Decided to try it before a concert. Asked $40 for a reservation. Prices were through the roof. Ordered a steak bite salad. The steak bites are a "specialty" they were cold and tough. My wife's pulled pork was dry . I used to work downtown and went there once a week for lunch. I wouldn't go there if you paid the bill now. It's just tried and the food has gone way downhill. Super loud at night, hard to get service, and average drinks Went here for a friend's birthday on a Friday night, so we knew it'd be a party night and a bit busy. We were sitting at a large table and there wasn't really anyone standing around and the bar wasn't too busy, so we thought it'd be a pretty good experience. The music was much too loud for the amount of people that were in the bar. We couldn't talk to the person next to us which was disappointing. Our server was non-existent for most of our stay. Trying to get food and drinks was tough and during our stay here, some of the group went up to the bar instead to get our drinks because it was taking too long. The one drink I did order from my seat, was the Blue Hawaiian rum bucket, which was mediocre and I could feel the headache coming on from all the sugar and blue Carrico in it. I feel like all of these reviews could be separated based on people who visit the woods before 8pm and people who visit the woods after 8pm. We stopped in around 2pm on a peddle pub when there were hardly any people in there. The service was easily the best of the day from all of our stops. The drinks came out fast and were ice cold and the appetizers followed shortly after. The windows behind the mirror from the urinals to the bar are kinda weird. I've been to Grand Woods Lounge quite a bit over the past decade but most recently stopped in for a snack and a drink while doing a staycation at the Canopy by Hilton downtown last winter. My boyfriend and I got a table right by the fireplace on the patio and ordered some hot drinks; a hot toddy and an Irish coffee. We also got the hot honey Brussels sprouts to share. They asked for contact tracing information and had hand sanitizer available in February 2021. Our server was very sweet and quick with drinks. It wasn't too busy while we were there but they do have enclosed tents on the outdoor patio; we weren't inside one which was fine as the fireplace was toasty! The hot toddy was hot and delicious, and the Brussels sprouts were crispy and savory/sweet. We demolished the whole plate and I'd definitely order them again. They weren't very spicy so I think they would be a crowd pleaser if you like Brussels sprouts! They were some of the best I've had in awhile. They also have burgers, sandwiches, wraps, and salads. We chose to ring in New Year 2024 at this location. There is a pay to park parking lot right next to the building which makes for a quick entrance and exit. The facility was decorated with a New Year's theme. Live DJ, large dance floor right by the door and a bottle of champagne at the table we reserved. We ordered the steak bites and the shrimp appetizer to munch on while we enjoyed our champagne and took in the surroundings. We got there around 8:00 p.m and left after midnight. The crowd is extremely diverse on this particular night. Our waitress was very attentive even though it was extremely busy. The cost was under $100 for food and beverages. My experience here was a bit different from the norm. Grand Woods Lounge is a restaurant by day and a night club by night! Unfortunately, I did not get a chance to experience the nightclub. I went during the day to have lunch, due to the pandemic things were running a bit differently. For instance, obviously we were only allowed to eat outside, and to take orders instead of having a server you went up to the bar and placed your whole order down. The guy at the bar/register would then bring your order out when it was ready. Because there was no servers on duty I can't say much for the service. However, the man who took and brought out our orders was quite nice! We originally went to try out their popular drink known as "The Bucket", which is essentially a large bucket filled with alcohol that you can share with the group you're with. Sadly, due to the pandemic this was not an option. I did order fish & chips and even though it doesn't look like much in the picture (Picture was taken after eating a few pieces of fish). It was delicious! The fries could have used a bit more seasoning but other than that the food was nice and hot! If I'm ever back in town I'll be sure to give the woods another go! read more

I will say, I spent the past 3 years here for their Halloween event and had a great time, but this year I was downright appalled. Great music and drinks, but security is a JOKE. Myself and some other girls in my group got harassed several times, twice which were by very intoxicated men so we had to ask security to step in. We watched them get confronted and walked out, yet 10 minutes later they would be back inside somehow harassing more girls! This happened not once, but TWICE! If it were one isolated incident that would be one thing, but it was ongoing, constant harassment by the same men of several women to the point they were talking about it in the restrooms. Considering the fact one of them got legitimately physical and they still let him back in, I am absolutely disgusted with the lack of concern for women's safety here. We will not be returning again, and I highly recommend women choose anywhere beside here when they want a girls night out. Do better. read more

I visited this restaurant today for lunch and was not disappointed. Not sure why this place has some bad reviews. As soon as I walked in someone quickly came over and seated me. It was a pretty day out so I sat outside in the covered area! Great atmosphere with TVs and more. I ordered a beer , which was brought out very quick! I was waiting something light so I went with the California wrap and fries! The California wrap has turkey, bacon, mashed avocado, lettuce, tomato, and ranch. By the time I was ordering my second beer, my food came out. Man that was fast! The California wrap was well presented and it came with a great portion of fries too! The California wrap tasted very good and fresh. I would def order this again! My server was Nicole O. She was an amazing server. However my wife and I ordered a mule and a vodka gimlet that are not even drinkable. So sour. In the attached picture, you can see that the "kettle chips and dip" are not even kettle chips. My wife is pointing to one of the only actual kettle chips in the basket. The rest are sour cream and onion right out of a bag. They were really confused on how to make a vodka gimlet, and when it can me out, or was horrible. Oh, Yum! Hubby and I stopped here just because it was convenient on our way home (to the Detroit area) from up North. Boy, did we stumble onto a gem. The place is huge, with a rustic atmosphere and a lovely enclosed patio with fireplaces. The service is friendly without being overbearing, the drinks are inexpensive, and the food is great. I mean seriously great! I had the maple salmon. It was the perfect combo of savory and sweet, atop a mound of garlic mashed potatoes. I'm getting hungry again writing about it. I am not going to lie the fun was in large part due to the WOODSTINI which is quite possibly the best thing on earth, not exaggerating in the least, and at $5 a drink they are an amazing deal ! What makes the Woodstini so great you ask ? Other than it being incredibly stiff and delicious, it is a martini glass filled with vodka and about an actual cup of either vodka soaked raspberries or Mandarin oranges or if your smart both ! MMMM soooo goood ! Woods has a great atmosphere; the interior is woodsy but in a modern way and the crowd was young, hip, and attractive. There are quite a few big booths in front and the back has a dance floor. The patio looks AMAZING though so I can't wait to come back in the spring when we all start to thaw out a little. read more
