We are regulars at the Panera Bread drive-thru on Grand River. Their food has become comically expensive, but we enjoy a handful of their items and continue to go. Today, I ordered two salads and when the food was brought to the window, I apologized and said I forgot to ask for extra dressing. The employee looked at me and said he was sorry but they had no extra dressing. Are you kidding me? If things are that bad, they need to call it a day. read more

Totally adequate Panera as far as a location in the chain goes. I was there working remotely yesterday and the WiFi is fast, there's plenty of seating, and a ton of tables have outlets. The bathrooms could have been cleaner however. I had the value duet with a tomato soup and a barbecue chicken sandwich. The chicken quality in the sandwich was dismal. I also don't like the new tomato soup recipe and wish they never changed it. With that said, for $7 I can't complain too much - the value duets are some of the best deals going in my opinion. It was also a hefty amount of food and I could barely finish it. Service was notably pleasant, multiple employees told me to have a nice day as I was exiting. Someone once referred to Panera as cafeteria food on steroids and I really agree with it. They keep adding things to their menu and it's as if they took a previous item, added a few more ingredients, and gave it another name. I got the Toasted Garden Caprese today and that was so underwhelming. Basically just bread. I saw no basil on it, the cheese was fresh mozzarella and it was so thin and skimpy that I couldn't taste it. It was like eating lettuce on bread. Disappointing. Large parking lot surrounding the building. Lots of parking up front and near for all. I like that. Entrance was clean and accessible without steps. They have a kiosk to order if you didnt want to go to the counter. The facility was well lit, clean, and the baked goods displayed nicely. I chose a Bacon, cheese, spinach quiche and an Orange scone. My mother selected the cranberry cake and my husband had the Cinnamon roll. We also ordered an egg sandwich, hot chocolate and coffee. I do like that Panera offers a rewards program with points. Didn't get a chance to use this time around. We are in and sat near the fireplace catching up and enjoying the atmosphere. It really is a nice place to be. Free wifi, good space for groups or individuals. Seems some people with their laptops and even someone with a book. Bathroom was clean and the coffee area was clean. Can barely taste the Buffalo, chicken isn't tossed in it just spread on the bread and due to being on a baguette the is not enough ingredients in the sandwich in comparison to the bread and if you get with a drink it's $20, not worth it! Save your money! read more

This location deserves zero stars. It's worse than it's ever been and that's so disappointing. I used to love Panera. The store is always filthy and very dingy inside. It desperately needs all flooring and a good scrubbing from the ceiling down. Unfortunately I had to go there two days in a row and I had a similar experience both days. The first day I stopped in there to grab a coffee for myself and while I was there, there were three or four people standing behind the register but yet no one greeted me. So I greeted them and they all told me they weren't working yet. Ok then. I guess they were waiting to punch in. Eventually a young guy in a hoodie came over and took my order. None of them wear uniforms so you can't really tell who is loitering and who works there. Day two- I needed to pick up a 3 gallon coffee order which I ordered via the phone the day before. I arrived exactly on time and of course my order wasn't ready. Again no one was wearing uniforms and no one was at the register. I feel like they wait you out here to see if you'll go use the kiosk and they don't have to deal with you that way. But of course I needed to speak with someone. So the same young man that helped me the day before came behind the counter- again not wearing a uniform- and after looking into my order said it was sent to another store. My email confirmation reflected the Brighton store so I'm not sure how that's possible. But that's what happened and I had to wait 15 minutes for my coffee order which made me late for my meeting. (Thanks!) But the kid did get the coffee made and hustled out but you can't exactly rush coffee. The biggest problem is there's no pride or professionalism there. I know that's hard to come by these days, especially with young people running everything, but uniforms are pretty basic and no one is even in a uniform. That's the first problem. No hairnets, no hats, no uniforms. The place is also disgusting. Panera is supposed to be a classier fast food establishment but it's greasy and dirty so it's basically on the same level now. Brighton desperately needs a better version of Panera. Or someone needs to come in and totally overhaul the store. PLEASE!! read more

Order went straight into the garbage can. Ordered: 2x Broccoli Cheddar soup in a bread bowl -got Mac & cheese and 2 bread bowls. Not even sure how to eat Mac and cheese out of a bread bowl Bacon Turkey Bravo sandwich -came unwrapped and completely messed up. All the bacon was on one side and all the tomatoes were on the other Cucumber salad -came upside down and leaked everywhere 2x Kitchen Sink Cookies -got 1 kitchen sink cookie that was on the Mac & cheese and was completely melted and 2 chocolate chip cookies. Had a couple of minor issues with my breakfast sandwich. One time, it came with no egg, then it came with over easy egg instead of scramble, then it came with no avocado. No big deal as the order got corrected straight away upon request. I wish the coffee tasted better. Had to go to Starbucks across the street to get my coffee first before coming for my breakfast sandwich. Update. They now have stations for self-service ordering and this way you can specify how you want to order in great detail. I visited this facility twice this week and noticed that the amount of ham that is served in the ham egg and cheese sandwich is now a lot smaller than before. read more

Went to Panera last night for dinner around 7pm. I LOVED their new ordering kiosks. As far as the ordering itself, everything was really simple and the process went smoothly. However, when we received our meals, each of them were so sloppily put together it was hard to ignore. When we took our plates and bowls to the garbage area, the plates and silver wear were piled high as if no one had been there to fix it in hours. As of 10/9/2021 this location is open from 7am - 7pm every day. When I came here it was rapid pick up or drive thru only. Was hoping to sit inside but not a big deal. Had a really good Napa Almond Chicken Salad Sandwich, some warm Mac and cheese and a good latte. One of the better Panera locations I've been to in a while. We stopped at this location after making a Michael's run looking for some globes that were on clearance. I love the variety at Panera and the healthy choices- the U Pick 2 is my favorite. Pick 2 of 3 out of your sandwich, soup, or salad options, then either chips, an apple, or baguette for a side. I love the Mediterranean veggie and broccoli cheddar soup. I"m also a fan of the boxes lunches! We came in about a half hour before closing so we knew we had to hustle and get in and out. Staff was friendly enough but you could tell there was a lack of management from the way they yelled for each other from the kitchen. Seemed like a case of the mice playing while the cat was away. Very disorganized place. They got my drive-thru order wrong and calling them about a replacement after the fact, I have been waiting on a gift card for 3weeks now. I would have come back to have them fix it right away if I hadn't driven 15miles home just to sit down and enjoy my meal...only to find out it wasn't what I ordered. I get we all have bad days especially with COVID, but it's important to be kind to one another and it's sure not necessary to take it out on paying customers. I usually love panera very much and go there often to get lunch or to go with my grandma. Recently, I had a bad time. I had the new bowl with the chicken and soba noodles. Later that night I got sick with food poisoning and have been trying to recover now for two days. I know that it was the bowl because for dinner that night my fiancé and I had the same meal at dinner and he is 100% fine and that's all I had that day. I was in charge of ordering breakfast and lunch for meetings at work this week. I placed both orders for one of the days through the catering website to be delivered. Cindy and her staff did an amazing job putting together all the customized lunch boxes. They were also so kind and arrived at the times requested. First of all I am a huge fan of Panera Bread but this one was awful. I got the chipotle chicken avocado melt and and there was barely any chicken. All the sandwiches barely had any meat. It felt like I was just eating bread. I also got the chipotle chicken pizza which tbh was kind of good. I love Panera's chocolate chip cookie but when I got it, it was as hard as a rock. I asked the staff for to replace the cookie but they gave me an even harder cookie. Even after warming it up it was still super hard. I also ordered the peach and blueberry smoothie which was probably one of my favorite Panera smoothie. Overall the service was good and fast just wish the food was better. read more

Really horrendous customer service. Stopped by at around 730am on a saturday. Walked in and there was one customer in front of me with at least five Panera workers behind the counter. The line quickly filled in behind me and pretty soon we were 10 deep. The five Panera workers ignored us for at least 10 minutes and after 10 minutes only 1 worker decided to work the register. The clock said 8:57 and even though she was the last car in line with two people in front of her waiting on orders you decided to tell her she couldn't order. At 8:57 PM. Restaurants get busy, I understand that. Because of this, I will give any place a second chance. The last time I went to this Panera, I was disgusted by how dirty the place was. In fact, we struggled to find a spot to sit. Tonight we returned. It was worse than ever. The floor was covered with debris. Every trash can was overflowing. Again, there were not any clean tables. My husband asked one of the 3 people standing behind the counter if we could get a table cleaned. The told us "we have a lot of spring cleaning to do so there isn't time to take care of the dining room". Then we received our food. It all actually tasted great! The only issue was that my soup was not hot. I took it to the counter and they directed me to the microwave. I will not be back. read more

I think this location does a good job overall, but the drive-thru employees always seem impatient to the point of making me uncomfortable. I realize this is a pretty thankless job, and I don't expect to be fawned over, but there are several employees here who sound irritated with you throughout the transaction, shove your food at you before you've had a chance to set down the change they handed you 1 second before, and manage to make "Thank you" sound like "Go die in a fire." Again I don't expect ridiculous fawning, but the experience is noticeably uncomfortable enough that after putting up with it for a year or so, I now find myself heading for Starbucks instead when I'm in a hurry and planning to drive through. I eat in the dining room frequently and have never had an issue... the restaurant is clean, the food is tasty and fresh, employees are pleasant and helpful, and the manager (who offered me a voucher once when they messed up my order) very friendly and professional. Maybe this type of business just doesn't lend itself to having a drive-thru. read more

The past two times they got my husbands coffee wrong but I will say each time they fixed it so fast that it wasn't even an issue! The staff is always friendly same with all the managers! Ordered 2 lunches at the drive thru only to drive home (about 15 min) away and discovered no salad dressing for the salad. This comes after the fact that about 3 weeks ago I was at another Panera (Howell) and they completly left out an entree! I immediately called and complained to the manager and he told me I could drive back to get the dressing and also give me a free cookie. When I told him it was to far to drive back he said sorry and basically hung up. Guess that manager thinks a cookie will make my boo boo go away!!!! Our food was accidentally delivered to a different table with a couple who didn't correct the server until afterwards (the husband immediately began eating it all, even though their own to-go order was given to them as well). The lady made a big fuss to the manager demanding a refund even though they got their order and ours. The manager was very professional, polite, and patient with them, granting their refund and also made sure our order was remade immediately. Then, even though we weren't upset, she came over to our table to apologize to us and gave us coupons for free meals in the future. The manger went over and above to make sure to correct the problem. The food was also great, and despite the mistake, it was still served quickly. read more

Panera has really gone down hill while the prices are going up. $5 for a small cup of soup (ordered chicken noodle) with only 2 noodles in it?! $9 for a sandwhich that was sloppily assembled (literally the bread was STUCK to the bottom of the wax paper) and the overall assemble of it looked like a toddler put it together. Moral of the story: I paid almost $30 for two crappy sandwiches and a cup of salty broth. Never going back here again! There's so many good options to eat in Brighton. This Panera is always very busy & often there are issues with late coffee but the staff is as nice as they can be. More important they go out of their way to make sure your experience is a pleasant one, especially if there are issues with your order. They were very busy this morning & I had to wait for coffee to brew. Disappointed, I stayed and worked anyway. After while I eventually got coffee. Then as I was heading out, I decided to get an iced tea to go. The server recognized me, handed me a cup & said, "It's on me." And THAT is how good customers are won. Thank you!!!!
