Walk into the place and the Air Conditioner is BLASTING. There's barely anyone sitting inside because it's so cold. Just thinking about it gives me the shivers. Most of the customers are seated outside. Unfortunately doing so means you're not checked up on.. barely AT ALL. This place has absolutely crap service. We got seated and 25 minutes passed and no order was taken. We had to get up to ask for our order to be taken. Upon taking my order, there is no specification if I wanted the Dinner or A La Carte version, so it was assumed . I had to get up to ask if my dinner came with a soup or salad, and told there was a price difference. Then our beverages arrive and it's wrong. "Strawberry Italian Soda?" She asks me, since she's unsure as she hands it to me.. nope. wrong. I'm now starting to get worried. Crap service usually means crap food. And yup. The only thing that helped me shove the food down my throat was the La Vic's sauce you can ask for. The Gnocchi tasted overcooked and mushy and the marinara meat sauce was bland. It was like a fast food version of any pasta you'd ever make. I've made better Trader Joe's Gnocchi at home. No waters were given to us so we had to ask multiple times till it finally arrived, and that took about 15 minutes. We never got checked on after our food arrived so we had to get up to ask for the check and boxes. Yet we get boxes but never the check. So we get agitated for wasted 2 hours of our lives here and decide to just go pay at the counter. As we get up to the counter and stand there, nothing happens for a few minutes. Not even acknowledgement. Finally we ask for the check the waiter says hold on rudely as he starts doing something else. Then I ask if we can spilt the check and he just passes it onto the next person and walks away. As we get our checks she takes my card, gives me the receipt to sign, then finishes my friends' transactions. I have to ask her for my card back, and she didn't even notice she kept it. The restaurant wasn't even that busy, but the servers could care less.. Service sucked, food sucked. The only thing that's probably keeping this place afloat are their drink specials.

Finally tried Grande Pizzeria on E. San Carlos St & 4th. They are doing road work to make bike lanes on 4th so the construction outside is loud & noisy so don't plan on using their outside patio. I liked the inside - they have A/C! Lunch specials M-F 11-2. I went Mon 7/2/12. Personal salads & pizzas are HUGE here. Each can feed 2 people! I think the salad was $4 something, I said I wanted Caesar dressing & the lady gave me a Caesar salad w/ tiny croutons, some parmesan cheese, & romaine lettuce - was ok. & the pizza I got was a Margarita was under $6 - about 6 slices, lots of cheese, not much basil & some diced tomatoes. M. got a calzone - it was HUGE - two giant pieces w/ tomato sauce on the side. E. got a Meatball sandwich comes w/ french fries - that looked good. La Vics spicy orange sauce brought to the table - I liked it with the pizza. Credit cards allowed.

As an SJSU alumni, I can't believe I've never eaten here until now! My coworkers and I had a great holiday luncheon with about 14 of us eating outside. We had two waiters which were both very attentive and patient with such a large group. I ordered their classic lasange which was pretty amazing! It had lots of cheese on top which I usually don't like, but there's tasted just right. It was full of just the right amount of flavor. A few of my workers ordered the Seafood Linguini which looked AND smelled amazing. They give you a lot of seafood for such a good lunch menu price. ($15). I definitely would like to try the Seafood Linguini and maybe even their pizzas next time. Love the little waterfall in the patio area as well. Great tasting food at a good lunch menu price! :)

Wow! This is the first time I've ever been to this place and I was very impressed. I had steamed clams and mussels.

This is my first time here and it was delicious! I had a lasagna I couldn't finish it all I'm stuffed I started with an appetizer of a combination of steamed clams and mussels. I was very impressed with the food and the service was great! Rose was my waitress and she was excellent! I highly recommend this place to everybody!

I used to just come for their happy hour, but lately ever since I took my parents here, they've been wanting to come back alot. My parents really dig their food. Our usual orders are the mussels for app, dad loves their seafood pasta. It tastes pretty damn good. I really like their margarita pizza, and my mom is definitely a fan. Pretty fresh ingredients go into the pizza so that's a plus! It looks really jacked too! See image attached. One large can fill us up fast. Their service is pretty good too. Fast and friendly. I think this is our new pizza spot over BJ's.

Meh. . . exactly. Came here after work with the boyfriend. We both got sandwiches -- for me, the meatball, and for him the eggplant Parmesan. I swear, my face probably dropped when the food was put in front of me. what. is. that. .... The bread was the typical safeway bun, the meatballs were like meatloaf, but really dry and obviously from the freezer, and the sauce wasn't as flavorful. I know it's just Grandeeeeee's and not a fancy schmancy restaurant, but come on! It could be better....I mean it's not cheap. I guess I had high expectations because my boyfriend brings me back amazing sandwiches from Tony & Alba's all the time. So yes, MEH. I probably will not be back.

Their happy hour deals for beer are so worth it! Only $2 something for a glass. My coworker and I each had a blue moon, but we also ordered an appetizer. We went with the fried calamari. It was quite a lot of calamari for $9. It came with cocktail sauce and orange sauce. Yes, the orange sauce from La Vics down the street. Orange sauce, good with burritos and quesadillas, also went deliciously well with the calamari. The batter on the calamari wasn't too thick, and the pieces were decent-sized. I would definitely get it again with beer!

Seafood extravaganza! This was delicious! Light , flavorful and delicious. Did i mention delicious?!?!

Happened to just walk into this place and was pleasantly surprised! Everything was done right. Flavorful, light and delicious!

Great place for junky pizza in large slices and made the way you want them. One thing I've never liked about pizza, is when you order with friends, you have to eat what they like, and most people like different things on their pizza. Here, you can customize your pizza down to the slice. I think that's awesome! Instead of being forced to buy a slice of premade pizza, you can fresh order a slice, or two, or three, and have each one as different from each other as apples or oranges. My boyfriend and I, and a few friends, came here for a late afternoon lunch one day. They had stopped serving all their usual foods like pasta, due to the time, but they were still making pizza. We each ended up ordering a ton of different custom slices. The pizza came out pretty quickly, and it was very colorful and interesting to see the different combinations. Mine turned out wonderfully - I ordered two slices of tomato, bell pepper, jalapenos, and mushroom. See picture for how wonderful it turned out. It was delicious, and everyone ooohed and ahhhed at the color! The only negative (besides lack of food options in the middle of the afternoon) was the waiter misunderstood what pizza toppings our friend wanted, and he also didn't bring us water though we asked. He seemed a little out of it..

The spaghetti sauce is composed by fine ingredients, that have not been able to find at other restaurants. They have a wide variety of Spaghetti and additional dishes.

We ordered two Pollo Saltimbocca dishes (one with a cream pasta substitution for an additional $8), the Pollo al Limone, and a half bottle of Chardonnay. The restaurant offers one indoor dining area and two outdoor seating areas--one in the front and one in the back--which gives guests plenty of seating options. The food was a bit saltier than our personal preference. The cream pasta substitution, despite the extra charge, wasn't anything particularly memorable compared to similar dishes we've had at other restaurants. However, the highlight of our visit was definitely the warm and welcoming customer service. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel appreciated. We also appreciate that the restaurant closes for a few hours in the afternoon before reopening for dinner service. It's nice to see a business that gives its staff a break during the day. Parking can be a bit challenging due to the busy neighborhood. Be aware that street parking is paid, and most spots have a two-hour limit, so you'll need to keep an eye on the time. Overall, we'd come back to try more of the pasta dishes on the menu and hope to discover a new favorite.

I made a reservation for a Thursday evening, and even though it's right in the heart of downtown, we were lucky and managed to find street parking in front of the restaurant with free EV charging! Right when we stepped in, the interior is decked out in a modern art deco style. Vibrant & fun colors while still maintained a sosphiscated touch. After a few recommendations from our server, we decided to try: Mushroom Arancini (10/10): These are amazing, as soon as they brought it out, we can both instantly smelled the truffle oil. The exterior were crispy & pipping hot, the inside has creamy mushroom. It was certain my favorite of the night! Rigatoni alla Vodka (8/10): A solid pasta! The sauce was great and balanced. There was a good amount of sauce that coated in the pasta. The pasta itself was perfectly al dente! This is a staple dish but I felt like it might lack an interesting flair. Stuffed Branzino (8/10): Another solid dish! The whole were already debone which made it so much easier and fussed free. The skin on top was insanely crispy, the meat were juicy and overall tasted very healthy and fresh! It was a nice paired to the heavy pasta dish! They also gave us 2 cute canolis as a free birthday dessert which were super good! Overall, this is a beautiful spot for a date night and I'm glad I took my partner here! We started with the garlic bread for appetizers. It was well presented but I think it would've been well paired with some sort of dipping sauce because it was a little dry. My boyfriend ordered the thousand layer lasagna and really enjoyed it. I ordered the rigatoni and thought it was just okay. I didn't realize the dish didn't come with protein so it felt like the dish was missing something. The sauce itself was nice but for some reason, some of the pasta was undercooked and some of it was al dente. For dessert, we ordered the chocolate pudding and tiramisu. The presentation was so beautiful. Both my boyfriend and I loved the pudding most -- I would definitely order this again. The tiramisu wasn't bad but it would've been better if it had a stronger coffee taste and if it was a little more moist. The wait staff was incredibly attentive and definitely made our visit feel special. She paid attention to the small details like helping us label our boxes, which I've never had anyone do before. On a completely unrelated note, I was surprised to find the bathrooms are shared between both genders. While there are separate stalls, the sink area is shared, which I wasn't expecting for a nicer restaurant like this. But I would say overall the food was hit or miss but the service and experience overall was amazing:)

The food looked good, but my date and I didn't get a chance to try it. I live in the area and have always seen this place when going past. It looked cool and since it had such great yelp review, I thought tonight would be a good time to try it out. Just got out from a comedy show and we arrived at 9:10pm - it says they close at 10pm so we should be ok right? We only wanted to stop in, get a drink or two, and maybe 1-2 apps. After being greeted by the host, who was very nice, we told her that we just wanted to sit at the bar and get a drink and maybe a couple apps. She said "great!" with a big smile and led us there. While being led there I noted that the place had really cool decor and lighting, felt very cozy and italian. This is where it switched from a nice experience into a really quite bad one. As soon as we sat at the bar we felt unwelcome. There was a bartender there, middle-aged man with glasses and longish shaggy black hair that immediately gave us a "mean mug" type look. "That's strange..." I thought to myself. He did not greet us and seemed pre-occupied with closing the bar, wrapping up the beer spigots etc. The vibe was totally off, we are unwanted it seems. We sat there for maybe 1-2 minutes until he finally turned to us and said "Are you guys waiting for someone?" "We just want a menu" my date replied. "The restaurant is closed" he said, in quite a brusk and rude tone. I looked at my watch. It was 9:15pm. "But it says you guys close at 10pm, is that not the case?" I piped up. "No." he said, shaking his head. He turned his back to us. At this point I thought, lets go to a place that wants our money. I work with customers in my day job and would never be able to interact with a customer in the way he did. Honestly, if you're that way with customers I feel you're more suited to a warehouse job than you are working a bar. "We're not wanted here, lets leave" I said to my date. We got up and left. With people working like that working at their restaurant - save your money and go to some place else with good service. If the bar itself was closed, fine, offer us a table or something. Be nice about it. Instead we got quite rude (non)service. Again, the host was nice, keep her. But buyer beware - if you come during the last hour expect to be treated like you're unwanted garbage from unfriendly bartenders. Maybe update your hours if you "actually" close 50 minutes before it says you do?

We enjoyed arugula salads with grape tomatoes and salmon with vegetables. Every food item was perfectly prepared, tasty and utterly delicious. We followed dinner with a spumoni bombe - covered with chocolate. Heartily recommended for food and ambiiance.

Once the food arrived there was no follow up. We had to flag another server down for some condiments I really wanted to like this restaurant because the outdoor seating is inviting However I was sad that my out of town guest ate little and refused a take home container my pesto and salmon pasta was too heavy on the dairy and the salmon was not fresh it had that stale salmon strong taste., which I decided to bring home for my pet. I had a Sicilian coworker who was passionate about Sicilian food. Unfortunately the food here lacked passion. It failed to deliver for us. I would not bring out of town guests here unless you've had a previous experience with the food on par with the higher reviews. I'm sorry that I had to rate this as such.

OMG, I am truly impressed with the food here! Most restaurants have at least one so-so dish, but…read morenot Goodtime Bar. Went here on a Saturday night with a girlfriend and we ordered: Steak Fries, Bucatini Pasta, Clams, Tomato & Cheese Dip (AMAZING! ) In fact, every single dish was completely on point. The vibe inside is super fun--there's a tiny bar lit up by a spinning disco ball. However, the ordering process is pretty disconnected and chaotic. You normally have to order food and drinks at the bar, but because the entire interior was so packed with people waiting for tables and pre-dinner drinks, the host kindly offered to help us at our table. The catch? She could only take our food order and not the drinks. It's definitely a bit disorderly, but the incredible food almost makes up for the logistical mess!

The bar was pretty busy with groups at all the tables so we had to sit outside on stools at a fold up table. You walk inside to place an order then you get seated at a table. The staff were really nice and gave great recommendations for our group who were beginner wine drinkers. Super cool vibe inside, they even have a disco ball and cute decor. My expectations were already low as I'm not usually into tapas style (aka small portion but expensive and possibly mediocre food) but boy was I wrong. All of the food that we ordered was genuinely so good. I still think about the BUCATINI (tom yum butter, lime, garlic and basil) and would solely come back for that dish. The portion sizes were on the smaller side but it is tapas, we had a group of 8 hungry people so that was on our part lol Overall, would recommend and come back to try some of their other dishes and wine! super cute for date night

I am writing this review in the glow of my extraordinary experience on a quiet Wednesday evening. I…read morecan't say enough about the food flavor and the wonderful staff that makes me want to return because of their kind personal touch. We called ahead around 845 to verify our 9pm reservation because we saw they closed at 9:30pm and we wanted to be respectful of their time. Bryan answered the phone and assured us we will have enough time to be seated and served before closing. He was very kind and welcoming so we headed over. We were greeted by Chris and seated immediately in the table that he let us choose. He made thoughtful suggestions on location being by the window, the booth where it was quieter or wherever we wanted because "this place is yours". This is not a typical thing I usually experience when being seated so this stood out to my wife and I. We appreciated this gesture. Once seated he took our drink orders, my wife wanted to try one of the wines before getting a glass so he brought a small sample. Once returning he asked if she wanted to select another or "take this one for a drive". The expression was simple and displayed the thoughtfulness that came from him the entire night. Simply taking time to craft words and be present is something that we noticed and appreciated. We ordered a carbonara and a pasta with prawn. The food came out fairly quickly since we arrived at a time past some of the peak hours. The bread with olive oil and balsamic came out first obviously. The carbonara and prawn pasta was so beautifully plated and presented that we forgot to take a picture for this review. We dug into the food immediately. At this time, maybe a coincidence, I checked my watch to be mindful of the time. At the same time, Kevin walked up to our table to let us know what we are good on time and that, "the back hasn't started the dishes or started cleaning up yet". There were still other parties around at that time. This was another detail that stood out to me. He might have seen me check my watch but to know what I was thinking at that moment and then respond to it is a first for me. This is beyond thoughtful. After a couple more wholesome interactions with Kevin and Chris, we ended up ordering a pannacota. This was the best I have ever had in my life. Kevin stayed for a while to chat while Chris was tending to other tables at the time. I can't say enough about the warmth in this place shown by Bryan, Chris and Kevin. I will definitely return and I want to bring my family there. The food was top tier but the people were what will bring me back.
