We dined at bagatelle for a late dinner. We were seating on the upstairs porch/balcony looking out onto the street and it was very nice. We didn't try any of the drinks so I can't speak to that but they sounded good. I had a Diet Coke, which I'm including in my review because I noticed most places on Key West had Pepsi (I know it's silly but I'm a Pepsi hater!). We started with the tuna poke and shishito peppers. The tuna was fabulous and had a great sauce. I would skip the peppers next time, nothing was wrong with them but it didn't stand out for me. For entrees I had the whole snapper which was served with rice and vegetables. The snapper was in some kind of sweet chili sauce and the fish was so crispy. It was delicious and filling, I wish I could have eaten more! My friend had the filet, I didn't try it but she enjoyed it very much. The service was okay, not bad, not outstanding. After scouring Duval Street for something different we stumbled upon this wrap around balcony seating restaurant that was originally a 200 year old bahamian style house. The burrata salad, the breakfast tacos and warm brie were splendid. This is a more upscale restaurant in the Keys. The food is superior and never disappoints. They accommodated a late night drop-in and made us feel welcome. The food is excellent. This was such a lovely dinner spot in Key West. They have a beautiful outdoor balcony with ample seating. We were promptly seated at our reservation time. After stopping in here last year on a Food & Walking tour, I was excited to come back for a dinner reservation this year. I made a reservation on Open Table and requested balcony seating which we were given. I also noted that it was a birthday dinner which the server also recognized by bringing out dessert at the end of the meal. We all absolutely loved our food and the service was top notch. Our waiter was knowledgeable of the menu, friendly, and never kept us waiting or wanting for anything. He brought clean flatware between courses and kept our beverages full. I enjoyed the Heart of Palm salad with added grilled shrimp which was plentiful. Others at the table had the snapper (whole fish!), lobster fettuccine, and roasted chicken. We had made reservations in advance so we were able to be seated right away. We had brunch and was seated upstairs inside. It was bright and sunny outside, so glad we were indoors. Had the fish tacos with black beans and rice. The fish tacos were not heavy and was very light. The cilantro cream sauce was really good. The pico de gallo was very refreshing to have. So glad to have finally tried Bagatelle. We were a large group and seated quickly, though I'm almost certain someone in our group had a reservation. The service was excellent! I started with the cucumber basil martini and it was stand out delicious. For dinner I got the blackened swordfish and was really impressed by it! The serving size was way more than enough for me. We did get a couple orders of mussels for the table and as someone who only eats mussels occasionally, if not rarely, I found theirs phenomenal... I really liked the cognac peppercorn cream sauce. They had a great wine selection and we enjoyed a bottle of Cab with our dinner. We started with a Caesar which had nice pieces of white anchovies (mine only) and then we both had blackened swordfish which was cooked and seasoned to perfection over risotto. We finished off with a glass of baileys on the rocks. Dinner was 2.5 hours of overlooking Duval ave in KeyWest. Unfortunately, the service fell far short of what one would expect in a high-end dining experience. Our waitress, Tracey, appeared disengaged and lacked even basic attentiveness throughout the evening. We endured long stretches without acknowledgment, and when interactions did occur, they felt rushed and impersonal. At no point were we asked if we would like another glass of wine, and when dessert was mentioned, she began walking away before we had the chance to respond. It's worth noting that we arrived early to enjoy happy hour at the downstairs bar, where the service was exceptional, attentive, welcoming, and truly reflective of the level of hospitality we had hoped to experience throughout the night. The good: really cute and good vibes off Duval street. The bad: The signs outside, along with the website offer a morning happy hour ending at 11:30. When we got inside at 10:45, we were told it is only at the bar, so we moved upstairs to some additional bar tables. The server upstairs said HH ends at 11 now per her owner, and since it was 11:01 she couldn't put it in the system. After involving several other staff, they said they would honor the 11:30 time. The food was super average. The lobster mac and cheese had a couple specks of lobster in it. The corned beef hash was very dried out and had a lot of fatty pieces that looked like potato. We were really excited to try bagatelle as our first meal in Key West. I had seen lots of good reviews on social media. After getting in late on New Year's Eve, we made reservations for New Year's Day brunch. The reservation was not necessary. When we arrived at 10am it was not busy at all. Perhaps this is just due to everyone still being asleep after the NYE festivities. We were seated upstairs on the outdoor deck. Service was pretty prompt but there was a dead bug in my water glass. Not the best start to the meal but also pretty understandable when water pitchers are outside. I ordered a mimosa and a coffee with cream and sugar. I was only provided artificial sweeteners and the container they came in was dirty. We booked the restaurant largely based on reviews of the cinnamon roll starter. We were notified that they were out of them. They were also out of buns so all the sandwiches would be on toast. They were also out of egg whites for any of the omelettes. All in all a pretty disappointing lack of items for the first day of the year. I ordered the traditional eggs Benedict and my husband had traditional breakfast. Both were just ok. Everything was a little lukewarm which is again disappointing. I anticipated crispy home potatoes based on other pictures. But these were soggy and overly doused in paprika. The mimosa was good though. I MIGHT try again for dinner if I'm ever in Key West again, but unlikely given the other great places we ate. read more

Had a lovely meal at Bagatelle on my most recent Key West adventure. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and inviting. We opted to sit at the bar and order a couple of martinis to start the night. We also threw in an order of blistered shishito peppers, which came with a hot honey glaze which gave the dish a nice kick. For my entree, I opted for the lobster fettuccine, which was served in a roasted garlic herb sauce and came with cherry tomatoes and spinach. It was very flavorful and although spiny lobster isn't always my favorite, this particular lobster tail was juicy, succulent, and grilled to perfection. I would absolutely come back to Bagatelle the next time I'm in Key West! read more

This place came highly recommend to us and thus, we decided to eat here on our first night in Key West. We entered the restaurant and there was no one there. We were sat outside and I went to the bathroom. When I came back, there were three other tables outside. What? Luckily, we were the first ones sat. Otherwise, we might have not stayed. One table actually got up and left. Obviously, we don't know why. My guess is either the menu was too pricey or they were frustrated with the service. They only had one server for all the outdoor tables and even though he was above average, he was certainly a little overwhelmed. The prices are outrageous for Key West. You can definitely get better food for much less. I ordered the whole snapper and it was very mediocre. The portion size was small and it just wasn't a lot of food for the price. As I stated above, the server was fine and he was trying his best. They were also out of the one beer that I wanted which was a bummer. I just didn't love this place. There are so many places to eat along Duval Street that I wouldn't go back here. It wasn't terrible. I just know that I can find better elsewhere. read more

The fish special was lacking flavor, fish was very overcooked as well as the vegetable risotto, fish was lukewarm-definitely not fresh out of the sauté pan, maybe partially precooked. We thought the food came out super fast for it to be cooked to order. The lobster was overcooked, pasta lacked Parmesan cheese that would have provided the salt and flavor that the dish needed. Chicken dish was enjoyed, tuna was ok. Only found out that the fish special was $60 when we got the bill, would have sent back for recook as 2 of us ordered and both dishes were overcooked. I had the NY strip steak. It was average for the price. Slightly overcooked. More medium than medium rare. We finished with the bananas foster brownie which we were both disappointed with. It was a cozy room with several tall pub tables and a private bar with a beautiful carved wooden bar. We were served a sample of lobster mac-n-cheese. It was amazing!!! I don't generally eat shellfish. I usually find the texture rubbery and the favor unpleasant, but that was far from the case here. The chunks of lobster were hearty and flaky with no discernible seafood flavor. The mac-n-cheese was a great way to highlight the lobster without hiding this star. I'm certain the prices here are double or triple what they would be in other areas of the US. Bring your credit card and save up for the experience. You can also aim for their happy hour times to take advantage of some of the price deals. Tables have starched white linens and fine cutlery and server sets.
