We were in the area for a show and decided to do dinner before. Of course we yelped some places and decided on Palermo. Pay attention to the signs, they do have a parking lot right across the street. Handicap parking is street parking directly in front of the restaurant, which is helpful but there is a lot of on coming traffic. The establishment is huge! Lovely outside seating. The staff were friendly and gave a family atmosphere. I'm gluten free so I requested gluten free bread when they offered bread for the table. They provided both since my friend isn't GF. This was a nice touch. I've never had a restaurant provide this option. I can't remember if they charged me for it. I ordered a pizza without realizing it included anchovies. I don't care for anchovies so it ruined the entire experience for me. The gluten free pizza dough was also very tough. I think they may have over cooked it. My friend ordered the carbonara. She noted that it was just ok. We also enjoyed some dessert which was also just ok. Overall the food here is just ok. I will note that their alcoholic beverages are strong. If yo

Is it possible to get more stars?? This place is aaammmmaaaazzing. I had been wanting a traditional, old school Italian restaurant and found this gem in downtown San Jose. We quickly got seated upon arriving. Love the indoor/ outdoor feel of this place. The staff was pleasant and welcomed us to "Italy"! We had calamari and zucchini fries. I could eat these every day. Perfectly battered and fried. I ordered the crab raviolis. The perfect amount of crab and the sauce was to die for. Love the vibe. Love the food. I can't wait to come back and try more items. Why this place doesn't have more reviews is beyond me!

To begin, the cappuccino was very well-made, and that is what I started with. Second, I ordered the special Polenta with Shrimp while my friends ordered the Fettucini Con Pollo and the Polenta Appetizer. I tried the Fettucini Con Pollo noodle, and the cream sauce was good with the noodle well-cooked. The polenta was smooth and creamy. The shrimp that came with it was delicious and fresh, and the tomato sauce was not too sour with a little spice and sweetness. The service was above par, and our server was funny. I asked about whether Mother's Day would be a preset menu, and his reply was "Your wallet is my compass" which I really appreciated. The ambiance is outdoors with a large canopy, but it feels very cozy and warm. I can't wait to come back

We went to Palermo Italian Restaurant to celebrate a small occasion. The restaurant was huge and had lots of seats. We were greeted warmly by the waiters and waitresses. Bread and butter were served soon after we were seated. We ordered the Veal Giacoma and Crab Ravioli. The veal was super tender and thin! The sauce had a strong mushroom flavor, which we really liked. The dish came with steamed veggies and potatoes. The crab ravioli came with creamy sauce. The ravioli was filled with a generous amount of crab meat. Although it looked like there were only 4-5 pieces of ravioli, it was quite filling. For dessert, we had the New York Cheesecake, which was a pretty standard cheesecake you can expect. There was only street parking near the restaurant and it could get full during peak hours. Overall the food was tasty and reasonably priced. It was a good place for celebrating special occasions!

Came in on a Saturday night for a family dinner. Called for reservation however they said they were booked for the evening and I was told to go ahead and come on in. Came in around 6:30 and we were lucky enough to get a table 15 minutes later. The older lady at the counter gave great customer service and this was a great start to our night. The restaurant was packed with many company dinners, and birthdays being celebrated. The ambience was very festive with Christmas chair in the air. We got seated at our table ordered some drinks and then continue to ordered our entrées for dinner. The drinks and the food were all prepared well and were very flavorful and very much enjoyed. three stars might not seem like much. This spot gives you dependability. It's not the Crown Jewel of Italian places, but it's by far not mediocre. i've been coming to this restaurant for a few years now. It someplace that that gives you reliable service reliable food. You may not feel like oh my God I'm amazed by the food, but you definitely feel like it's above averaging enough to continue to come back. The lasagna very meaty saucy it's a good pick. I'm very much a lasagna person so this would be my go to here. The chicken Alfredo I have to say the Alfredo sauce isn't bland. It's creamy. It's Rich. I just feel like bechamel sauce is missing something maybe a little more cheese maybe some nutmeg maybe it's a black pepper. They gave you a good portion of chicken white meat it's cooked. It's tender. It's somewhat seasoned overall. It's an OK chicken Alfredo pasta. They accompanied with some great Italian bread not garlic bread just Italian bread. The chocolate cake also had chocolate syrup drizzled all-over it. Which for me was it a overkill. The last of the cake itself I enjoyed them. They were moist. It was Rich. It was sweet and chocolatey. The layers of the icing were a little too dense. It was a little too much frosting between each layer. I already had more K and a little less frosting. for those you have a sweet too, and you'll just love Chocolate. This might be it for you. I really enjoy chocolate cake, but I like the cake itself to be the star and not defrosting and From. I feel like the frosting and the drizzle of chocolate water, the star and not the cake itself. But as I said it initially, I feel like Palermo is a good restaurant if I was going with a group of people who also enjoyed Italian food I'd pick this over some generic fast food restaurants..

Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Atmosphere: 5/5 So good -- I'll definitely be back! We came here Saturday night around 8pm and got a table pretty quickly. We ended up being the last table there since they close at 9, but they were super polite and didn't rush us. We weren't trying to overstay and probably left at around 9 anyway. They turned off the music once we were the only ones there and I honestly really appreciated the quieter atmosphere! They had a high ceiling in the main dining area with string lights across the ceiling, the setup was beautiful. We had a sleeping baby in the group and one of our servers helped set up his carrier in a seat next to the table. They were really friendly and polite and even though initially we requested everything to be served at once, when we reconsidered and preferred appetizers first served followed only after by the main dishes, they changed course for us. They were really fast with bringing everything out too! We had complimentary bread in the beginning and ordered fried zucchini, which were crispy and flavorful, and farfalle al salmone, which was super creamy and delicious. Be warned for those with lactose intolerance that you either need lots of lactase or to avoid the farfalle al salmone however! My partner had a hard time the next morning lol.

This was my first time hearing about Palermo, and I was craving italian food so I gave it a go. The restaurant is large, spread out and very well decorated. The fairy lights really set the mood. The service was quick and welcoming. The starter bread was delicious and tasted fresh. I ordered the Pesto Gnocci and my friend ordered bowtie pasta. The gnocchi was too chewy for my taste, it did not taste fresh. However, the bowtie pasta and my caesar salad appetizer were filling enough. We ordered some dessert and enjoyed the ambiance!

Overall, I wasn't entirely impressed with my experience here but there were some notable things I'll mention that were positive. The welcoming staff was kind and made us feel comfortable right away which was nice, bringing out bread and water for us quickly. I forgot to snap a picture of the dinner we ordered, but it was some sort of Veal special, risotto yellow pasta/rice type thing. For $50, it was not worth the price.. we would have been better off ordering a classic pasta dish I assume.. Service was fine, but not impressive. It took quite a while to get our food out which wasn't great. I did get a photo of the chocolate cake we ordered, but I wouldn't recommend it either. It was very thick almost a glue like texture that stuck to the roof of our mouths in an off putting way. I will say the patio and ambience set was pleasant, relaxing and spacious which I enjoyed a lot. Overall, im sure there's better things to order, but what we ordered wasn't all the special, and a bit over priced for the quality. 3.6/5

I came here for a date night with my boyfriend over the weekend. He called in to make a reservation for 6:30pm. Parking is confusing at first until you see the big restaurant sign that says parking in huge lettering when you're driving past by. Parking was free, and the attendants helped us walk/cross the road over to the restaurant. We got seated promptly and was given drink and food menus. Our server was awesome, he recommended us some favorite items on the food and drink menus. We ordered some drinks to start off with and oh my, I thought they were pretty strong. Once watered down a bit, it was delicious. We ordered the arancine rice balls for our appetizers. It was good with the marinara sauce, but I felt like the rice ball itself could've been more savory. The marinara sauce securely complemented the appetizer though. Our main courses were the spaghetti and meatballs along with the seafood linguine they offered there. I got the spaghetti and meatballs, and it tasted perfect. The meatballs had flavor and was still piping hot off the dish. My boyfriend devoured his seafood linguine, and said he would come back again for it in the future. Service here is A1. We were checked on many times and had water refills. You don't feel rushed eating here, they make you feel comfortable and the outdoor atmosphere is nice. One thing to note about the service was that the sun was in my boyfriend's face and the server noticed. He went over to move the big umbrellas to make shade, it was so thoughtful. Later on as it cooled down, I saw some girls sitting on the edge of the restaurant getting a little cold, the servers went over to draw the drapes so the wind wouldn't hit them. 10/10 service. I'll be back to try the ravioli and pizza next time because I saw a lot of people ordering it!

Busy restaurant on a Friday night! There's a small lot across the restaurant, it got full so we parked in the overflow which was past the train tracks. When we arrived (with a reservation for 2)we still had to wait and hostess even tried to seat a couple that came later than us :( Ordered the Crab Ravioli and Tortellini Capricciosa, I wouldn't say the portions were big-- Tortellini tasted ok and had little meat, Ravioli was good but only came with 4-5 raviolis. These were $30~ dishes in a neighborhood area so I expected something more.

Came here with my partner we always see it near our area and heard from others it's good. Ambiance They have a large dining area with seating both indoors with partly outside, on a deck and one section with AC. It's well decorated and made me feel at home. Service Services was amazing, everyone was so friendly and accommodating. The food was prepared very fast. We were in and out within and hour. Food We felt like the food was very homey. It wasn't amazing but good. We've also never seen chicken parm with veggies and potatoes, that was interesting but good. The drinks were very good.

Really like the whole experience at this restaurant it's different. It kind of feels like you're in Italy with all the Italian lights and the high glass ceiling. It is not a even building - more like an outdoor place that has been covered up to make it an enclosed place but that's kind of the charm for it. There's plenty of parking across the street.

    Are you guys open today?

We are temporarily closed due to fire damage.

How long will Palermo be out due to their fire?

Hi Anne, we're still looking to restore gas lines and electrical. Once we do that, we should have a better idea and will be announcing a timeline.

In the vegan menu there is mention of mozzarella is this vegan?

    Yes, we use vegan cheese.

Can I bring my dogs for outdoor seating? Do I need to make reservation for that?

Well behaved dogs are always welcome. For guaranteed patio seating a reservation is recommended.

Are we able to bring our own wine or champagne if we sit in the patio area ? Can I also bring a small charcuterie box for my aunts bday?

When does lunch end and dinner begin? Hours only show a block of time.

Hi, we switch over menus at 3pm

Is there Service Charge? For a large party!

There is a gratuity added for parties of six or more. We never charge for cake cutting. Service charge is the same as gratuity.

    Establishment have Service Charge,?

    No service charge

Hi , what are the vegan options?

As a vegan the pickings are a little slim. The minestrone I believe is made with chicken broth but it could be vegetable broth.…

Is this the same owners of the former "Palermo" restaurant that was in Menlo Park?

No, we were originally located in Downtown San Jose.

I walked in and stood waiting to be seated while an employee, who appeared to be the owner or manager, continued talking with her kids instead of acknowledging customers. I don't mind waiting, but a simple "We'll be right with you" would have made all the difference. I decided to give them another chance. On a later visit, I spent a few hours working there and ordered drinks. When a friend joined me, he sat down and was completely ignored. No one came over to greet him or ask if he'd like anything. We eventually had to flag someone down just so he could place an order. After that, our server mentioned that Tuesdays were buy one, get one free on wine. I ordered my second glass, but it never arrived. When I asked another server about it, I was made to feel like I was inconveniencing them. The irony is that I would have happily paid full price--I wasn't the one asking for a deal. They were the ones who brought up the promotion, then acted bothered when I politely asked about the wine that was never delivered. The final straw was our most recent visit. We were seated at a table by the staff, only to be told a few minutes later that we had to move because the tables were supposedly reserved for the party sitting behind us. We moved without making an issue of it, but no one ever ended up using those tables for the entire time we were there. It was frustrating to be relocated after being seated, especially when the explanation didn't match what actually happened. At this point, it's hard to view these experiences as isolated incidents. The common theme has been inattentive service and an attitude that makes customers feel like they're an inconvenience rather than guests. There are too many great wine bars that genuinely appreciate their customers for me to spend any more time or money here.

There wasn't any special seasoning made by the restaurant or anything. For entrees, we ordered the Paris by night truffle lover bifteak (filet mignon with truffle cheese on sweet potato) which was just okay. We ordered medium rare but the entire thing was a bit chewy and slightly dry. Could taste the truffle on the Parmesan cheese when alone but not when eaten with the sweet potato. The Persian saffron gheymeh lamb ossobuco (lamb shank with stew and dill basmati rice) was delicious though! Lamb was incredibly tender and savory and the spiced split-pea saffron stew went well with the fluffy rice.
