call ahead anytime I wanted them to make me raspberry pie and they'd spin one out for me. I took them up on their offer last week and came in after work for a beautiful fresh raspberry pie made just for me! I was geeked grinning from ear to ear! Clearly pie makes me a happier guy. All the food is delicious. I always get the Ruben with double meat sometimes I change it up. The atmosphere is relaxing and casual. I make it here once a week with work. They also have really good coffee. I thought it was just a pie shop but they have sandwiches, wraps, pot pies, quiche, and lots of deserts and cookies. I hate to say that I didn't try the pie at all, but I'm looking to remedy that sooner or later. I was a bit bummed that they didn't have much in the way of decaf tea, though. Not sure why people would rather frequent Panera rather than this place. Everything I've had here has tasted fresh, homemade and flavorful. I've had their chicken pot pie, beef pot pie, dessert pies, sandwiches and soups (their lobster bisque is pretty damn good). Last I was there, they just started serving a new item, pasties (for the unknowing, pasties are hand pies filled with savory filling), which I would like to try! Some reviewers complain about the prices here, but I've spent way more at Panera for mediocre food. They have a $10 combo where you can get an individual chicken pot pie, fresh salad and a slice of dessert pie. Try this place...you won't be disappointed. read more

I was so looking forward to trying this place out and I stopped by this Brighton location. It was just about closing time the first time. I pulled up and could see employees inside, I opened my car door and started walking towards the door and an employee came and locked the door just before I tried to open and they locked the door. I wish I had Not gone back. Took a friend the next time and we were both VERY disappointed to say the least. We ordered chicken pot pies with salads and a piece of pie. The pot pies were Terrible and the salad wasn't even chilled. Room temp and the lettuce was limp. This place is a very poor excuse for a restaurant. The pie was just ok. Never again.
