Food was bomb! The salsa verde enchiladas were 10/10. The rice and black beans were spot on at 10/10 and the chips and salsa were 9/10 only because I felt the chips could have been a little less hard. I will definitely be coming back for taco Tuesday! They do 75 cent tacos and they are usually a little over $3. Do yourself a favor and go here! Legit food.

Complementary Chips & Salsa

I stopped for lunch at Grande Mexico in Amesbury very recently. This restaurant & cantina space was a former Papa Gino's. There was also a former Acapulco's only two spaces down in this same plaza which is a regional chain of Mexican restaurants in eastern MA and CT. This is the second Grande Mexico location in the Merrimack Valley with their original restaurant & bar located only 15 minutes away in Haverhill/Plaistow NH. Like the other location, they offer Taco Tuesday with 75 cent Tacos (hard shell chicken or beef) with drink purchase, which I've taken advantage of many times in Haverhill and it's very popular there with waits to be seated. This Mexican restaurant & cantina is located in the Carriagetown Marketplace at the crossroads of I-495 and I-95. Since it was a sunny weekeday afternoon, the place was not too busy and I opted for outside dining in front of the restaurant. There were several tables with umbrellas spaced at least 6 feet apart. The menu offers the standard fare of Mexican dishes, tacos, enchiladas, chimichangas, fajitas, nachos, and a few lunch specials (served until 3pm). The prices here seem reasonable and comparable to other Mexican places in the area. After 3 minutes seating myself at an outside table, my server brought out a complementary basket of chips and salsa. The corn tortilla chips were warm and crunchy. The tomato salsa was medium strength. For lunch, I ordered the Lunch Steak Fajitas ($10.79 plus tax) which came with Mexican rice (cooked right this time), cotja cheese, Mexican flag (pico de gallo, sour cream, guacamole, lettuce) 3 soft tortillas (I chose corn) and a generous portion of seasoned grilled steak, peppers, & onions. The pieces of steak were cooked well and on the chewy side, but the food was still had good flavors. I needed a box for my food to eat for later. The service I had was acceptable and my food and ice water was brought out in timely order. I will say that they need to update their prices on their printed menus since the Lunch Fajitas (steak or chicken) was priced at $9.99 and the check with a new price indicated $10.79 plus tax ($11.55 total), still a good value. Overall, I would return to Grande Mexico whenever I'm hungry for Mexican food and riding from the Seacoast.

My burrito was very delicious. The pork was flavorful. The hostess was very sweet and kind when she gave me my food I would go back in there again.

If I could give 1/2 stars, I would go for 3.5 stars for this restaurant. It had enough good that I…read morewould go back to try other things in the future but I'm not in a rush to do so. I had the tropical grilled salmon. It had a nice fresh pineapple salsa that had a spicy kick to it. Salmon was nicely grilled and mashed potatoes were under seasoned. My dinner was ok but I wouldn't order it again. We did not like the fruit punch margarita. We will have to try something different next time. Our server was very attentive although she was going back and forth between inside and outside customers. This location has a nice outdoor patio with fire pits and heat lamps that we enjoyed. The also have bathrooms accessible outside so you don't need to go inside to use them. Place is easy to find off the highway and they have plenty of parking.

First impression was a clean and organized place with a nice outdoor seating area. I decided on the Fisherman's Plate!! Well fried and plenty of haddock, shrimp, whole belly clams and scallops. Served with fries AND onion rings! Also ordered the Fruit Punch Margarita to wash it all down. The seafood was under seasoned but the salt and pepper buried in the bucket of utensils and napkins quickly took care of that. The tartar sauce was more like a dill dip, not a hit for me. The coleslaw was also under seasoned and the dressing had no flavor, seemed like minimal effort was made with it. Perhaps my least favorite was the Margarita. The overall flavor was bitter and was almost undrinkable. Overall if you're looking for value, I.e. lots of food for a good price, you've found your spot!
