Was in Key West last week and spent an inordinate amount of time here. Had been 13 years ago, and it seems the same. Staff and customers were extremely friendly...they made us feel like regs, and were very helpful as we mentioned possibly relocating there. Key West that is...not the bar...although... We popped in for a quick glass of wine and to hide away from the hot August sun. We were welcomed in and treated like family. The cheese plate was nothing to write home about, but it was nice that they had that option. This really feels more like a wine shop than a wine bar, but there are a few spots to sit and enjoy. (They sell bottles to go, or some There is a nice patio on the front where, apparently, Germans super-love to kick it and drink tons of wine. They have practically no beer and I didnt see any liquor. So this doesn't serve as a liquor store, if that is what you're needing. read more

This area of Duvall is a lot more laid back than the party area 5 - 6 blocks away, so it makes for a great place to put a wine bar where you can sit outside without all the distractions that might be doing on nearby. They offer a nice list of wines by-the-glass or bottle as well and you'll probably find what you're looking for between everything they offer. Give them a try! read more

Had this place on my radar for a few years now. Decided to finally make it in. The wife and I love wine. When I say wine, I mean big, bold, dry, RED. Maybe even an occasional very dry white. We have traveled all around the globe and we love to taste wine...hell we just love to drink wine! We could care less if its $200 a bottle or $5 a bottle. Price does not determine what tastes good and what doesn't. At least in most cases. Sorry, no sweet or fruit wine sissys here! So we stumbled into this little place on duval. First impression was it looked like a little run down wine store. Then after looking to the right, it was a little run down wine store with a very small bar and a table. Seating inside is 8 max. OK, no problem. The tender was a friendly guy who gave us a wine list and explained the deal. About $3 for a taste of something, about $8 a glass, or you could pick any bottle off the shelf and share it at the price marked on it. I wish like hell we would have done this and I will tell you why. We had a dinner reservation over at Santiago's Bodego. We didn't have time for a full bottle so we opted to go with a glass each. I ordered a Cabernet and she ordered a blend. When they arrived and I looked at the glasses i was like WTF? Are you kidding me???? The wine in both glasses was chilled so cold that the glasses were sweating! Now, once again I will say I am not a wine snob. But i do know enough about wine to know that when you chill a red wine down to refrigerator temp of say 38-40 degrees, you might just pour it out because you have essentially ruined it. When its that cold, you only get a quarter of the flavor, the smell, and the best thing, the TASTE! If you don't believe me, try it for yourself. Take identical bottles and put one in your refrigerator. Let the other one out in room temp, or better yet put it in a wine refrigerator that runs around 60 degrees. Either way, room temperature will be way better. Relax people, were not drinking beer here! Think of it like this. What tastes better? Fresh food or frozen food? If you have to think about it, then your probably wasting your time. You will think you are drinking two completely different wines! Room temp wine will have a full flavor profile with all the different notes and tastes coming thru from start to finish. The refrigerator wine will barely taste like grape juice. Everything about it will be dull! STOP DOING THIS! STOP CHEATING YOURSELF! One other reviewer asked why this was done and was told "its because the island is so warm". Please, just shut up! He was told that it will warm up quickly. Right! I don't want to wait 3 hours after opening a bottle to start drinking it. If you need your red wine chilled like that, drink sangria, put ice in it, but please for gods sake, don't ruin the rest of it for us! Or maybe you could go back to drinking wine coolers like you did in the 80's? I would return. I would asked to be served a room temperature bottle. If they didn't have it, I would leave and not go back. Probably another star or star and a half if it wouldn't be for this HUGE blunder on their part. It must be like opening a McDonald's and not even knowing how to cook a hamburger! read more

We were on vacation in KW this past weekend and went here three times. This is a super fun place with mostly locals. Wine prices are very reasonable - we got a fabulous bottle of CA sauvignon blanc half the price we can get it for in CA. Believe me, I know wine and pricing. This is our home away from home for all the years we've been coming to Key West. Sure, it's a little shabby around the edges, but who the hell isn't? The bar staff changes occasionally, but there are lots of long-time wine slingers who know their way around the racks and cases lining the walls. Comfortable, like your favourite jeans (thanks, Robin). Just blend in with the locals and don't be a cork dork. No bike rack out front, but there are plenty of signs you can tie your bike to. read more

Hands down the best place to be in Key West. I was looking for a nice bottle of wine to sip on my balcony in the evening during my vacation. Everyone advertised "fine wine" only to find myself staring at Gallo. I stumbled upon this fabulous little find and they have a great selection at all price points. It is classy and cozy. The owners and their friends are the best people I met here. This is exactly like Cheers but with wonderful wine. So enjoy a glass, the conversation, if Tilly the dog is there throw her ball for her, and buy some wine for later. Miss this place! read more

This place was a delight! We wandered in here and ran into an adorable dog and very nice owner. The pup dove into one of our coconuts so the owner very generously offered a free taste of a wine for us - he opened a new bottle. Super friendly, great locally owned place. Such a delight! read more

Came here for a bottle of wine and cheese plate (good, not great) at the end of our night out in Key West. First off, the bar (like most in KW) is dog friendly. So we were stepping over sleeping dogs in the store (which I love). Jamie the bartender was extremely helpful and attentive while we sat outside and enjoyed the weather. This is a great wine shop and bar in Key West. The bartender working was very funny and had good knowledge of their product. The atmosphere was cozy and we loved snuggling up on the porch with a bottle of champagne. Speaking of champagne, bottles of Veuve Clicquot are only $50 here (what is with the cheap champagne in Key West)! Definitely a nice spot to relax on Duval. read more

Totally agree this is exceptional. Our server was great. We had the Sangria special $5.00 ..... so good. There were 4 of us, we had a great conversation with a lady at the bar. Excellent place to come as a couple or as a large group to buy VERY reasonable bottles of vino off the shelf and then have a seat in the cute quaint shop with the locals, or enjoy the big southern patio or garden area. There are plenty of wine bars along Duval where you can get friendly service. But not here. We apparently bothered the bartender by asking a few questions and ordering a couple glasses of wine. There was even a sign up over the bar that said something along the lines of "beware attack bartender" which was not lost on me. Wine bottles are over priced but the only saving grace here was you could get tasters for 4.50 which are a pretty generous pour. Nice porch to sit out on to people watch but they're not the only ones along Duval with a nice porch so there ya have it. read more

Great wine shop, my husband and I popped in for a break from the sun and had some rosé. Robin was our bartender and she invited us to pull up some chairs and we chatted with her for almost an hour. We got overcharged. Both my brother and I went in to buy some retail wine (which is outrageously overpriced by the way). I bought a bottle of white that I pay $12 for at home and they charge $25, not to sit and drink it that was the retail to-go price". I bought a $45 bottle and a $25 bottle and wasn't paying attention and was charged $84! My brother checked out right after me with the same priced bottles and she did the same thing! Trying to rip us off because we aren't locals and make a quick extra $20. Thankfully my brother caught the mistake and she adjusted it and I called back later that day to tell her that she overcharged me and she knew immediately what I was talking about (how conveniently coincidental) and offered to give me the money back. Go to Publix up the street they have a great selection with reasonable prices! read more

We selected a wine from her recommendation and it wasn't what we expected from her generic "this is good" recommendation and she said we should've selected what she recommended which is what we did. Here is a place where "everybody knows your name". And even, if like like me, you are only on vacation here for a couple of days. I went recently with my special lady friend and we had a great time. She is looking to open up a champagne/wine bar as well, so, the owners and he became immediate friends. They made us feel like old friends (but not just us, it seemed that everyone received the same treatment). We liked it so much that we came back for their New Year's Eve celebration which included a free buffet and NO COVER. What does this mean? Well, it means instead of spending our money on a $100 prix fixe at a mediocre restaurant, we got to spend it on 2 nice bottles of champagne. We met some great locals that night, and really got a feel for what Key West is for someone that lives there. This place is, as other people have commented, not a wine snob bar. They won't tell you about the sediment in the soil in Africa and how in African wines there is an "earthy" taste that you won't find anywhere else, or any other kind of silly/ yet slightly amusing wine snob knowledge that you may find at a ritzy wine bar. But, here is where you can come, ask for a good glass of white, red, or champagne, sit outside (or inside), and just enjoy the people more than deconstruct the glass of wine that was just poured. I dig this place a lot. The only reason I give them 4 stars is they seem to get slightly overwhelmed with a higher volume of people and sometimes that can make it a little confusing (they lost a bottle of champagne we bought after 2 glasses because they had put it in there fridge to keep it cold for us, but then I guess poured it for others). They made it up to us with another bottle, but that isn't really the point. I hope they stick around and mistakes like that don't cost them too much money. read more

i have just recently moved back to key west and cannot wait to get my happy arse to grand vin! this was my bar of choice 7 years ago and will be now. the atmosphere is chill, the location is great (duval, but not the insanely busy end) and the selection is fun and educational. the owners are the kind of folks who will open a bottle and share with you as the evening comes to a close. the staff (at the time) was knowledgeable and hella great to hang out with. looking forward to meeting abigail! don't let the snobs dissuade you. this is the only place to go on the island if you love wine and other wine-lovers! read more
