Fried donuts
Maddison C.

Ordered through Postmates and I am NOT disappointed!! I have been looking for a place in the city that I love and I think I found it. Now this review is based on only ordering one time but I hope to have as excellent as an experience as I have tonight. I, myself, prefer a sweeter crab Rangoon and these were top notch. Perfect size in general but I was sad that only 4 came in an order, I finished the whole order myself and wanted more I also ordered vegetable fried rice without mushrooms and it was phenomenal. Finally, I had the fried donuts and omg. Just get them. You won't be mad you did. Overall 10/10 for me and will definitely try again!

Great Chinese spot. Its not about decor. It's a hole-in-the-wall type of place. However, their food taste fresh and delicious and their prices are pretty low. Really enjoy this place.

Seafood combo with crab rangoon and white rice on the side
James S.

This is the quintessential Chinese-American food restaurant. I have to hyphenate because no other country has this type of cuisine, not even China. As far as I know. After living in Japan for three years it was sourly missed. I will leave out atmosphere and décor evaluations because, let's face it, it's fast food. Although, the lady behind the cash register was hilarious. She cared about one thing, getting your order as quickly as possible. She was not rude just overly expedient than normal. It was if she had 10 seconds to complete every individual order. Anyway, on to the food. We had our food there at the restaurant. The tables were clean-ish. It took about 10-15 minutes for our order to be prepared before we had to go back up to the speed queens throne to retrieve our food. I guess she didn't have time to bring it to our table but like I said, it's fast food. At first glance I noticed that the takeout containers, without the top lid, were stuffed with food. That's a big plus so since I usually start with five stars on my evaluations and mark down from there, I have to mark up from five to six stars (don't worry it'll make since in a minute). I ordered the General Tso's chicken combo (fried rice and 1x egg roll/1x crab rangoon (CR). They have it listed on the menu as something spelled slightly different but I knew it would be the same. I've had this many times before and sometimes they use very low quality chicken but not here. The sauce was the perfect blend of sweet and spicy for this dish. I have to deduct a star (5 star) because the chicken was not as crispy as I like but it was good. The pork fried rice was average but a little dry. My wife ordered the seafood combo with large chunks of "crab meat" but the artificial taste made them inedible. I have to deduct another star (4 star) for the "crab meat." The best part of the dish was the CR. Although I always opt to get CR instead of an egg roll whenever possible I also ordered an entire order of CR (4 piece) as a side. I was pleasantly surprised with how large these CR were. The wontons were crispy, a little chewy and not overly greasy. Probably the best CR I've had in a long time. This calls for another star to be added (5 star). Oh, if you go, make sure to get "red sauce" with your CR. It's 85 cents extra but it's worth it. I will definitely return.

60% onions 40% Mongolian beef
Kraig H.

I ate here one time and it was just okay. This 2nd time around was horrible! Ordered the Mongolian beef dish but got 60% onions and 40% beef!? Most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. By the time we took our food home it was too late, I tried calling to complain but they never answered, and they were too busy to get a new order. Originally told us it would only take 15 minutes but it took 45 minutes to get the order and then when I opened up the dish ...the onions were out of control! I heard of cutting corners, but this was completely utterly ridiculous! More like cutting onions! Not craving this place anytime soon! If you really really really love onions... this is your place!

45. Chicken with Curry
Nancy S.

We go here for the convenience. It is close to where we live. It is ok for take out. Nothing to get excited about. I did get chicken curry for the first time and it will be my new go dish for this restaurant. It was light but still full of flavor. It was just the right amount of spice for me. Not so spicy I was miserable but spicy enough to clear my sinuses. If you don't like spicy food this is not the right dish for you. It had a good amount of meat as well although it does not appear that way in the photo. Bottom line if you are just wanting basic Chinese take out this is an adequate place to go.

Okay, well I can't speak for the entire restaurant experience because I ordered door dash.. but I mean it exceeded my expectations. The crispy sesame shrimps were not crispy but fluffy and delicious. Happy family had pork, beef, shrimp, veggies, etc etc lots of goodies. General Tsao's chicken was dry.. not the best. The rice was reaaaally good. I don't know how they can cook rice like that. It's addicting! They gave me lots of sauce.. probably over 20 packs (I didn't use any) but I felt the care and love. Thanks.

Came for Wonton soup, and it was delicious! The place was empty inside but had a good flow of people coming to get food.

Great food and good portions. Don't let the atmosphere of the restaurant fool you about the foods quality. Note: we always do take out.

For two people, this is my go to order:…read more *Deep fried handmade tofu with special sauce (17.95) *Sautéed lamb with cumin (19.95) *Storm fish fillet (19.95) The lamb has enough of the "wetness" and vegetables to eat and mix with the rice. The lamb pieces used to be small but they are huge now! Appreciate the owners taking the feedback. I think they make the tofu in house. They are huge thick soft pieces with enough crispness on the outside. It's a good introduction to how seriously Chinese people take tofu and how in other countries they have a huge variety of tofu, vs the select few we have in the U.S. And I used to be partial to the spicy fried fish at cate zone, but chilispot has upgrade this dish a lot. It's perfectly crispy and hot!!! Even if you don't like fish, it's a great dish and also makes for great leftovers. I know the fried chicken is popular but I find the chicken pieces are too small. Even with two heavy eaters, we still have leftovers for another meal

It was excellent and had just the right amount of heat. I also enjoyed the smoky ham fried rice, although it lacked the distinct smoky aroma I was expecting. Some of the other dishes didn't quite land for me. The fish soup wasn't my favorite, and the beef noodle soup wasn't especially memorable. The cumin lamb, however, was better than expected and ended up being one of the stronger dishes we ordered. That said, the service was friendly, the portions were generous, and there are plenty of interesting options on the menu. I'd definitely come back to try some different dishes next time.

The expectation was high, and the restaurant delivered outstanding marks. The menu was huge (over 300 items) and we had no idea what to eat. No worries, the daughter of the proprietor, Sarah, was our server and without rushing, she thoughtfully asked questions to narrow down our options to the items she believed we would really like. She was very friendly and her recommendations hit the spot. I ordered a Banh Me Thit (56) and a Com Tom Thit Trung (74). The Banh Me had very fresh bread and I enjoyed every bite. The Com Tom Thit Trung was very good, just what I expected. Throughout our meal, Sarah would stop by to check on us and we also chatted about the restaurant and its' history (since I saw an article in St. Louis Magazine framed to the wall). One of my rules-of-thumb of good hospitality at a restaurant is if leftovers are boxed up for you. At the end of the meal, Sarah's brother cleared the table and boxed up the food. If you want authentic food with great service backed by a rich storyline with 40 years of history in St. Louis, check out Mai Lee!

The menu is varied with authentic or Americanized "Asian" stirfry and egg rolls. The Pho is outstanding! My goodness, the flavors of the broth, with added ingredients from chicken and beef to vegetarian. What brings it home are the side dishes of flavor bombs they serve along side: jalapeños, bean sprouts, and Thai basil. Add it to the soup and the noodles seem to envelope it all with an explosion of flavor as you slurp even to the last drop. And grab those last leaves or noodles with your chopsticks. It's worth every bite. I highly recommend Mai Lee, as it is at the top of our all-time favorites list.

I flinch whenever I hear the "movoc" and I get so excited I want to throw up whenever someone suggests going to movoc for a hangout. There are lots of toppings to choose from, and I think that the concept of hot pot price by weight just like FroYo is fun and unique. Service is fast, and clean. The hot pot was delicious and not too spicy and the sauces they had to offer were very delicious as well. Not too salty. It's a wonderful place, whether you go alone or with friends.

This was my first experience at a hot pot by the pound restaurant. I've only been to all you can…read moreeat hot pot restaurants, so I was excited to try this place out. Apparently, I wasn't the only one because this place got packed by 6p on a weekday! The line was out the door. It can be a little confusing for a first time goer as you enter the place and grab a bowl to select the ingredients you want to eat. The minimum weight that you have to buy is 0.9 lbs, but you really won't know how much your bowl weighs until you get up to the cashier and put it on the scale. My bowl was underweight my first time through, so I went back to grab more ingredients. If I had to guess the minimum cost for a 0.9 lb bowl, it's probably about $16, which is a pretty good price for a hot pot. My bowl weighed about 0.97 and it was way more than I could comfortably eat. The next decision you have to make after you have selected your ingredients is the base and spicy level. I went with #1 Oil splash spicy soup at medium spice level. Now, I enjoy spicy foods, but this was at the upper limit of enjoyability. Although tasty, I think the oil in the broth got to be too much and I will want to try a different base next time. After you pay for your food, you get a number which you take to a table of your choosing and wait for your bowl to come out (they cook it for you). There is a drinking water station next to the free rice station, which was around the corner from the complimentary pickled vegetable station. Overall, positive experience and I would return for more. .|\---/| | @_@ | ..\_^_/..2026
